Thing is, combustion engines only produce peak power at the redline or close to it. Most of the time they're revving up between shifts so on average sending only 75-85% of their peak power on a full run - NA engines do worse than turbocharged ones here because their peak power is right at the end, in TC engines it can be even 1000-1500 rpm before redline. Plus another 10-12% lost to transmission losses. The Electric motors in the Plaid hit 100% peak power quickly and stay producing peak power till Vmax. So at any speed, that Plaid is sending far more power to the wheels than the Lambo, and the Lambo's own motors aren't powerful enough to bridge that gap. Ideally the total HP of all 3 motors and engine should be 1267 HP but it's only 1015 HP so the front motors cut. In fact the rear one goes through the gearbox, so it also has losses. Peak power doesn't matter, it's the power that goes to the wheels from 0-Vmax at any speed that matters. Don't get fooled by the similar HP numbers, most of the time an ICE is only putting down about 70-75% of it, the Plaid is like 95% Also despite being bigger the Plaid has an absurdly low drag coefficient.
Combustion and transmission can not be compared to electric. Hope now everyone understand. Tesla has good drag coeficient, also Lambo has and has even smaller front area. Plus I guess Lambo has in papers more kW per kg. Sorry to say that, but combustion motors are dead. We need to move forward after 100y of burning petrol. ;)
Christ you're like a minivan compared to the electric car. Edit: This is so much better than Carwow though, I can trust your videos because I have no idea what they are doing there. They had a seemingly close race with the 911 when the Plaid was a low 9 second car and they wouldn't reveal the battery range they raced on or anything. Here we know you guys are going at your best and will give details that can effect the race down to the tires! Thank you for being dependable!
Those Plaids that Carwow uses in their races typically come from neighboring countries and they don't have a supercharger close to the airstrip to top off the car so they typically run at 60-65% SOC which is not bad but far from its best SOC for peak performance. Notice how they NEVER mention SOC before they run it.
This is EXACTLY what I just said. I don’t take Carwow seriously. The 750S they had on that channel had a malfunctioning turbo but they made no mention of it after the fact. Everytime that 750 raced on that channel it was never performing to its best ability, which makes sense considering how it lost a roll to the 720. The 296 somehow lost a roll race with the Revuelto when the Revuelto was placed in Corsa/Perf mode, when in videos prior it was dead even with a SF90, which is obv faster than a Revuelto in Corsa/Perf. They also had a GT2RS beating a F8 Tributo, and keeping up with a 765LT lol.
Oh yeah I just watched carwow's part. The plaid running a 9.8? Bro what. I don't watch carwow anymore. His just talking bs for half a video straight. And everytime, he choose the fastest car and jump every start.
They don’t that’s the thing. Only focusing on one point like the dig is only a fraction of what the Revuelto beats the Tesla in. The Revuelto can beat it in every other performance metric other than digs.
@@cvmplol5964 The Plaid in this video was quicker and faster than a Revuelto. And the Plaid is also quicker to 205 mph, and one with speed limiter lifted reached 216 mph like 5 years ago.
The S Plaid is insane when you consider it's designed to be an efficient daily driver with engineering compromises to make it a great all around car, and still able to do this. If the new Roadster ever comes out, it won't even be close.
@@RobQuincysFather2012 Yes, It is built to be an efficient and practical Sedan and they just threw a massive amount of power into it. It has an extremely low drag coefficient, optimized for cabin space for comfort and practicality, and has a lot of engineering compromises to be an efficient and comfortable luxury sedan, unlike the Lambo, which is purely designed for speed and racing. Roadster will come eventually, just like everyone said the Cybertruck would never come.
@@Rob.D. - Not just the level of torque but how flat and wide the torque curve is. The Plaid has the ability to reach full torque before 10 rpm and holding it there out to nearly 10,000 rpm where it gently begins to taper off until reaching over 20,000 rpm. Can't do that with an ICE.

