    I have a herniated disc that puts pressure on a nerve down my left leg. Makes the side of my thigh hurt and my left foot goes numb sometimes. It used to be in the side of my calf and I couldn't bare to stand for more than 10 minutes. Physical therapy helped a lot in my case.

    I had exactly what you're having about 10 years ago. I now have a titanium plate and bone graft in my neck fusing 2 bad cervical vertebrae. I was back to work in 2 weeks. Hope your pinched nerve is only that and nothing more extensive. Sucks when you have a physical job and have to go through your day in pain just to function. I hate going to the doctor and put off doing so until I was in such pain I couldn't sleep or function. You should get an MRI and check out what's going on in there. So easy to not do 'due diligence' when it's your own body. (and yet I still don't often take my own advice) Hope you feel better.

    I carry 3 different colors of paint markers and I have a label maker. I label absolutely everything I work on, from: filters (date of PM), date of repair/install, what exactly was done, ect. It not only helps the next guy, but it brings back the memory of when I worked on it last, when I happen to come up on something I have worked on before. It's a good practice, especially when you are doing electrical work; but sadly you rarely see field techs doing this....I'm not sure why.

    I would always spray a light coat or two of clear coat after I wrote on any piece of equipment. Most times it would allow the writing or label to last a few years longer, at least in the South TX sun.
    It's another thing to carry in your bag but helps quite a bit.

    ive been watching for a little bit now. i'm not a hvac professional but i do enjoy your videos. its clear youre very knowledgable and dedicated to your craft. as a general viewer of your videos i still dont know a few things. eg. what is the sight glass? how does it work? what are you looking for? you mentioned it was "fashing" but i have no idea what that means and i didnt notice a difference when you refilled the gas. what gas are you putting in? what should the high and low pressure be during various points in the operation of the equipment and why? what is high and low? a lot of times you show an app on your tablet and mention super high and numbers. these things are probably obvious to you but things i still dont know after watching all your videos.

    • @dashcamandy2242
      @dashcamandy2242 4 года назад +2

      Y'all feel free to correct me if I'm wrong... But let me see if I can clear a few of your questions up. (Not an HVAC tech, by the way...)
      The sight glass is literally a piece installed in the refrigerant lines where you can see the refrigerant passing through the lines (in its liquid phase) at that point through a glass window. If the sight glass is "flashing," that means there are visible air bubbles passing through the liquid, indicating the system is low on refrigerant charge. It's hard to see on camera sometimes, but in this video I actually could see the bubbles passing through that Chris was talking about at timestamp 0:44 for a split second. It's blurry due to the camera not finding a point to autofocus on quickly enough in this example.
      The high and low pressure ratings differ based on the refrigerant used. Thus, the ideal pressures vary. Deviations from the ideal pressures help lead to proper diagnosis. If you look closely at most of the systems Chris shows us in his videos, most of them have the refrigerant type handwritten somewhere (R-22, R-404A, etc.); this is the "gas" he used.

    Tricks of the Trade -- if the Tstat is bad (no continuity at room temp), the condenser fan will not run, but the evaporator fan does -- use an extension cord hooked to the compressor & wall outlet to verify compressor & fan work. You can also install a jumper between the run & start windings to simulate a start relay -- after applying voltage, pull the jumper.

      They don't work. I had three on my elbow and all three were different results. If you have a *REALLY* bad pinched nerve like almost no function at all then yea they will detect it. But if it's been awhile since you injured it, or you aren't in serious pain at the time of the test like you are 90% of the rest of the day they won't see anything. Hell one test said I had a pinched nerve in my other arm even though it's had no problems at all. Demand they do more tests, decline physiotherapy and if they won't budge, demand a second opinion. That's the only way you will get it resolved, if you let them do what they want to do you'll just be paying a monthly fee on physiotherapy/pain relievers.

That was like a knife . for 3 weeks I couldnt work unaided , with 2 walking sticks and that a step at a time to get from bed to chair . I had to get doctor out to get Panadeine forte , then I could get to a Physio . Use those heat up wheat bags but you will need Physio

    Hi ! thanks for the video ! I hope you're feeling better. Those pinches are painful as hell! I noticed that the TVX bulb is not insulated from the air flow of the evaporator fans. Doesn't it affect the superheat stability ? I once was scratching my head trying to figure out why my TXV was opening to full throttle then closing again in an endless cycle. It was a walk in cooler I just installed. My sight glass was flashing too as the TXV opened wide and the superheat was all over the shop. Everything came back to normal when I installed a piece of insulation tubing on the bulb.

    Air in the system is the worst. To prevent this, many times I will precharge my gauges to prevent air entering a unit. The other alternative is to shut down the system let the low side build up a bit of pressire if it has gas, then hookup the low side and purge my gauges so as to prevent loosing a minimal amount of gas, not liquid. If you dont shut down the machine and its in a vacuum on the low side, you just sucked air into the system and need to replace the charge now. Thats one reason I precharge my gauges b4 hooking them up.

    Have you consulted with a Chiropractor?
    The pinched nerve might be caused by a joint that's out of it's proper position and/or bad posture.
    I had several tendons that make up the rotator cuff of my shoulder become inflamed (4 tendons per cuff, 2 in my right cuff and 1 in the left - both arms now have permanent restricted motion - MASSIVE PITA) due to my admittedly horrible posture and that might be an aggravating factor (and/or the root cause) of your pinched nerve...
    Good luck and I hope you have speedy recovery...
