- William Lee Golden's solo video from 1990 on Mercury/Polygram Records. This video was the number one video on CMT for two weeks in 1990. This song was recently re-recorded by The Oak Ridge Boys (with Golden on lead) on their 2011 Cracker Barrel exclusive release, "It's Only Natural."
Later rerecorded on "My Life's Work."
It's a damn shame that William Lee Golden didn't get more recognition as a solo artist. I've always thought he has the best voice of all the Oak Ridge Boys.
My cousin Vernon wrote this song. I always knew he was talented.. glad others can see it too! He is amazing!
i love this song know one can do it better than william lee
The manager of this group was found dead in bluff springs he was doing what the band wanted and lost his life i know williams great nephew and that is a story passed down
Now I'll tell ya what... this is what ya call true Country Music! Dadgumnit.. I don't hardly even turn on the raydyo anymore because of all that mess they play now. Once a week, Me, Peggy, Bobby, and Lou Ann invite Bill over and we sit around the old stereo, and play some real country music on Albums. Boy Howdy, now that William Lee Golden feller , when you think of The Oak Ridge Boys... well you just have to think of ole Bill Golden and that long beard. Ya know, that's his trademark. You see.. here in Arlen, Texas we love Bill Golden and that beard. God Bless Texas.. God Bless America.. and God Bless The Dallas Cowboys !! RIP Tom Landry.
Bobby's Daddy: I do agree with ya, get it done, keep your neighborhood safe and be careful about that asian angry guy who lives next door, he may have brought the damn chinese flu. God Bless America. Trump 2020
@@MrHenry1876 Now I'll tell ya what Mr. Henry... we definitely believe in social distancing and wearing our mask. Me, Peggy, Bobby, Lou Ann and Lucky, wear our Dallas Cowboys mask's anytime that we go into public. I've told Bobby, to be careful around Minn, that little Chinese girl next door that he hangs out with. Jiminy Crickets... Ain't no tellin' what her Daddy Kahn might put her up to...That China Flu ain't no joke. Me and Bobby went to the Mega-Lo Mart just today and he didn't want to wear his mask. I tell you what... that boy can be hard headed sometimes. Anyway, I'm glad that you enjoy Brother Bill Golden's music. He's one of the Hill family's favorites too. Yes Sir .. Trump 2020 all the way. We've got to keep America great!
It’s gonna be too tough for Trump as it is since he’s looking at life without parole in the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas.
@bobbysdaddy1576,
I’d rather just another four years of the Catholic man with the Hebrew surname of Biden because to get Trump re-elected is like trying to re-elect Herbert Hoover!
America might have to wait in line to become great again. Meaning, we’ll just have to hold out until November 2028 when we write-in the name of Rocky Adkins of Kentucky for the White House.
Afterall, he’s a decent man for a Dixiecrat, and he would sooner see Trump in solitary confinement in the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas, alongside of Putin.
Bill Golden.. The Pride of Brewton, Alabama. This Song should have been a number 1 Country hit. What a great Video. The Video was filmed in, and around Brewton and Dixonville, Alabama. I remember when the crew came to Town and filmed it. Great Memories. Thanks Kyle Boreing for sharing.
And that lady waving I think really is his mother.
I remember that too...I drive a Truck & was coming through downtown Brewton when this video was being shot.
I'm a PROUD ALABAMA BOY TOO...Satsuma Alabama.
Roll Tide Roll
What amazing is we were born and raised in the same small town of Brewton and East Brewton Alabama
@@djbdavis98 Yes.. That is Ms. Golden. William Lee's Mother.
We listen to this William Lee Golden cassette, down at The Barber Shop...
Great song and beautifully done by William Lee Golden and all involved. Love the video, sure remember them old red dirt roads myself, and the old chevy truck , I just noticed the choke cable that you pulled to warm it up from a cold start.
Great voice, great personality, and great song!
Wow... What a great song. I remember this video. I wish the song would have gotten more attention back then. William Lee Golden has always been such a great Singer. He puts a lot of true emotion into his songs. He's also a great Painter also. I've seen some of his Art pieces. Just Beautiful.
This is real country right here none of that fake Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett garbage!
Amen to that brother!
Brett Brown...Preach On...Preach On...Preach On...
I miss the 70s, 80s, & early 90s real COUNTRY MUSIC.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MOST OF THIS TRASH BEING PLAYED ON COUNTRY MUSIC STATIONS TODAY IS EVEN CONSIDERED TO BE COUNTRY MUSIC.
We have BLACK dirt roads in MN where I grew up. This song hits me where I live because the dirt road was a favorite spot for me as a boy in the 60-70’s.
