I removed the batteries from mine because I'd get up in the middle of the night to get a drink, AND SUDDENLY THE WHOLE NEIGHBOURHOOD IS AWAKE!!!!!!!!! Edit: Holy cow, this is the most attention a comment of mine has ever gotten. It's so fun seeing how many other people have experienced this too. I feel obligated to do this now..... MOM I'M FAMOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny story about this guy. I got him for Christmas one year as a kid, I remember sometimes in the night I would wake up to or hear “i… am … DEVASTATOR” from my closer completely unprovoked. This guy never stfu for over a decade until his batteries finally died
i watched that video over and over, that Christmas i got him, god he was exactly what i wanted, i knew he was going to be a big inaccurate chunky blob thanks to sean longs video, but young me did not care. for the next few years i would wake up to random sounds in the middle of the night until one day i finally figured out it was him in truck mode (took them batteries out), he currently lives on the floor at the top of my stair case, still have fond memories of him and to this day i still sometimes find the random bits that loved to fall off of him in random boxes and whatnot
I had this toy as a kid it was pretty disappointing that each part couldn’t transform especially since the legion class could. But the size and look of it is still pretty cool
@@FANTA0909 I was pointing out how it sounds like the Devastator toy is saying Auto *Bats* instead of Auto *Bots* . Hopefully that cleared up your confusion
Dumb 9-year-old me was convinced there was a supreme class Devy out there that had individual robot modes because I saw the version with the red face and what they were able to achieve at the legends scale. Somehow convinced my mom to get me this guy, and I was so disappointed to find out he didn’t. The electronics were really cool, but due to no separate robot modes, the pain my tiny hands endured to transform him and the fact that merely walking the ground several inches away to him activated his voice lines made decide to give him away.
I got this guy a year or two ago at a convention for $20! He really is a pretty fun figure despite the lack of individual robot modes. Mine's missing his little mandibles, but it just makes him look goofier lol. I have him just sitting down on top of my Transformers cabinet, guarding it.
The Mixmaster bit brings me back to my days in high school when I would open my closet in the morning and I would hear a very quiet rumbling from within a box of toys I had stowed away
I remember, in 1st grade, my teacher knew that I loved transformers. So when Christmas rolled around, she called me to her desk and told me that she had gotten her nephew a transformer and she wanted to know if I thought he would like it. That woman reached under her desk and pulled this out. This. I couldn’t possibly explain to you how much I wanted this toy. That isn’t even the worst part, she promised me that if her nephew didn’t want it, she would give it to me. That demon, got my hopes up so high, I could barely contain myself. She told me this knowing full well her nephew would receive that gift and it didn’t matter if he wanted it or not he was going to keep it.
I think I still have this guy somewhere, I've had him since I was little. funny story, in 2018 when I had this guy up on my shelf one time, I accidentally shoulder-checked my shelf and it made Devastator fall, but at the same time taking out a South Park Kenny figure I had there, and my brother who was also there went "oh my god he killed kenny!"
Pro tip, if you push the grey lever to open his mouth, you can then pull down and wedge the dark grey flap under his chin into the clavicle area to prop the head up and open, which facilitates an all-fours pose!
I was legit just thinking about if you had this guy for a review. I love this bug dumb fella, big dumb lights, big fumb sounds, super limited articulation, and so much fun. Also, the tires on scrapper flip down.
If you think about it, the individual components not having robot modes is movie accurate: There's two sets of Constructicons, one that forms Devastator himself (that we never see as robots) and a separate set that joins the main fight in the Desert (and earlier in the Megatron revival, as one gets ripped apart as a sacrifice (can't remember who)), as seen with Mixmaster, Rampage, and Long Haul all fighting separately from Devastator at the same time he's destroying the Pyramids. If you *really* wanna stretch it, Demolisher and Scavenger both existed at the same time and are essentially identical, but we all know what happens to Demolisher.
Yeah this neat but unfortunately they just thought no one would notice them re using transformers, same reason barricade is the first ,3rd and final Bayverse movie
I got this guy well before you couldn't go to a resale shop without finding just Scavenger; had to go over it with paints for weathering and details, including painting the face plates red and filling Long Haul's bed with a muddy painted epoxy putty to hide the inside-of-Devastator's-leg look. I also happened to get Payload, Mixmaster, and Rampage as single figures.
I remember I wanted this SOOO bad, begging my parents. Only to be disappointed when I found out the individual robots couldn't transform. Then I had to spend months listening to him shout at the top of his lungs when I so much as breathed in his Prescence.
7 year old me was so freaking stupid. I was able to convince myself deck the plastic on the devastator was the most durable thing of all time, so when one of the fingers fell off of scrapper, I jumped off of my bunk bed and landed on it to prove that the plastic was strong enough to hold my weight 😐
Very happy to find out that getting this guy for Christmas and having to take his batteries out the same night because he wouldn't stfu is a generally standard experience for this thing lmfao
I got this on sale back in the day. I did extensive work on it, including using Bionicle parts to give the fingers ball joints and drilling holes in places to give it Mech Tech ports. But the main thing I wanted to do was make his head posable so he could stand on all fours. I replaced the head with a modified spare voyager Mixmaster so it would be in scale with the rest of the set. I then used parts from the voyager Mixmaster, the supreme Mixmaster, and more Bionicles. By the time I was done, he could stand on all fours, look left and right, and open his mouth like in the movie. I didn't get around to making it as stable as I wanted to... I got a knock off of the Studio Series set not too long ago. Once I did, I tried selling my modified supreme one on eBay but was unable to. I gave it to my nephews. Now I'd like to get some Lego Technic pieces and make a contraption for the Studio Series version to make it's head poseable as well...
I still love this thing. I still have this figure and I really like how it is. Yeah, I know, they cant transform in robot modes, there's only 6 members blablabla I don't care. Is big, chunky and noisy boy, I love it 🤩🤩
The weird thing is; I think this concept is accurate to the film. DEVASTATOR is one consciousness spread between several separate vehicles that combine to make a robot mode. Meanwhile, the actual Constructicons are the individual robots you see throughout the film, and they used Scrappers parts to repair Megatron.
god, i am just...really nostalgic for a specific video of this toy, i cant remember who made it, but it was mostly stop motion, and was honestly just really good
I had this toy as a kid! Sometime before I got rid of it, Mixmaster messed up in some way and it was only making truck noises even when clicked in, so every once in a while I'd just hear it randomly go off in my toy box.
I remember when ROTF came out and while growing up me and my twin brother were very lucky to get a lot and i mean A LOT of toys from the line and we had this devastaor and he was our pride and joy, our centre pice of our collection, we made him eat many autobots and lego as well however even after we threw him about and smashed him into our other figures over the years he never broke, the only thing that went missing was one of his flimsy ears but one of the most sturdiest toys ever imo. he finally shut up after the batteries died tho lol.
I got this for Christmas the year it came out. It was fun to tinker with every now and then but I donated to a local charity shop not long after I got it, it didn't have the appeal of individual robots combining into one would!
I had this toy! Dude, I would always put my lego mini figures in its mouth. I also remember that my parents took out the batteries the moment i started to abuse the voice button.
I still have this toy 15 years later, in my closet sometimes it’ll still speak😭😭

Quite a shame there isn’t a sound bite of him saying: “PREPARE FOR EXTERMINATION!”
