THIS Is the version I have been searching for, for quite a while. So it's composed by James Wong. To me this version of the theme packs MORE guile and power compared to the more commercialized version. This one sounds so much more powerful and much cooler and truly impacts me more.
Couldn't agree more. Among all verions, with vocals or otherwise, this one really paints the most powerful and graceful picture of the charater and his world in our heads hands down. I personally prefer the soft Chinese flutes here over the obnoxious suona in the commercial version, and the use of traditional war taiko here over the western drum kit. That high pitched BAAA sound the suona made always drove me nuts lol.
The heavy drums in beginning are best!
This version is nice but I prefer the version in the second movie, the one where he duels with Donnie Yen. I like the combination when the trumpets blare , which I think doesn’t happen in this version from the 1st movie.
Not that this is any less awesome, it suits the duel with …. Whatisname, Iron Yim. The flutes were more pronounced here
The first drum beats are so cool. It really sets the tone that shits about to go down, and WFH isn’t joking around anymore.

There is not so much to say about this. The movie is a masterpiece, the soundtrack is a masterpiece and everybody should watch it.
Couldn't have simplified it myself. Ever since I was 5 years old. Wong Fei Hong left that childhood impression. Now I'm a martial artist for the rest of my life. Random prompt, but I wanted to share after reading this because.... You're right..
不得不佩服霑叔的鬼才，"將軍令"舊曲新編也可編得如斯上動人心弦熱血沸騰，再加上歌詞可以粵國兩語共用。

I believe James Wong (黃霑) wrote the lyrics, co-produced it with Romeo Diaz (戴樂民) who arranged the music. They have also co-produced the music for A Chinese Ghost Story 1-3 (倩女幽魂), another award-winning soundtrack.

Kung Fu is only teaches by certain people.In the Chinese military it's a mandatory to do so.
Many masters like Master Ip Chun (Son of Ip Man) still teach their own styles in HK. It depends, of course, but it was worth a googling and they accept foreign student, too.
