I think the only time I done a Welsh arch was in college back in the mid 90's, and I didn't use any kind of support either. I did enjoy doing it though, a simple little thing that was never to be repeated!
I didn't use any support on the first one but that piece of slate was just hanging around so I thought ile just give it a go, it will get nipped of in the morning with the little grinder👍

Yep, done the other side without it was fine, the slate was just hanging around so I tried it out and nipped it of the next day with the mini grinder.
And to think they often ask us to put 600mm conc lintols over a pipe going through a wall lol!

Don't know to be honest 😄, I originally did it at 45 degrees but it didn't look right so did it at 55 degrees.
