    David playing the idol on Tarzan at the F8 was definitely the correct move going into a tie vote. You always want to give your side the best possible odds. Also, this solidified Tarzan’s loyalty and respect for David.

    I just feel like phoebe could not catch a break after the tribe swap (except for you know the fire-making challenge lol). she almost gets an idol.. almost turns the vote around.. but just couldn't quite get it done.. does she become the power player of the season if she does? having nick and his crew on her side plus her alliance on the other tribe? if only nick had a steal a vote instead of an extra vote haha. Also who would have thought that her #1 ally David would be so petty and try to get her out at all cost especially since she was clearly loyal to him. idk I'd love to see her play one more time and hopefully finally not get swap screwed and make it to the merge.

      She could’ve easily won both her seasons had things gone very slightly differently, she’s just gotten so unlucky both times and I feel like Moana relentlessly targeting her for no reason on All Stars along with David not being able to forgive her for voting differently ONE TIME was just hugely unfair to her (especially considering he forgave Sharn immediately after she did the same thing and carried her to the final 2)

    The most disappointing thing about the season has nothing to do with gameplay or the contestants, it all falls on the fault of the edit and I've found Australian Survivor to really be lacking in that area which is honestly just a shame. If a big move is gonna happen on someone they should focus on building not just the people who make it but the person it happens to from the START so it's more impactful. Unfortunately it's more about who can we advertise to get viewers rather than what can make an interesting unexpected season

    • @protector_of_the_realms
      @protector_of_the_realms 4 года назад +1

      yeah very true and it has a much longer runtime than the American version so you'd think it would probably do that lol. With that extended time and what they do with it as of now, I do feel more invested generally in the season as a whole but also in the personalities (which is probably the reason for this way of edit, setting up the players that last longer) but there are episodes where the pacing can drag as a result and you know 100% which way it's going to go anyway which the American OG version is better at not revealing and more consistently fun upbeat fast-paced to watch, though then that can sometimes be too fast-paced and a bit less impactful when a big player gets voted out

    The cast was so weird, so many people weren’t all stars, I get having 1 or 2 wildcards on an all stars season but having Daisy, Jacqui, John, Lydia, Moana, Tarzan, Zach over players like Benji, Brian, Janine, Luke, Pia, Sarah, Tessa and Ziggy didn’t make much sense to me, also only including 2 or the 4 winners and putting them on separate tribes made them stand out so much as the obvious first boots

    THANK YOU! I kept hearing how amazing this season was, with some saying the best season ever. I watched it and shared your opinion completely, davids win was so obvious, and the editing quite simply made the season so hard to watch

    • @protector_of_the_realms
      @protector_of_the_realms 4 года назад +1

      well Mo got the traditional "winning edit" which had me a bit worried because Dave was just so much better in gameplay so I was worried for him but he just outplayed everyone and could keep things rea tight when he needed. Pre swap this season started off so well and as one of the best of any version I had ever watched (which is I guess maybe why you were hearing it as the "best ever" which I think it pretty clearly wasn't as a whole) but just like Matt, we the audience got robbed of it's potential at the swap with the numbers and all the tribe dynamics that made it fairly predictable asides from some boss exciting move from Dave every couple of episodes though that ended with the first vote of merge with that amazing but pretty predictable blindside. Other than that the vote Zach, Jacqui and Tarzan went out on was somewhat exciting and could have gone easily the other way but it was one of the most complete dominant seasons I've ever seen from a player in Dave like Boston Rob's winning season though the cast this time were obviously a lot better and smarter and it was much more entertaining. Overall still a good season, as a whole around mid tier of US because of the midgame and after first vote of merge, in terms of AU I'd say better than S1 but not sure after that, it has some truly epic moments and moves but AU S4 and S2 are better and S3 might be because of the chaos that was Benji and how everyone could flip at any moment and all the lies lol. The editing though I appreciate how we didn't get an accurate "winner edit" (though it's pretty much impossible to give a traditional one to the chaotic, charismatic vilain that is Dave) it still doesn't need to improve a lot but I do like it's slower pace and more story drivenness approach then the S version but the downside is that on uneventfull episodes it can really drag on

    The pre-merge was great with a lot of promise but, just like the US All stars or Game changers, a lot of the merge cast was just not there to play. Only Harry, Shonee and David were there to make moves and try to shake things out but it always went nowhere.
    The absolute worst part for me is the edit. Why show Sharn and Moana against David to then do nothing against him? Why give Moana such a HUGE edit only to cut her at the final 3 instead of Sharn who didnt have much of a story other than "redemption"? And that sounds just so stupid considering she lost by one vote.
    All in all it was a pretty bad season, I ended up just waiting for a David blindside that never came

You don't make moves for the sake of making them, that makes you a stupid player and voted out quick, you make the best moves at the right time and Dave did and shook things up like 5 times. As an Australian, there are many flaws with how production is done on our Survivor. One thing i think we trump the US with is that our episodes go twice as long. I cannot be happier with the length there. This season was probably the first time a real leading player won and not a background player who only just came into the forefront in the last quarter. All in all this was our best season to date. Back to the US version though, havingthose episodes be only an hour is a fair bit too short