Dealers see mass adoption of EV's as a major threat to the parts and service side of their business model (the side that generates over 40% of their total profits). Many now troll the comment forums under EV articles spreading misinformation in an effort to discourage consumer interest.
It's not an informed opinion. Mechanical engineering is far different from electrical. The Tesla isn't any more complex than an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE); electric motors are far more simple than ICE. The difference is that with electric motors you get instant torque with less loss to friction. EV engineering is far more simple than ICE engineering and EV's are superior in torque and acceleration than ICE. This has always been the case for a century. It's only because EV's weren't mainstream and petrol had a lot to do with it's suppression. Electric motors have always been superior to ICE, the issue was always getting a battery large enough and battery tech
The price difference is that much different because one is much more desirable. Revuelto owners don't care that much that a couple electric sedans are quicker than it. They buy the car for the status, looks, sound, feel, experience, etc. The revuelto should be more expensive. Maybe not that much more though
Nothing worse than driving a 1,000 HP car, revving it out, making it work hard... and getting walked in silence. Good news is, I was imagining a Lucid Sapphire coming up through the middle and walking both these cars.
Nobody is buying it. It's an absolute joke at its price point and I'm sorry all they did was stuff a larger battery in it for more performance and range. It’s clear most of these comments come from people who think the value of the car is solely in its acceleration ability. Kind of like folks that think mechanical watches aren’t any good because a cheap quartz is more accurate. Ultimately with Lamborghini you are paying for performance of course, and craftsmanship, and materials, and design, and ultimately a super high end experience that is so far beyond Tesla they’re really incomparable. You can strap a powerful electric motor to anything and go fast. That isn’t special. That Plaid runs like a hungry Cheetah chasing down a Gazelle! Speed isn't everything and I would pay $600,000 more to have the Revuelto. What a gorgeous car!
Elon like to say, complexity appeals to stupid people, the power lost in a hybrid system is a lot, lambo is probably 900 hours to the wheels while the plaid is actually 1020hp to the wheel. Plaid is actually outputting 1100hp for the motors
And that's limited by the battery. That's how Lucid is running the Sapphire. It's nothing special about because it just has a bigger, heavier battery than the Plaid thus it's longer range and more horsepower.
Tesla also produces more torque, plus it's instant, revuelto has to work up to its high rpms for the bulk of its torque, the electric motors can only deliver a smaller portion of that instantly.
@@ChosenMJ honestly i feel given a long enough straight, the plaid can catch the sapphire back up. Despite a decent difference in their 1/4 mile times, the trap speed is actually not too far off. Definitely seems like the carbon sleeved motors with their almost flat torque curve help the plaid at very high speeds, whereas the Lucid's motors may taper off at some point. In Edmunds' u drag video, the Sapphire won by a decent margin, but at the end i could see the plaid slightly closing the distance at the very top end. IDk maybe it's just me
@@sidthiru1509 Yeah, that Edmunds race made me realise... the plaid STILL has the better top speed despite the 200+ hp difference. That track pack really sets a new benchmark. And I’m sure the Plaid is still being restricted with software to keep it in the threshold of reliability.
783LB ft of torque vs. 1040lb ft. 260 is a lot of TQ, and the weight is different, but weight is also why the Plaid has savage traction. A Plaid without speed limiter did 216 mph, 5 years ago. This lamb-o isn't matching speeds with the Plaid until 205 mph, and isn't coming past it before 2-3 miles.
@@mrb2349 so? do u think that whoever buys a lambo cares about stupid 0-100 - quarter mile numbers against an electric car? are u on something? we acare at EMOTIONS that some exotics looks gives you, we care about EMOTIONS that a NA V12 gives u...but yes, u don't know what we are talking about ...u are just jeluous and u LOVE to see something else cheaper beat a 600+k car. hahaha
Don't get fooled by the similar HP numbers, most of the time an ICE is only putting down about 70-75% of it, the Plaid is like 95%
Also despite being bigger the Plaid has an absurdly low drag coefficient.
Yeah everyone seems to forget about drive train losses.
If he really wanted to get an owned he would have gotten a lucid

@@zerooneonetwothree1872Holy Moly. Then the Plaid is way too OP. No wonder it's this quick.
True. The area under the hp curve is what matters. 100hp electric car will always beat a 100hp ICE car.
If Carwow would at least show trap speeds, we'd be able to get the fuller picture

I dont think stock numbers are accurate. I saw a post you did with the plaid 2yrs ago putting down 1100wheel and gintani put a revuelto on last week with an exhaust no tune did 760wheel which is mclaren 765lt numbers witb more weight. Not suprised it gets smoked.
Am I the only one that thinks the plaid is way more than 1000hp?
The way you tell stories is on another level. Keep pushing it!
So Lamborghini dropped the ball… got it!😂😂😂
Spoiler. Tesla wins all races
Wow… who could’ve seen THAT happening???

