- New York Knicks news and rumors are hinting at the idea of newly acquired Knicks F Mikal Bridges following in his new teammate Jalen Brunson’s footsteps by taking a discount on his next contract. According to Marc Stein, the former Villanova star is eligible for a shorter and less attractive deal as soon as Oct. 1 or a four-year extension if he waits until after the season. League sources say that the expectation now, furthermore, is that Bridges is likely to follow Brunson's lead and sign a team-friendly deal of his own when it's his turn to negotiate an extension (he's eligible for a shorter and less attractive deal as soon as Oct. 1 or a four-year extension if he waits until after the season) that cements himself at MSG alongside his fellow former Villanova teammates Brunson, Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo.

He’s 6’10 which is not exactly a true 7 footer, 20 yrs old which is way younger than Robinson, Sims, Hukaporti and Skapintsev, played 61 and 67 games missing with injuries not fully healthy at such a young age. Knicks giving back Det first round pick is not ideal which will leave them without a first round pick in future especially when they traded all of them to Nets for Bridges

If Bridges takes a discount then I’m convinced some NY businesses with connections to the Knicks are doling out huge endorsement deals behind the scenes to make up that extra dough.
I think they are taking a discount to get a very good center. That would give them a very good chance to come out of the East. If that happens, they will get their money in endorsements. They are betting on themselves.
