- One of the places we source some of the furniture, home goods and artwork for our renovations is at Bostwick's Antique Mall & Auction House, which is run by a family with three-generations of auctioneers and antique dealers. As you can tell from the interviews and tour, this place is a family and community affair. Hope you enjoy this tour-and in a later video, we'll share some of the latest finds that we got for Flock.

My grandmother owned an antique mall. I learned about life in booths like these. I started my accountant career when I was 7 years old on an antique cash register. Now I'm 33. This video warms my heart sooooo much!
Glad this brings some of those good memories back for you!
I just LOVE your interviews of people. Such genuine warmth, enthusiasm and intelligence. Your capacity to connect with others around things you are interested in is contagious.
So glad that you enjoy the interviews. Folks are always so delightful, especially here at Bostwick's.
Love when you thrift! More please.....take care.☺
"Junque" with love... totally stealing that. Laurie is a gem. Thank you for sharing.
Maybe Sander can make one of those barrel chairs for you, Summer! He's really good at making things!
Ah, .. your channel never ceases to amaze me! From plants to crafts and my favorite antiques. Maybe
because I'm one! Lol
Thanks for inviting us along
This is my favorite thing to do any time I travel and in my town once a week!❤
I beat this addiction once. You might be dragging me back.
Omg! 2 of my most favorite things. Plants and antiques! Thank you. Fun video to start my day.
Really enjoyed this. I like antiquing and thrifting. Since I was a young girl I have liked the “old” stuff over the modern new. I have many beautiful pieces from my parents, grandparents and great grandparents ❤
Love Bostwick's! It's so much fun there, and Laurie is a sweetheart. I need to get back over there this spring.
Their restaurant should also be opened end of this week too! So by spring, you can enjoy that peanut butter cake.
You can almost smell the value!
Thanks for sharing this fantastic antique mall. It is on the list when I visit the Finger Lake area in the future.
great assortment and quality! Thanks Summer !
Glad you enjoyed!
such a good host and sweet lady
Love this so much. You need to do more videos on antiques.❤
I've got to check this out! So close. 💕 I'm so happy I found your channel!
Definitely check them out. Their restaurant should open by end of this week too.
Fascinating! Enjoyed looking through antiques
.
REUSE for the win!
That was a lot of fun! I love antiques and have collected over the years. I had to pause the video and admire the owner's collection of antique stoneware in her cupboard. I have some pieces myself, but not as much as her beautiful collection. . I also saw some nice antique cast iron cookware...an old Griswold griddle...and an old sign with my last name on it. Their prices are really good and very fair, from what I've seen. New York state and New England have the best antiques. I love these antique excursions....thank you! :)
Laurie's stoneware collection is off the hook! Best that I've seen around here. And there's quite a bit of cast iron cookware in a couple of the booths there. Funny you mention a griddle with your last name on it; because I started collecting some of the chicken-related feeders, egg weighers, and watering troughs with the "OAKES" name on it (my last name), which was a manufacturing company based out of Illinois. :)
I'm a flea market person, if I like something at the right price, I buy it. It should preferably be something that I can use. Several times in my life I have considered selling what I have, moving to a place unknown to me today and building a new home, furnished with flea market finds. (this will not happen)😀
I wish everyone had employees like there's
omg i have the same exact jar from 1:05 !!! (the one kinda shaped like a pumpkin, currently using it as a terrarium)
That's a really cool jar.
@@FlockFingerLakes yes it is! i thrifted it as well :)
I believe the grinder is a meat grinder? My grandparents had one that looked like that.
Hope you bought that white garden chair that was outside, it was so beautiful!
I didn't actually. But when I returned this past week, it looks like someone else had the good fortunate and bought it. :)
I just found you and enjoying your vlogs. And have subscribed. I’ve watched 2 of them this evening. I do notice, in both, the lighting to be inconsistent. Often quite dark at times. Just saying. Barbara
💚
what you put in the JUGS? and thnks alot
The thrifting bug seems to be magnetic...when I've taken a new job, moved to a new place, watching this channel (Didn't expect thrifting when I subscribed ;) )...thrifters and I always seem to be pulled together. Something primal in finding something with value and price not in sync.
But, I'm not so familiar with the antique side of things. Is the allure of the antique one of scarcity (through time), uniqueness (lack of mass production) or a yearning for a simpler time?
The pace of electronic technology advance seems to imply that technology of today won't be cherished and useful in a century. First iPhone might be a collector's item, but not so useful. Fiskar's garden implements-designed so well they'll last forever? (except that I've snapped 5 so far). Buildings? I'm at a loss here. Can we design things today that will be cherished and desired in 100 years?
I once saw a comic strip that shared a modern day anthropologist unearthing pottery, metal tools, and architectural remains from ancestors; and then an anthropologist 500 years from now unearthing plastic bottles, broken toilets, and trash from modern-day humans. Made me laugh but it's kind of one of those comic strips that puts things into perspective. For me, the antique stuff is a lot of that well-made design made out of well-made materials, like copper and brass; and most often-done by hand vs. machine.
@@FlockFingerLakes Perhaps the design should of this time: well made, well designed, but locally and regeneratively sourced, carbon sequestering. Seems like black locust furniture might be that: Trees from Finger Lakes that grow quickly, fix nitrogen in the soil and are super rot resistant to sequester their carbon for at least a century when left outside and longer if cared for. Are you seeing such furniture in your antiquing?
That's called junque.....