Holy cow that plaid is insane, but I guarantee lambo going on facebook marketplace after this😂😂😂
It’s clear most of these comments come from people who think the value of the car is solely in its acceleration ability. For those with a an affinity for the details, for quality, for artistic design, we will stick with the extraordinary experience of driving a lambo!
It's a drag race. In fact it's a drag race channel. You must be looking for the craftsmanship channel.
Channel is called Drag Times not Poser Times
Dragtimes Great Video I think it's absolutey insane that your Tesla Model S Plaid Track Pack beat your Absolutely Gorgeous Revuelto so easily
Thx for supporting Tesla, Brooks. Soon Elon will crack autonomous driving and then Drag racing will be the past. But a new future will be ahead of us! GO ELON, GO TESLA. 🇺🇲♥️🏳️🌈
That Plaid runs like a hungry Cheetah chasing down a Gazelle! Speed isn't everything and I would pay $600,000 more to have the Revuelto. What a gorgeous car!
Wait till the Roadster 2!
Your house is very beautiful. And the cars make it 1000x more special. Been following you for last couple of years and your content is very genuine
Crazy how the Sapphire beats the Plaid....hey Elon, can we finally get the Roadster please?????
You actually charged people to watch this "first"....😂😂😂 Nice going man! Score😂!
I had assumed they managed to push past the plaids top end with brute force... but it still isn't enough. I think a minor spec bump would do wonders for the plaid. 110kWh 4680 battery and 1200hp and this thing will do low 8 second 1/4 miles.
@@sidthiru1509 We will get to see the true capabilities of these motors with the roadster at the end of this year.
Wait until the Twin Turbo kit for the Lamborghini comes out then we’ll have a race
To be honest, I’m just glad that a V12 Lamborghini has a twin clutch and a naturally aspirated engine. It’s a sexy ass car.
That Plaid is a MACHINE, the Revuelto is EMOTION. What a time to be alive and appreciate automotive technology of all kinds.
Thanks Brother Brooks 💪🏽
Everything you wrote is valid except the first sentence.
@@your-neighbor I’m curious, why do you say that?
Yeah a modification is not the point. There are several cars that will annihilate the Plaid "when modded" but none of those manufacturers could build anything "stock" to compete and the few who have are just joining the party THREE YEARS LATER (Porsche and Lucid).
@@ChosenMJ I feel like a huge benefit of internal combustion engines is the fact that they can be modified. I see the Plaid as a great benchmark car to tell if what somebody has is quick, fast, or just insane.
I see the point you are making tho. It would be nice to see if a manufacturer could come out with something stock that would compete with an EV.
I’ll be honest, I really thought that for the half mile the V12 was going to do more. That track pack really sets a new benchmark. And I’m sure the Plaid is still being restricted with software to keep it in the threshold of reliability.
Wild that a tune and downpiped S58 will smoke the Lambo.
A tuned civic will
@@RajeshSingh-rt4rxA stock S58 M3/M4 with just an email and downpipe will beat a lambo. A civic with just a tune and exhaust has no chance.
I actually saw a CIVIC smoking plaid s
783LB ft of torque vs.
1040lb ft. 260 is a lot of TQ, and the weight is different, but weight is also why the Plaid has savage traction. Not as extreme as son of the lopsided ICE vs. Electric races that these RUclipsrs like to do, but still not equal. Why does the electric car always always always have to have more power???? If the electrics are so great, why not have tbw ice have more powe.. which is never does.
EVs own speed on the street. Useable speed.

@@MusclesAVS he doesnt realize EV means electric only.
@@CountryBoyTroy- it got its ass kicked by a 90k American sedan….the lambo is 683k!? Moral of the story is don’t race a Tesla on the street. Waste of gas.

All show and no go
9:46 Lamborghini Revuelto doing Model x plaid numbers. We taking bout 6 passenger suv.. no wonder people hate on Teslas. Not for nothing I love plaids. 🚀
Same here. Sure they make no awesome sounds of a v8, v10, v12 but they're sure as hell making ICE airheads mad lol
So, let me do a reality check. The Revuelto costs six times as much, only seats two people, and despite all the glitz, glamour, and eye candy, the Plaid absolutely destroys it. If I had 600K burning a hole in my pocket, I'll take the Plaid any day. With the remaining savings, I would get another one for my wife as her daily driver and then add the approximately 400 K remaining to my TSLA stock position.
I was gonna complain "Brooks said this was supposed to be a 1/2 mile race, why did he put a quarter mile run" then I realized that this WAS a half-mile run! These cars are crazy quick.
The only problem with Tesla S Plaid is the Tesla CEO.
Normal people judge CEOs by their products, you judge the product by the CEO