My dad was in the 18 wheeler when the video shows the Brewton sign as we call it William Lee is a local hero here
North Carolina Red Dirt Roads! Lol! Love this song!❣
Very under-rated song!
William Lee did NOT beg the Oaks to take him back. He was asked to rejoin when the Oaks let Steve Sanders, his replacement, go. Steve had some serious problems at home and otherwise and committed suicide not long after. I lived in Nashville for about 3 years playing music and I have been to William Lee's house. He did not live in a teepee but had one on his property that he would use for native American ceremonies. Trust me. He didn't need the Oaks. They needed him. Of the four, he had been there the longest and wasn't hurting for money.
It is my understanding that William Lee and Joe ran up on each other in the grocery store and decided to talk. The ORB needed William Lee. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Everybody got their heart right and thank goodness. I want a job in that grocery store.
William Lee Golden...a proud Alabama native.
I live in Satsuma Alabama...about 20 miles north of Mobile Alabama & about 60 south of William Lee's hometown of Brewton Alabama.
This video was filmed in downtown Brewton Alabama.
This was a hit in my book. I love it. I remember years ago when I first heard it, it was great. I saved this one in my favorites. Thanks for sharing. Gwen
great authentic American song. this guy is the real deal.
I’m proud to be raised in the small town of Brewton and East Brewton Alabama same town he was born and still lives in today
Yesterdays songs were of everyday life of THEN. You are looking in the wrong place if you think all the good songs/singers are gone...You are just missing what you remember and grew up with.
Love this song, my wake up song, puts me too sleep at night
Very touching close to the. Heart wonderful voice lyrics and back up... I can definitely identify with that scenario !!!!! A Big Thanks from. Canada
This is one of my favorite songs
I really miss the smell of the red dirt clay in Gainesville Georgia I sure do I don't live there anymore and I really miss it...... I felt like a newborn baby cradled up in the arms of the Lord every time I was there.....
Just saw the O.R. Boys this past Saturday night at the Tupelo Music hall in Derry NH. Great show. They still got it and they are still humble country boys. Love the ORBs!
William Lee golden is the man
I Live in Satsuma Alabama...about 20 miles north of Mobile Alabama & about 60 miles south of Brewton Alabama...William Lee Golden's hometown & where this video was shot.
I remember when they were shooting this video in Brewton.

Make me think of my daddy and PawPaw,Granny from Flatwoods Louisiana
thank you Carla!
@Dosite1 I work at a Cracker Barrel, and have heard the new ORB CD all day, every day for the past 3 weekends. I'm not a fan of country music, but I actually like it. The band's rendition of this song is awesome.
That is his mother waving to him
The setting looks so much like Middle Georgia!
Great song !!!
just found this awesome comment. thank you!
We LOVE William Lee Golden! Linda Meadows Rhodes & Laura Rhodes Lee😎
I wish I could find this song so I can download it :(
@nomopms1 He's also a guitar player and more than likely keeps his right hand fingernails long for fingerstyle rather than use a pick.
great song
ahhh...back when CMT was good
amazing *--*
@8aPeach2 One of my favorite comments ever. Do they still make Lee press-on nails?
thats not lousiani thats travis road in brewton alabama
Ok, one more song written by Vernon Rust and recorded by William Lee Golden of the "Oak Ridge Boys" fame.
The branco truck my dad was driving it is just nice to see him young again
I agree with you. Country is going to hell in a handbasket. Some stuff is still okay, but for the mostpart, the new stuff is just bubblegum pop music.
Preach On My Friend...Preach On.
I miss the 70s, 80s, & early 90s country music.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MOST OF THIS TRASH BEING PLAYED ON COUNTRY MUSIC STATIONS TODAY IS EVEN CONSIDERED TO BE COUNTRY MUSIC.
MOST OF THIS TRASH IS ABOUT 2,000 MILES AWAY FROM REAL COUNTRY MUSIC.
It's because its went to the hipster crowd for the most part. They're all flash for cash instead of tradition and roots.
Yes my daddy was driving the log truck
Sabine Parish in the house..😃
If your truck dont start off column with a metal dashboard it's NOT a real truck ! God Bless The old iron.
How do u know that?
I don't agree with this statement at all... They needed him just as bad. I was there when this all went down. Been good friends with William Lee for over 25 years!
why are his finger nails so long
oaks couldnt make it with out golde they are all prima donnas
What the heck is it with those fingernails???? Oh mercy!
William Lee begged the oaks to let him back in cause he couldnt make it in his own,, lucky him they took him back.
relimes, Wrong!
If I was William Lee, I wouldn't have went back, he was better the other three!
Saw him in Aurora... he waved to me as I waved in appreciation to him!