    • @gamer_ap0
      @gamer_ap0 Год назад

      I actually respectfully disagree, In my opinion this season was nothing short of “bad”. It lacked interest and unpredictability and showed David by the end of it so boring and repetitive he almost came off as unlikeable. You know that if your relying on Jacque to start playing the something has gone wrong. Shonee and Brooke carried this season. I just in general think the players who were willing to make a move on this season were voted extremely early. I like Moana but her blatant following when it was clear David was never taking her to the end was annoying. Throughout this as well Sharn really annoying thinking she actually had a shot and was actually “playing” especially compared to winners like Pia who win because of one thing you don’t understand, threat management. David never has it and usually it works against him, as it should, Pia Harry and Janine used this against him S4. So all in all, a bad edit, boring and outright horrible gameplay along with a sad boot order. Hoping players like Pheobe and Michelle and Henry come back as to not have ruined reputation because of people following David like lambs to a slaughter

    The non-elimination episodes are actually one thing I really like about Aussie 'Survivor'.. it's a fun element that's impossible for the players to account for while strategizing. It's also great they put idols in such open, new places and with Adam goin' for the podium in WaW and opened up the US audience to the idea of idols hidden at tribal I'm hopin' they implement those idols in future seasons. It'd have been awesome if they did go all out and throw idols in at tribal for WaW, tbh.
    The Shontent was perfection, though, even if we didn't get to see the little rascals run the game.
    Oh, damn, and the 'busting nut, after nut, after nut' bit and David's acint' for Daisy's vote out were some top tier moments and I'm always here for some Craig appreciation! 😹😹 He really should have been there, especially over John.

    Was so disappointed with this season on so many levels, one of these being how hyped up as having "the greatest end game of all time" which is just such a blatant lie to viewers. The show ultimately did a disservice to the viewers and the majority of the cast, and I felt kinda betrayed to be honest. Spoilers were barely escapable but people were spoiled by the edit itself anyway. It was also more unsettling than usual to see how influential the edit was by how viewers were completely obsessed with David and trashing on every other player.
    Still have hope for future Australian Survivor seasons, hopefully with ratings improving from the last few seasons they get into a position of more freedom where they don't have to completely pander to casual viewers.

Yes David ends up losing zak but had he not "convinced" zak to volunteer for exile, 9 outa 10 David would of been voted for where either he goes to exile or his idol is flushed or tarzan is voted (another ally). The editing is why I think Au Survivor is the worst one out of the three English speaking Survivor shows. (Au,Us,Sa) David had around 100 more confessionals than Tarzan did which I think is absolutely insane. If you’re going to bring someone on your show, give them the respect of at least acknowledging their presence. I love Au for their slower pace, storytelling, and their 24 person cast. There’s so many things that make Au survivor great, but the editing is... so bad. Look at the cf chart for this season... absolutely insane. Sa does this amazingly, the give EVERYONE screen time, not just productions favourite.

      I agree but overall I don't think that downside of the editing makes AU the worst one at all, with all that other great stuff that is better in the Au version you mentioned. Though I do think the editing needs to get a lot better, as it is now it does enhance the storylines and beloved personalities that last longer in the game that's more likely to be playing a good game and happen to be your favourite. Pus US can still give the purple edit now and then, there are bland players every season that shouldn't get too many confessionals

    this season was a let down imo. this could have been edited over so much better as some characters were shoved down our throats and alliances failed to change throughout and seem interesting. the characters in this season were not massive names either i feel as if we needed more time to make better characters and players overall as most of these guys were faded out and forgotten.

      Yeah I was disappointed the same for the most part. The cast really needed Benji, Sarah and Luke al of whom were asked but turned down for different reasons that were very understandable and you can't blame them but just imagine them in this season, it would have been epic. Ah well. However Mo got the traditional "winning edit" which had me a bit worried because Dave was just so much better in gameplay so I was worried for him as I also heard a number of leaks going around, some Dave won, a lot said Mo some said Sharn and Brooke and they all made it to final four, but Dave just outplayed everyone and could keep things real tight when he needed. Pre swap this season started off so well and as one of the best of any version I had ever watched but just like Matt, we the audience got robbed of its potential at the swap with the numbers and all the tribe dynamics that made it fairly predictable asides from some boss exciting move from Dave every couple of episodes though that ended with the first vote of merge with that amazing but pretty predictable blindside. So yeah very disappointing after how it started out but the editing though I appreciate how we didn't get an accurate "winner edit" (though it's pretty much impossible to give a traditional one to the chaotic, charismatic villain that is Dave) it still does need to improve a lot but I do like it's slower pace and more story drivenness approach than the US version but the downside is that on uneventful episodes it can really drag on

    This season really wasn’t that good. From the unfortunate bootlist, SUPER unbalanced editing, a really boring pagonging, and the DUMBASS 6-person exile twist - it was just a hot mess. David’s a great player, but I wish it wouldn’t have been so obvious that he was the winner from literally episode 3.

