Man I remember when my girlfriend (now wife of 15+ years) were driving off to the beach and this song came on....sunny day, windows down....good memory.
I met this guy once. He’s Mississippi famous. If you’re from there, you probably heard of him. I remember being moved most by his affection for his roots and the way he puts a little Mississippi into everything he makes. God bless everyone who loves perfectly imperfect places, and tries to make them a little better. God bless Steve Azar.
Oh man I loved the last part where the homeless lady's only change is that she gets a brand new hat. To her an escape from her reality is just to have one new piece of clothing. Makes you look at your life and be fortunate for all that God has blessed you with.
@@mikeouxma5061 I know old comment, but I like the cross dresser part too. Just for the fact that country music attracts a lot of religious zealots and this song is about escaping your problems, escaping your reality for a few days. You may be poor, gay, trans, black, fat, Asian, or just deal with a lot of crap in your day to day, but it's good for you to say f work or f your problems every once in a while and just enjoy life. Like I feel like it's kinda interesting that the only person that really rejects the happiness portal is the old cowboy type cause he's too manly(in a toxic way) or too stuck in his ways to accept something magical or something that he can't see with his own two eyes.
All that god blessed me with.... Is this the same god that gave us free will.... If so i earned every damn thing i have god had nothing to do with it ... This is the same god who lets children get abused and die of cancer starvation ect to even suggest that god blesses you while letting others die is ignorance to say the least.
For some reason when I hear this song my mind goes back to 2001 and I reflect on the world pre-September 11th of 01. I know this song has absolutely nothing to do with 9/11 or the terrorist attacks but I remember hearing this song for the first time and during that time the only worry in the world everyone in my life at the time had was passing tests in school or worried about who was getting invited to parties and who got left out, waiting for months to buy our favorite songs on cd's and cassettes after hearing them on the radio the first time, waiting for what seemed like forever for movies to come out on VHS and DVD after they stopped showing in theatre's, etc... Little did any of us know the world would change forever on that day and nearly 23 years after the September 11th terrorist attacks this world is still in a chaotic mess that's brewing up to be an era that will make WWII look like a child's play.
The song doesn't get enough justice...it is one of the best... I got up at 11:30 a.m. to go see him at Jamboree in the hills in Southern Ohio because I love this song so much
Ever since I was around 5 or 6 yrs old and hearing this song for the first time an seeing my mom start singing along in the car n me singin with her...all the way up to now where I'm 24 yrs old still singin along, ive Never goten tired of this song..never gets old 2 me....i have always kept this song above all others no matter what ...it makes me remember my mom n makes me remmber the little time I actually got to have her in my life b4 she died when I was 8 yrs old...
I know how you feel I lost my mom when I was 14 yrs. Old I miss her every day but we can always have the memories of the good and happy times we had with them
I think that as well. Everyone gets everything that they dream of, want, and need when they walk through the door, and all she wanted was a new hat. I find her to be very touching, and very inspirational. You don't need to have everything to be happy.
Love all of Steve Azar music. I have personally known him a long time. he wrote a song for my mother. It is called Damm the Money. we have had many laughs over that song. He is a wonderful person and a good friend.
Azar is one of the more underrated country singers of the 2000s. He had ONE "hit" with this one, but he has some deep cuts off Waiting On Joe that are even better. How Long Is This Time Gonna Be being my personal favorite. This is good shit though. ~Ben
on Sunday March 11, Paige and Gabi were enjoying life like every other 16 year old. Paige listened to this song about 1100 times that day. THen monday came around. They both left for heaven when there car rolled into a creek. Two of the most beautiful, loving, happy girls you will ever meet. Luck they both lived life to the fullest over the weekend
My favorite is the homeless women at the end. Everyone else has big wishes, Hers is such a small wish yet it brings her so much joy. It's truly beautiful.
I was on business trip in Taiwan recently. On my way home, I had a number of disasters; I missed a flight due to confusion about time zones, and then my bags got lost. To top it off, my house keys were in the bag; I ended up staying overnight at a computer lab at my campus, it was Saturday night. I turned on the radio and heard this song, saying I don't have to be me till Monday. Exactly what I just wanted to say! Made my day despite what had happened.
Met him once in a hotel lobby bar in Nashville. Didn't even know who he was till after we had a brief conversation a friend explained who he was. Cool dude!
I Have Loved this song since I was little and I have been trying to find it for the past week or so and then suddenly it can up and I was like thank God. I love it because it is so true I mean you have to be one person from Monday til Friday at work but on the weekend you can be anyone you want to be.
Michael Woodaz Hi guys. So I've been experimenting with different musical genres that I didn't grow up listening to (to paint and create to) and I'm really feeling songs like this from Steve Azar and other songs from Darius Rucker and Aloe Black.... It was Steve Azar's song (Here Comes The Boom movie sountrack) "Doing It Right" That brought me here. Can anyone recommend songs/albums/artist that have these kind of simular sounds please??? Doesn't matter if the artist are male or female. As long as it feel good positive music, it'll be all good. I'd greatly appreciate it!!
Steve Azar and Joe Nichols are probably the last of country music I listened to,after that it became blah. I find myself listening to a lit of vintage and classic country.
My husband and I were on our way to the coast when this came over the radio and I was singing it out of the top of my lungs!! It is such a great song!! ❤️
Never understood the song as a kid (about 10 years old) when it came out, just thought it was a fun song. Now as an adult as I was "calling in sick with back pains" this morning the song started playing on my computer as I'm preparing for a weekend cruise in the convertible to get away from the 50-60 hour weeks I've been having to work..... Do regret it at all!
I am now 18 and I was 1 when this came out. I can’t believe how fast time flies makes me want to live life to the fullest! 🙌🏻 still one of my favorite songs!
I started listening to this song about a month after I started tenth grade and we took a weekend vacation. It has been playing on SiriusXM a lot. I do virtual school so I was able to wrap up early on Friday. It had been a long, exhausting week of Geometry, Spanish, English, History, and Science. I downloaded the song on iTunes and listened to it in the car on the way there. It fit perfectly, as I had part of Friday, as well as Saturday, and Sunday off, and had no one to answer to as soon as I left. It was a really fun trip, and one I’ll never forget, mostly because of this song.
I swear this song just makes me feel like there is nothing in the world that can touch me or something like that cause I just start singing along and lose myself in the song. got to love how the video has a moral to it as well, even people with nothing want just the one thing that will make them happy and no one is how they actually are.
i live by this song, as a lot of people do. after a long week of driving, i just do not want to be me until monday. yea, the lady with the hat is also my fav.
@Warborn13 I was once homeless about 2 years ago for 3 months cuz i was addicted to marijuana and had problems with my parents and i know how the womans character must feel, glad to c ppl praising her and not making jokes, ur comment brings me joy
I just saw Steve perform on Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas last week. I'm not a huge country music fan, but really like his music. He's now added to my Spotify song list.
I have been looking for the song for years. I heard it when it first came out and since then I have been looking for it because I could not remember the lyrics how the song went and there was a magical doorway. which is not the best thing to use when you're looking for a song. Just heard it over the radio at my work and thought instantly that's what I've been trying to find
this guy came and performed at state ffa here in south dakota, the main song he sang was american farmer because it kinda relates to us. he sang this song and it was great ive always hated country music, but steve i like you music. i love ffa
A breath of fresh air, older country songs are truly better :D
I was a Sophomore in high school when this came out..My goodness. Time has a way of getting down the road
Wow, you're older than me! I was in 5th Grade when this came out! Ah, the good old days! I miss them!
@@77PacerStudios I agree with you I miss the good old days too 😎 🤠
Nothing like late 90’s early 2000’s Country!
Those were the days 😢

