I've watched Kawamura play a lot. If he were 6'4", he'd be a superstar. He's still got a lot to learn about PG at the NBA level, but his slash and pass game is already elite. He's got excellent court vision, change of pace, he's a good finisher at the rim, and he can get hot from 3pt range.

It’s not that the NBA doesn’t give them opportunities, it’s just far too often these players get lost in a sea of long arms, tall dudes and hyper athleticism. Just the reality of the professional game sadly for players under 6 foot
It's not opportunity - size really is the ultimate handicap in a league of giants. I look at Isaiah Thomas in 2017. The quickest player in the league, with the greatest handles, and the quickest shot release (with accuracy to boot). What he did that season was one of the most skillful seasons I've ever seen. When his injury took a notch off his quickness away, he was toast. with todays switching-defenses, it's much harder to hide a player. and a 5-8 guy who's not among the fastest in the league can be virtually ignored. So you have to be epic at the offensive end to make up for it. In the 80s-00s, it was easier to hide little guys on defense, just have them on the scrubbiest guard.

I miss the days of true point guards. Man we really need to see an influx of this come back. Every PG in the league wants to be a scoring guard and be the first or second option. I love seeing facilitation and ball handing. It's an art.