    My memory of all stars is a bit shaky but in Henry’s defence
    - yea Henry made some bad moves; voting incorrectly at the first tribal, attempting to play a similar game as his first time without a good read on his tribe and getting caught giving mat his idol (if he wasn’t caught by AK, I don’t thing it would’ve been a bad move) but,
    - I think Henry did well to reintegrate himself into his tribe despite playing big right from the start and getting caught passing his idol (without Shonee’s idol he would’ve survived and she would’ve gone home), he had something good going with mat (and Abbey to an extent) should he make the swap, and I don’t think re-finding the idol at tribal was necessarily a bad play; if he was going home (disregarding shonee’s idol play) it could’ve potentially swayed the votes in his favour. It was a long shot, but he had almost nothing to lose. Also,
    - In regards to Henry playing big and causing rifts in his tribe, I think Nick should get credit here for playing Henry and convincing him that they were still working together (before the Michelle boot). Henry thought he had numbers because of Nick, which was good social play for Nick to make Henry a target (once Henry knew he didn’t have such numbers, he started playing much better) That is all :)

    • @protector_of_the_realms
      @protector_of_the_realms 4 года назад +3

      why do you think Mo shoud have won? And yeah 100% Matt should have lasted longer but like us the audience, he got screwed by the swap and numbers and dymanics which sorta mad most of the rest of the season a bit predictable and boring. But with Mo I do think she played the 2nd best game strategically but like everyone else, she had absolutely no shot against Dave lol. She played the info she got perfectly but at times she was obnoxious and hypocritical at times (I mean she called out sharn for her biggest move being that sharn did "nothing" but that was Mo's whole gameplan lol. And how she tried to explain her game to the jury in villa I don't think she was self aware or could've explained that well and didn't really know what she was doing or why and she ended up voting for sharn out of bitterness I feel and apparently Mo is the only jury member to still not have congratulated Dave but that might not be true) and there were so many holes in her reasoning for wanting those moves to be made, she wasn't great at the challenges at all or social aspect and she relied too much on others to come up with, initiate and make the moves, she just went along really with whatever seemed best for her when it came up and just made sure nothing could be linked to her rather than manipulate everything. Her jury management was decent but again not that good, all the vakama jury saw her face as the representation of the rift that sent them home and didn't like her gameplan thinking she didn't take any risks or make the moves whilst the jury loved Dave so Mo could've only won against Sharn and I think she would have definitely deserved it but it would've depended on how she explained her game if she got the votes. I mean none of this really mattered anyway because in the end no-one had a shot against Dave, he played the best game excelling at all facets, socially, strategically and physically whilst being more active, making the riskiest biggest moves in the game that always benefited his whole gameplan. He's one of the best players I've ever seen from any version and one of the most deserving winners, definitely the best player to have ever won the AU version by far though half the other winners of AU were still deserving

I believe Mo played the 2nd best game and it could have been up in the air at times about certain plays and who's move it was as they worked together and made a lot of the same moves, but as I pointed to in my original comment, Moana though she had a better chance then Sharn, she still had no shot against Dave for a multitude of reasons. I think she could have got 1 or at most 2 more votes than Sharn did but in the end wouldn't change the result so I'm fine with how it turned out, just makes Dave look a bit smarter in my books

    This was a very good and fun season, with some great plays but those senseless "twists" that made no sense really puts a big dent into this format and make it look like amateur hour. that non-elimination exile beach episode got me so mad - it made zero sense. and a lot less sense was that episode where the top 3 vote-getters go to exile and compete in challenges. what would have happen if only 2 people got votes each tribal ? that one really got me angry about what how bad those twists are for the game. and that AK tribal with the fire challenge - felt so random that it was just that one tribal and no other tribal had a saving opportunity. and what if Harry did use his "stop the tribal" adv ? another non-elimination episode that I just dislike.
    This season just feels like a modern age survivor being played by a mix of new age level game play and strategy and old-school mentality of reasoning who to target based on revenge.
    Overall this was great fun with many memorable moments but AU survivor needs to get their game on point and stop that non-elimination bs, don't mind the longer episode run time as long as there are enough content and survivors to focus on. and I do think that final 3 just works better and would love to see it also in this show.

    • @Trey-dd6md

      IKR! These twists are my biggest problem with this like why do 3 rounds of exile they don't even do these a lot in the US version. yeah that exile didn't make much sense, but I mean a lot of US seasons have the whole thing based off non-elimination stuff so I've really gotten used to it and don't find it annoying anymore rip. I think this season had amazing potential, one of the best starts ever but we the audience like Matt got screwed by the swap and it was pretty bland after that apart from some epic Dave moves every couple eps. As a whole season I don't think it's as good as AU S2 or S4 and probably not as good as most of S3, ranking it among the US seasons it's midtier for me, so not at all bad just disappointing for so much initial potential

      @@m.a.w1231 I don't mind bringing new stuff and not sticking to the US format but at least don't make it look so random and off the cuff. I was so frustrated with that "top 3 vote-getters go to exile" when in most tribal councils only 2 people get votes on them.
      and why only AK had the chance to save himself ? I wouldn't mind if this was an advantage found/earned in some way during the game like Harry's "stop the votes" thing. I'm all about mixing it up but looks like AU still trying to figure what works and for me, some of it just looks amateur.
