As it happens, this morning I wore dark brown leather pants with a dark brown cashmere polo neck sweater; which I tucked in at the front, to show an orange belt. But what made me really happy was the addition of red buckled ankle boots. Dark brown and red, it felt good! PS navy is much more flattering than black on mature skin

I use navy like everybody else uses a black. Black tends to wash me out so when I do wear it, I only wear it on the bottom half not around my face or as an accent in shoes or purse.

That tone of orange could look like the patina of a copper metal and why it looks so good on browns. If it found in nature it works in a style combination. I don't know about looking expenisve but these are great color combinations to try if one has not already done so. For me will be the olive/navy pairing. Love brown with cream, soft camel, pinks, robins egg blue, very rich. Olive green is fabulous with creams and black if the other colors have the same gold/yellow undertone as the olive.

I’ve just started watching you the last few weeks. I’ve really enjoyed everything and have learned much. I’m older and have let my hair go a natural grey. I highlight it white and cut short it’s really cute. I have always worn cool colors that look best with my coloring. I wear a lot of white, soft grey, lavender, blues with blacks. Colors much softer than I did when I was younger. You talk alot about camel, browns etc. Although beautiful I don’t see those going well with grey hair with cool coloring. Ideas on that?

I think the shades of brown that would look great with white or grey hair would be cooler (blue/green/gray undertone) or neutral (red/pink/purple/cream) toned, as opposed to warm (yellow/orange) toned. Such as mocha, taupe, beige, and light camel. If you have a warm skin tone however, the warmer browns would likely suit you well! I think the colors you mentioned work beautifully with your hair color. Some greens would be nice, especially blue-green, like seafoam or turquoise, as well as pale pink and peach.
🧡💜❤️ Now in my 70s my hair has turned really white. May I suggest wearing orange or peach or dark green or yellow with caramel/brown/walnut coloured bottoms. Theses look flattering on me. ❤️💜🧡
I agree, I would probably stick to cooler tones! You could also try to find cooler tones in the browns that you like. There are cool browns and warm browns etc ❤️
Forget camel and focus on more of a cool-toned taupe in the place of that. Everyone forgets about beige and taupe and we shouldn’t !

Brown and light blue
A quite wealthy woman once told me a secret to looking expensive, which entails proper fit as well as color. For little money, anything can go to a tailor/seamstress to fit your body. As another philanthropic name came through the door, she quipped...."nothing says money louder than beige, remember that". I have. One more suggestion, orange and grey are sensational together. No dayglow of course, but a subtle Hermes tone orange paired with charcoal grey or lighter. I first saw it on German visitors to NYC. It captured my attention as they walked out of Barney's, passing me walking in. Luckily they stopped, I went out and took "snapshots in my head" of the colours. Beautiful! Respect your body by dressing in a respectful manner. Nothing hanging out for the World to see. Expensive doesn't do see-through unless it's one of the design houses loved by kardashians and that ilk. ........ and sorry for the novella! Love you Anna! XXXXXX

I love navy, but this last season everything “navy” is an off-black called “dark navy”, which I hate.
I agree. I like a navy that still reads as a shade of blue-the current iteration seems like a very “dead” color to me. No vibrancy; not flattering.

The lighter navy shades are much less flattering on me, and I'm replacing things that are 5-6 years old now that the shade that really looks good with my skin is having a moment again. You're probably a different color season.
@@SerebroWD I'm sure you're right. I like midnight navy; I'm a fairly neutral bright spring edging toward winter. I wouldn't wear it with black, however. I might possibly wear a bright, light navy with black, but I'm not a fan of darker navies with black.

I love gray. Light gray and olive is one of my favourite color combos. I have a pair of olive shorts I like pairing with a light gray tee in the summer. I really like that light gray and camel combo. I have never thought of pairing the two together but that's probably because I don't own anything camel. That might have to change. haha.

I am petite size never over 110 lbs so I always stuck to do same color for both top and bottom for color it is in accessories
In footwear purses scarves costumeor real jewelry my basics are limited to black cream platinum charcoal gray beige never pastels but jewel tones if in colors and the most important is fitting and impeccable finis and tailoring and quality fabrics At the end just a limited closet and a controlled budget
I do like all of the suggestions you showed and they do look a step above.
One thing that does bother me about a lot of fashion, and you see it all over is just tucking in the front of a shirt and have the rest hanging out. I can't imagine where that idea came from and it just looks sloppy to me. Some of the models shown have lovely and chic clothing on, but if the top is half tucked in it spoils the whole "classy" look! At least in my opinion. It reminds me of how little children look when they are learning to dress themselves! LOL
Anyway, I would love it if you could have a video discussing what in today's styles looks best on a short person. So many of the styles seem more tailored for taller people. I am 5 feet and look goofy in some of the more voluminous styles - pants or shirts. Maybe you can give that some thought. Thank you so much and I really enjoyed these classic color combinations you've suggested since I've got those colors in my closet but hadn't really thought of pairing some of them!
Just a thought. You don't need a necklace with that sweater. The sweater provides enough punch so you can skip the necklace. The necklace makes the look a little too busy.

You gave me lots of ideas Anna. I never wear navy. I used to say I would be perfect in NY...my mother-in-law would get so mad at me for being in black even in the summer..black tee at least. But as I have gotten older it is not as flattering. I found the perfect thin camel color cardigan today at a thrift store for five dollars..looks brand new..J Crew.
