When I had my interview with AGA a few weeks back, they gave me a tour of the factory and it was lovely seeing how they do the stove enamel paintwork and seeing all the different colours of the parts stored in shelves prior to fitting it all looked amazing. I’m so excited to be working for them
I came across your site. Quite interesting. I live in the NorthEast of the USA. (NYS) Our governor is promoting “No gas stove” action for new builds. I don’t have a new build but since I am in the market for a BETTER stove that I have now I was really interested in the AGA. I am quite familiar with the AGA’s but felt cost wise I didn’t think it was for me. NOW they have electric cookers and that picks my interest. I initially felt the “AGA 60” would be just right. BUT I have been told by the dealers that it is NOT available in the states. Now I will have to think long and hard in getting AGA R7 100 or AGA er R100. These cookers are TOTAL electric and VERY flexible. Better control of electric. I now have a WHOLE house generator so having the power go out no longer worries me. (Thank goodness). Thank you for your info
Sounds like you're on the right track! And that would be awesome to have the generator backup if you're running an electric version. I'm convinced AGA makes solid products, whichever model you go with. Thanks for watching and all the best in your decision!
I have cooked a turkey in an AGA and it fits nicely in the roasting oven. If I could have one now, I'd get one. It is so easy to cook on all you have to do is move your pots to change your temperatures. So easy to clean too- just brush the debris out and wipe the outside.
Thanks for your video. I live in Sydney, Australia, and I have ordered a new all electric AGA ER7 100 (no flue, no plinth and no servicing needed). We get cold winters (not freezing), but hot summers, so I bought one that I can turn on and off easily and that I can use only one part of the cooker at a time if I want. I look forward to using it. Please do more AGA content if you can x
Hi, I've had an AGA for about 8 years, I love, love, love it. I've easily gotten 24lb turkeys in my ovens. Nothing can beat an AGA for baking pastry and breads. 2nd question, the heat, you can turn them off in the summer and cook with a grill, small electric appliances, etc. Plus they now make, dual fuel AGAs and electric ones that use electric and you can use a remote timer to turn the entire cooker on and off. For example you can program it to turn on a 6AM and off at 8PM to save money. I've never used the AGA pans either but you get really good and musical ovens and rotating between the hobs.
I can see this cooker being perfect for Britain and especially Scotland which is cold and wet much of the year. Small homes or cottages might even get by without any extra heat since the stove runs all the time.
I’m just about to start work at AGAs Telford factory as a product design engineer. Im really looking forward to working with the design team in developing new innovations in bringing technology into the new AGA products.
I bought cookware from Blake and Bull which is in the UK but they ship to the US. They have pans and roasting tins that fit in the ovens on the runners.
I've had the exact same model you have (in British Racing Green) for 18 years. The fact that it is always hot has been so convenient. I love how meat comes out so much more tender and baked goods are moist. If you forget something inside the ovens, they burn all the way to charcoal and you don't have to worry about a fire starting. We didn't have any outside walls in our kitchen, so we had to have the dreadful black pipe too! We are moving and I was sad to find out that they no longer make this traditional cooker that is always on. The woke at work. 😥
Oh no! So sorry you have to move. Maybe you can find a used one to install where ever you go? It's such a blessing and always fun to find others who share their love for the AGA!
We are considering getting an Aga… ok, I’d LOVE to get one… I’ve really appreciated your experience and thoughts with yours so far! We already heat our home with a wood stove so I’m a little concerned of our home then becoming too warm.. thoughts?
Hey! So glad to hear you're considering an AGA! That's a really great question. I'd say it depends on the location of both your AGA and your wood stove. If they're in separate spaces I think you'd be fine. If they're close by I could see where it could be a bit much. My experience with wood stoves is that the room they are in is as toasty as can be and the further you get the more temps regulate. It's similar with the AGA, but definitely not as intense. It also depends how open or closed off your spaces are. Our kitchen is pretty open and in the colder months you really don't feel the AGA unless you're right up by it. Hope that helps! I'm guessing it's very doable, but spacing them far enough apart is probably best. Thanks for watching!
There is definitely a huge range. When we were looking I’d say the average price range I saw them in was the $4-7K range. This seems fair to me for one that’s in good condition considering you are literally buying an heirloom quality appliance. And especially when you consider their price new. Below that is a very good price. Anything above $8K I’d want to really make sure it’s in great shape and exactly what I want. It was almost two years ago now that we were looking so not sure if prices have jumped up since then? Best case scenario is that you wait for someone who inherited one and doesn’t want anything to do with it and just wants it gone 🙂. Thanks for watching and all the best!
I bet you could! Maple syrup has been on our list for years but we’ve never gotten to it when the time comes so I don’t have firsthand experience boiling it down on the gas.
I really don’t know that I’m the most qualified to help here. I imagine there’s a way to pull off the little glass piece for access to the burner chamber where you can get a lighter in there and try to ignite on your own. Otherwise, the thing I leaned when firing ours up was to be patient. It takes quite a bit of time for the gas to run all the way to the burner and ignite. I thought ours wasn’t working for a while before it finally lit. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Good question! I haven't found it to be that different than any other oven but you would need to turn it off to do a full deep clean of the oven compartments and hot plates.
We don’t. There used to be a search tool on one of AGAs US sites that pulled up a list of fitters/techs but I’m having a hard time finding it. Your best bet might be to use their find a dealer page on the aga range USA site and ask the dealers if they can recommend anyone. Good luck to you!