its pre 9/11. that the day country music changed. the world was just a happier place before then.

I love that part. I was homeless when I was 13. I got a brand new sweater and coat from someone at school and it felt like a million bucks. ❤️
Of of the best 2000’s country song hands down!
My weekend song
Haven’t heard this song in over 10 years and still know the words.
For those who have not got the chance to see Steve Azar live in concert, you are missing out on something special. He puts on a hell of a show.

My grandmother raised me on country music and I’m glad she did every weekend watching The Opry with her.
Love this song. So glad it’s making a comeback

That old woman could teach us a lot. The smallest things in life are the best.
Funny because i do security Monday, Friday, Saturday,Sunday. Makes this song that much better after all these years
When you think about it, this song is about making someone work overtime on Friday.
Damn, this was one of my favorite songs when I was around eight. God, I rocked out to this in the back seat. Didn't even know what the hell it meant.
Heard this song earlier this week on y2kountry for the first time in lord only knows how long. And forgot how good this song is😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
How does this not even have 1 million hits...
Steve you killed it with this one
forgot how much I LOVE this song
i'm still surprised Steve Azar wasn't bigger than he was.
Just didn’t have the voice was alittle to pop and not enough country
Steve Azar's i don't have to be me til monday reached at number 2 on the US country charts and number 35 on the US billboard hot 100
Love this song ,I dont have to be me till Monday,Steven Azar

Hey, Steve, sounds like a Greenville, MS. song...but it's all over the country...my Friday song!
Timeless 3-day weekend song.
Yessss, my bday at the end of September 2023.
This is MY song. I love it to pieces ❤😊🎉
Ahh, feels good to be there. Finally.
I liked this guy the first time I ever saw him
I remember seeing this music video when I was 4 on some kind of public video billboard or something in New Orleans or Kenner. It really stuck with me❤
How does this not have more views?? It's like the perfect Friday song. It always pops into my head when I've got big weekend plans. :)
Love this song. Especially when drunk Lmao don't have to be me till Monday/!!

Omg that man in the beginning is soooo awsome! If I saw him beckoning me to walk throug ha doorway, I'd so do it! x3

2023 first time i heard this song..... going to make it my theme...
My birthday is tomorrow and I'm taking the day off. This song popped up into my head as I was thinking about it
90s country music/videos were the equivalent of MTV in the 80s. Grew up in that golden age.
Keep up the good work Steve
