- The attorneys representing Jeffery Williams, the rapper better known as Young Thug, have asked Judge Ural Glanville to recuse himself and grant a mistrial in the RICO trial. The requests come after Judge Glanville held Steel in contempt and ordered him to jail after he demanded information about an ex parte meeting Glanville had in chambers with prosecutors and their star witness, Kenneth "Lil Woody" Copeland, and his lawyer. This is the system that’s supposed to be justice wow! How because I heard that prosecutor say the defendant had no right to be at a hearing pertaining to his life not there’s where is the justice in breaking the laws they supposed to uphold?? I’m sick with this system that’s built to tear the country down for the gains of finance
Once the judge get called as a witness, it should be an automatic mistrial. It’s a conflict of interest. The judge is dirty.

He isn't going to be called as a witness. This is a long trial, he needs to get it finished, not start it again or it may never finish. Once that's done, if there's a guilty verdict, it will be appealed anyway, and the appeal will include these matters. That's the point at which the defence gets another judge to review this and other things. This seems to me to be a sensible way to get through the process.

This is corruption beyond belief. It doesn't matter if you think these guys are guilty or innocent, this illustrates how badly the DA will go to close a case and that they have at least one dirty judge to ensure those convictions.
Facts
Just when you think 'oh surely now he'll realize he's in the wrong', he dismisses another request for him to recuse himself without as much of a second to consider what the lawyers for the defence have laid out... It almost seems as if the judge has gone past the point of turning back, so he's just decided that regardless of what the reasons are or if they have any basis or not, the judge seemingly is unable to accept that he is in the wrong, nor is he able to admit that any of his past actions are wrong.... This case hasn't done any favours for giving the people any confidence in the judicial system...
That is exactly what I keep telling people! This is corrupt and improper. We all have rights in this country. Guilty or innocent we all deserve a fair trial. Even if you believe them to be guilty not addressing this and holding people accountable, any guilty verdict that comes from this trial will be overturned and they will walk because of it.
The entire county is corrupt.

The motion by Copeland's attorney claimed the sheriffs present were told to ensure their body cams were off and the transcriber was in and out of chambers a number of times at the judges discretion. Basically there will never be a complete transcript of what went on in that ex parte.

As an attorney having practice for 35 years, I have never uttered the words "your honor" -- not a single time. People ask me why -- this is why.
The fact that the judge warned the prosecution multiple times after being caught withholding evidence from the defense and they still suffered no penalty when continually violating the judge's orders, should show that this case is a circus and should be thrown out.

It is so Bazar this whole ysl case has shifted to nothing but ex parte, motions denied, rulings, from this judge who clearly needs to step down. It's dragging and dragging and no change has been made.
Here's the problem. This judge has been doing whatever he wants for so long that he panicked when he got called out. He's so used to unquestionable authority that he didn't know what to do. So he defaulted to throwing him in jail. Judge didn't even know what kind of contempt he was holding him for.
It's broken. It's been broken. And they have no intentions on fixing it. And really....what's anyone going to do about it. We'll 'catch' one here or there....or more accurately they'll give themselves up. But there's a thousand more we'll never see.

That witness did NOT want to testify. That’s why he’s answering the way he is. Whatever happened in the judges chambers, behind the defenses back, forced him to testify (intimidation/witness tampering) but couldn’t control what he said.

There is no way this judge should be allowed to redact the transcrips prior to the defense being able to see the full transcripts. The judge sonewhat admitted the details of the meeting were accurate in what the defense stated.
The judge is, in fact, a witness and should not preside over the contempt hearing.

This judge is angry that he got caught. Bumpkus knew it was wrong not letting the other defense attorneys know about the “private meeting” …. It was wrong. He is trying to end her career. Defense have the right to have ex parte meeting with judge in chamber for administration purposes such as discussing schedule. It could be discussion material that could be prejudicial but the meeting must be disclosed to the other side .

I am a paralegal in Atlanta. I've actually worked with Mr. Steel. Absolutely amazing btw. But the judge should not have been allowed to rule on his motion for recusal. That should be a higher court. Also he is only giving some of the transcript which is very fishy. Something doesn't smell right in Atlanta and it isn't the water and sewage line breaks

If the witness was a state witness, why did the defense need to be there to discuss civil contempt of a state witness?. I think the defense is trying to pull a hail-mary to get their client out of jail. The question is whether they were required to be there?.

Judge Peeler should ask himself, if he were on trial, would he feel if it would be fair to him if his judge and prosecutors were having a meeting with a sworn witness who was likely going to testify against him. I bet he would have an opinion then. That is the perspective all judges should have.
I’m not watching this entire video but let’s not forget that the witness was under oath in that secret/probably super illegal meeting the judge is being so defensive about. Apparently that matters a lot.