I bet it was so cool! Thanks for sharing! All the best in your new position!

Thanks for sharing your experience!! So helpful!!
When you bring your vegetables to the boil, put them in the simmer oven and they will continue to cook without having condensation in your kitchen.
Awesome, thanks for the tip!

That’s awesome! What a cool opportunity!
I have made up to a 26 lb. Turkey. I used the large roasting pan with V roasting rack I had for my weber bar B que.
Wonderful! This is good to know - thanks for sharing!

Awesome! I’ve seen their stuff and it looks sweet. Nice to have things custom made for the oven compartments. Cheers!
Greetings from an Aga owner in Liverpool uk
Love your vlogs

On one of the Aga channels, they cooked a 25lbs turkey
Good to know!
The colour of your Aga is Claret.
Good to know! Thanks for watching!
People can buy a cheap electric roaster for the big turkey. I do that anyway because I want to free up my cooker for sides
Good point!
What's a fair price for buying a used AGA? I'm seeing a big range on Marketplace and eBay.

@@FromScratchFarmstead Thanks so much!
Wondering if and how you could make maple
Syrup on an aga ?
I bet you could! Maple syrup has been on our list for years but we’ve never gotten to it when the time comes so I don’t have firsthand experience boiling it down on the gas.
How can I light a gas AGA when the igniter doesn’t work. Can I do it with a lighter? Please HELP

How about cleaning? Is it difficult to clean since it is 'on' all the time?
Good question! I haven't found it to be that different than any other oven but you would need to turn it off to do a full deep clean of the oven compartments and hot plates.
Is the whole point of the Aga not to get rid of the has bill?
There are so many reasons we love the AGA! Thanks for watching!
Can you recommend an aga technician to call? I have a 20 yr old Aga natural gas cooker that isn't hot enough after i changed my eurosit 630 valve.
We don’t. There used to be a search tool on one of AGAs US sites that pulled up a list of fitters/techs but I’m having a hard time finding it. Your best bet might be to use their find a dealer page on the aga range USA site and ask the dealers if they can recommend anyone. Good luck to you!
Maybe you need a new thermostat.
Maybe you need a new thermostat.
How do you move it if you have a gas leak behind it? My AGA looks like your cooker.
The gas line actually comes through the floor in the front of the unit so it should be accessible if needed!
I love the beauty and rustic qualities of the AGA, but it would not be practical for southern locales…like here in Texas.
Definitely not for all climates! Thanks for watching :)
U can cut up your turkey
Good point!
They don't even have red available on their website any longer. Thanks for the info.
Ha, must be that outdated now! They do have some neat colors these days. Thanks for watching!
