Very helpful video I was dreading taking my Transit into the dealership to have it adjusted. I am going to do this myself after viewing your video I didn't realize it could be that simple. Thank you so much for demonstrating this. Like you described at the beginning of the video I was having to slam the door shut over and over in the parking lot of the grocery store.it also made it so that I did not want to use the sliding door and would it enter through the back at times. thank you for explaining this in such a simple manner and explaining what wrenches you need to adjust it. God bless you.
Thanks for the video! It did help me with a frustrating problem that was driving me crazy. The issue was a “rear passenger door ajar” that kept showing. I checked the lock and it had the plastic that covers the inside mechanism broken, so I bought a new and original lock and changed it; it didn’t fix the false signal that I was having. So checking again I realized that the problem was originated on the sliding door, which needed this adjustments shown on this video, which it did fix the problem. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this video. The issue shown in the first part was my problem. I had a wide gap at the top on one side and a narrow on the other. Kept raising the rear and body panel gap was better. Then on top of that the latch was loose because of the outfitting company that added shelves and the safety locks didn't tighten or apply locktite on the hinge bolts after putting the mighty Puck lock bracket under the hinge.
Thank you very much, almost bought new battery, thought it was battery issue. Adjusted and it seems fine for now. Had issue with Auto sidestep causing engine to cut out
This is a life saver! I've already paid to have this issue fixed and it's doing it again. (I don't want to take it back to them, long story.) I can tell my door is a quarter inch low. I can't budge the nut though so I'll have to wait for my big lug to get home. lol. Thank you!!!
Awesome - thank you for this video. I have a Ford Transit Connect minivan and the driver's side passenger door just started having issues with opening up. Door keeps sticking like it's suctioned shut. I'm betting it's this same issue with the height of the door.
Thanks a lot for this video. I used to really have to SLAM the door shut. I stumbled upon this vid and elected to try this. Turns out the upper bolt's head had snapped off, and the whole door was hanging by ONE bolt. I managed to extract it and fixed it. It now closes like a dream.
Man, I'm so glad you took the time to share this. I just watched and went ahead and fixed my door that now slides with so much ease. Thank you very much!! You made my day!!
Thanks for making this video, I had to make the first adjustment. I was able to get a wrench into the first bolt fine, but I couldn't for the life of me get a wrench around the bottom lock nut!
Great video as usual. Would love to see if I could tighten up the back doors as I get a bunch of dust coming in when on dirt roads. Thanks for the videos!
Excellent video. I have 250 transit 3.5l high roof extended doing expediting. Had a slight problem with the same door i spray some wd40 on latch it works ok .but never knew it have this adjustment. Please do more videos .watching from Canada 🇨🇦

For the front of the door adjustment, I need to raise it up just a bit so it's not hitting the pin...but a standard wrench doesn't appear to fit. Did you grind a wrench down to fit? Or is there a brand of wrench that fits better than others? Currently tried a Craftsman brand and it's too thicc...thanks for this video though! Got the rear of the door adjusted thanks to this video.
thanks i been chasing this door issue on a 2019 transit i even order a door sensor because the inside lights come on when you go around a corner or hit a bump the sliding door does the same thing in your video
Ditto. Inside cargo lights and "door ajar" alarm keeps coming on when braking hard or turning to one side. Was your problem fixed with the new door sensor?
7:18 Just a quick question. Does leaving the slider open while trying to pull out of my carport, bending the hinges, scratching and denting the top rear corner of the door count as "beating it around"? That's what I thought. I was going to order about $300 worth of brackets and hardware but I made some of those adjustments and got it 90% back. Still hard to close and open but at least it does that. 😏
Thanks so much! Will try this tomorrow on our side door to reduce drafts. Do you happen to have any advice on adding weatherstripping to the Transit doors to reduce drafts even more? Ours is a camper van and there's lots of cold air that gets in around the doors.
l have a WM transit bus . Sliding door closes but wont lock when pressing key fob , horn sounds . Used emery file on the three pins at rear of door but still have the problem , any suggestions please .
Yes the door switch on the sliding door is a common issue for breaking on these vehicles. But before you just adjust or replace the switch I would caution you to make sure the door on the rear is sitting flush with the body and not sticking out at all the switch is on the rear of the door jamb and it has two plastic nuts that adjust the amount that it protrudes from the door jamb to contact the door when its closed. If it's making good contact and the door is closing all the way you may need to replace the switch as long as there are no circuitry problems. Hope that helps
@@medtec6747 Oh my goodness, we'd loooove a video of this!! The door ajar thing is a nightmare. I've already taken my 2015 in for a new switch, now it's happening again a month later. Having trouble imagining which plastic nuts you're referring to. Great channel, thanks!!
have you thought about building yourself a camper van out of one of these things one day? You already know how to work on them so you're ahead of 99% of us. If you ever need help with the actual camper build, I'd be happy to offer some things I've learned in my build.
@@medtec6747 gotcha.. ya, more room and the ability to drop the rv and drive a truck can be an advantage. If you want to make the motorhome or fifth wheel more off grid with solar and lithium, you might avoid needing to plug in or run a gas/diesel generator. I just bought more lithium cells from china and a bms so I can run an a/c, heat, and induction cook top without shore power.
Do you have any solution for the hard-to-close sliding door when all the other doors are closed? With my brand new T-350 cargo, the door shuts nice and easy when another door is open, but when it's the last to be closed, it requires a slam. I have seen this on other new Transits. I know there are vents in the rear sides to deal with this problem. Is this a design issue or is there another solution? Thanks for the video!

has anyone ever had a problem with the cable fitment? I had to take my lock out to free up a jammed latch and the cable on tye side at the rear that kind of slots i to the mechanism popped off and now my interior side latch wont open the door????
I've got a 2015 T-350 that has a chronic battery drain issue, i.e. it will dye in a matter of days. Lots of comments on Ford forums re a BCM and Kill Switch to solve this, but that seems illogical. Was wonder if your customers that experience this misalignment also report failing batteries before the fix? I actually have my van at Ford right now, and they are telling me I need to replace all the sliding door hardware to the tune of $800+ to "fix" the battery drain issue. Would love your Feedback ASAP. Just subscribed too, nice to get an honest feedback and Insx on how to do minor fixes!!!
My Transit sliding door will not LATCH OPEN. It slides closed on the slightest of grades. Anybody know where that adjustment is? Or how to repair this (stay open) latch/ lock?
@@philipparcel2548 inside the bottom roller there is a metal lever/latch. I now have to manually push it with my finger to latch the door open. When I close the door I pull the handle out and slide (as normal) to release the little lever inside the bottom roller. I hope that helped Phil.

Couldn't you put something under the lock nut so it can't fall down anymore, instead of having to keep adjusting it after it comes loose again?
Why did you go the opposite way at 3:30 to "raise" the door? Video editing issues?
