    One tiny update on this, which is otherwise an excellent description. When I was on Silver Cloud (December 2021/January 2022) every passenger was given (free) a memory stick with the expedition video on it, as well as a whole bunch of still pictures taken by the photographer and the expedition team. The video was assembled with very high production values, too

      Did people tend to be solo travelers or in couples/groups/family?

    • @PaprikaLlama
      @PaprikaLlama Год назад

      @@littlevoice_11 I might have been the only solo traveller. Can't think of any others. But this was over Christmas and new year, so lots of family celebrations

      @PaprikaLlama thank you for taking the time to reply. Did you feel comfortable and included in the culture and activities? Did staff still support you? Have you solo cruised on other Silversea ships or cruise lines?

    • @PaprikaLlama
      @PaprikaLlama Год назад +2

      @@littlevoice_11 Yes, solo cruised on other Silversea voyages. Yes, always feel comfortable and included. It depends on the individual, of course, but if you want to talk to people you always can

    Great video. Silversea is my favourite cruise line. Going to Antarctica in February.

    Great video. Would have loved to see you discuss Silversea’s competition on the same price category.

    Gary. I just found your video on Silversea Antarctica. Wow, this is exactly the information that I’ve been looking for! We were booked on silver cloud in December of 2020 but then Covid hit and that was that. You just got me really psyched to go again. And I especially appreciate your comments about the photo program. I’ve been trying to find out more information for a while now. Hope nothing in the last 3 years has happened to make you rethink your opinion on the cruise. Thanks!

    What are some examples of more basic/affordable expedition options?

    • @tipsfortravellers
      @tipsfortravellers  5 лет назад +5

      I am covering these in more detail in a specific video about Antarctica tips that comes out in a month. The expedition lines do the same regions and so will apply and I look at research ships and the more affordable (but still quite $$$) lines like Quark, One Ocean Expeditions and Ocean Endeavour

    Forgive a question from the cheap seats, but how big a deal is a butler for all rooms? (I.e. upper-end suites on many lines have them but Silversea is rare/unique to have them for an entry-level room.) One one hand, I don't need one, don't have one in the 3/4 star hotels I stay in on land. And it is not like Seabourn or even Viking, Oceania, Celebrity are Carnival and Carnival can be more fun than some snobs say. OTOH, it does seem like a cool indulgence for a vacation. In your opinion, is this a trivial nice-to-have or a noticeable upgrade for a lower-tier room? How much would it affect your decision amongst lines (assuming you were relegated to a lower-tier room)?

    I am planing for an Antarctica cruise beginning 2022. Silversea, Seabourn or Ponant are the choices. Silversea and Seabourn are about the same price. Ponant is about 25% cheaper. Which cruise line would you recommend?

    Hello
    I am going to the Patagonia area in November/December 2024 doing the Circuit O trek in Torres del Paine national park. Then I am looking to do an expedition Antártica cruise. What would you recommend? I am leaning towards the more affordable side. Thank you

    Silversea is worth every penny. The quality of the experts on board is superior so one learns a great deal.

    What would be a good upscale line for cruises for folks in their early 50’s that want to learn things, aren’t interested in all the shows and bar scenes, but love luxury but also don’t want everyone on the cruise to be toooo geriatric. Been on three Princess, a Carnival, two Holland America and the QE2.
