Yep, one of the things I love about their videos. Clearly amazing athletes, yet very humble. Also the fellowship among the friends is great. Lastly, the videography and enduring is top notch. Fun to watch.
Just discovered and greatly enjoy your adventuring! This initial episode released some flashbacks of my own: Early ‘70’s, I and four friends did the first one-day winter ascent (we were told) of the Middle Teton. The peak had remained unclimbed in this manner because the hard-body, sweat-hog types devoted such efforts to being the first one-day winter ascent of next-door Grand Teton, annually. Unlike your bad weather day we enjoyed bluebird conditions. We used skinny skies with pin bindings to reach the summit couloir then took turns swimming ‘upstream’ in deep pow to the summit block. As we were appreciating a stunning 250 mile view in all directions a Leer jet shot passed. It appeared so close we were transfixed and then amused as the plane circled back and executed a wing-wave as they passed by. While both groups had great vistas, we fully agreed among ourselves that the jet occupants had the best seats in the house. A ‘one-day’ climbing classification means a long day. My chum Donny, was filming our trek for a college film class credit which affected our forward progress at times with him having to direct such bad actors. We had left our vehicles at 4:30 AM and returned there 22 hours later, and definitely, one of those “best days ever!”
I saw the second successful Middle Teton video, with its references to this attempt. Amazing difference. Blake's description of pre-trip anxiety is a classic. Happy to now I'm not the only one.
Seeing your latter episodes,I just discovered this relic !! My, things have changed !! Oh yeah, heading to Salt Lake, on a lark we hit lava springs also after the tetes.(didn't hit as gnarly weather like that though) Thanks For Sharing
7:37 it's a rough go for the long hair, I have been in the wasatch backcountry on my knees at some points working to get to the spot!! God bless your adventures 🙏
Such a great channel! Been enjoying it for awhile now and I've gotta say your cinematography and production has only gotten better. Thanks for sharing all your adventures!
So great that you guys are still putting these together, this is totally what outdoor adventure should be - friends and some gnarly fun. Good job - looking forward to more!
Great channel you have , thanks for taking us along on your epic adventures . I live in Roy Utah and get out on the mountain to hike a lot , I know all the fun you guys are having .
Love it! I always feel like a real idiot when everything goes tits up when I do the very basic adventures I do. So I think it is really good of you guys to show it happens to even people who know what they are doing. Thank you, it gives me hope.
That snow crunching on the the skis. Nasty! Definitely cracking me up :D The postholing. Stop talking if you're listening to this. "What am I, a 5-year old?", etc
I have been an "inside the gate" skier since I was 5. I will hike but it has all been inside the resort. Been thinking about doing outside the gate for a while now and happened on your vids. The segment on how to put on skins was the best. Keep it up!
Mate the bit about the whippets was so fucking funny! Loved the video, it's the first I've watched from you guys. I thought I'd start at the start. Good job guys!!
Hay guys! just a suggestion you can try doing a video in Africa. Kenya to be exact. We have Mt.Kenya, we have delicious cultural foods and the people here are friendly. I love Jesus ,I love kenya,I love you guys and I love this show. Visit soon.
Is this the very first episode? I LOVED IT! Don't know why i'm just watching it now, but it was awesome. I love the positivity, from the beginning to today. Great stuff.
Looks like you went down the Mediocre rabbit hole. This was our first episode and if we had any merchandise I would send you some for going this far back.
@@MediocreAmateurhaha, very kind thought! I love it all! Crave the adventure and you guys definitely satisfy that craving when I can't get it first-hand.
The day before you need to eat a good lunch but do a light dinner, preferably carb based like pasta with butter/olive oil. Avoid the silly sodas altogether, stick with water, juice, tea, or a little coffee.
Lived in JH for a long time, the egos there are rediculous. What I love about this video, no egos. You guys show it like it is. It's real.
Yep...original and honest. Love MA!

I love your show! What adventures will you be completing this season, and have you ever thought about southeastern states?
Love the videos you've been posting!
Best youtubers out there!!!
What skis do you guys use? You guys inspired me to get some mountaineering skis and boots!
That looked incredibly dangerous, but you made it look easy.
That was intense!
Glad the Tetons are treating you well and that you keep your sense of humor! Spinning backwards - Above mediocre!
Ha ha. I have watched most of the last few years. This is just the Frick and Frack of darkness , doom and hilarity.
Good reason to have ski crampons on hand.
when will dynafit sponsor the Mediocre Amateur??
I literelly think I got pulled over by the same police officer
6:48 - 7:45 : most mediocre amateur part
Is it just me or does Danny bear a resemblance to how Axl Rose looked 30 years ago? It’s probably just me.
My Mormon friend in college used to soak.
Y'all better get some ski crampons after 6:35!
Why are there not likes on this video
RIP long hair Danny... simpler times
So, is this genesis?
I need more backstory! Share personal details! Like address and family pics wait no not that

Blake and his girlfriend!
you need Crampons for your ski ("Harscheisen" called in German)
They have like the grip/snow tape they put on the bottoms
"Incredibly nice police officer". Or maybe just incredibly white passengers lol
The superb grandson consecutively hop because attraction contradictorily gather amidst a resonant sentence. damaging, bent coast
The unbiased song coincidentally squeeze because october nearly store along a aspiring grandmother. needy, sleepy teller
Stay away from Wyoming and most of the time in Colorado if you can not ski crust. It's called wind bro.
