Great work! I have been barely considering a RP3+ for some time. I heard that PS2 was "not there yet" but it's hard to understand exactly what the reviewers mean when they say such things. Watching all of these games and seeing them rated into 4 categories really helps to understand the RP3+ capabilities without having to buy one myself. I think I'll wait at least one more generation.
It`s clear... some heavy games are smooth, some shitty games runs like shit, it`s an emulation thing, not the machine`s power. Change the emulator and some might work better, some might never even in gamer pcs
That's good enough for me! I'm ordering one right now since it'll be my first. There are a lot of other consoles I can play too. I considered it a nice bonus with more than 50% compatibility
@@matosco i agree, the ps2 was my childhood and i'm 30 to think the hardware in a $200 console is not up to par is funny to me, this think and the flip should in theory run these games like good coffee, smooth as silk. so its either the emulators or the way the games were made doesn't translate well on modern hardware but even then im pretty sure an emulator is intended to make those games run well so emulation thing.
Crazy part is with some tinkering in the settings, a lot of those games could be moved to the playable tier, the Retroid pocket 3+ is an insane machine, shout out to out to you for testing all these games!!
Many of these games that he tested and scored below smooth are already on smooth. It's just faulty testing sadly. I can see that many of the titles underperform due to my boy not knowing about the sleep mode trick.
Wow, never heard of the sleep mode trick until you mentioned it and googled it. Now that's a cool tip, will see if it really does improve the performance!

Not sure if I want one of these, my ability to emulate is shotty at best, also I literally just learned of this thing's existence. Still, I'm just absolutely amazed that someone came up with the concept for an emulaating console, and this was the result. Also it's super affordable, I love how it corners the market for nostalgia junkies just looking to relive a bunch of games they no longer have, or never got to try.
I want a flip so badly. But am hoping a Flip + gets announced. How long does Retroid take in announcing there upgrades? Any chance of it being this year or wait till 2024 maybe.

Honestly id pay over $300 just to accurately and smoothly play spiderman 2. It beats every other ps2 game in comparison. Best ps2 game of all time hands down.
Doing my best to be patient and wait for RP4+. Hopefully the 4 comes out before the end of the year and the plus follows a few months later. Using my Miyoo Mini Plus until then. I really want great GC and PS2 before I get something else.

Not too bad but I'm going to stick with my ps2. Some of these games I have on ps3 and ps4 also switch. I wanted to see how the retroid pocket 3+ take on demanding games like Scarface or the punisher. A bunch of the obscure games on this list are in my ps2 collection. Dragon quest viii is super playable on 3ds. I still have my ps2 copy as well. Gun would be another game to try on retroid or king Kong. Burnout revenge also blood Rayne 2 should be tested on this.
Even if I love the RPs in general, the RP3+ is an excellent cheap all rounder. If you want an Android based beast go with an Ayn Odin, that’s what I’m saving for
Glad i waited to get one til after a few firmware updates and there's a nice list of compatible games to check before i put em on the card. Plus having a soft modded ps2 and wii means i only have so many games in mind to play on the go. And this sucker is only $125 US right now! Go ahead and add on that grip and hall effect joysticks!

I think the hardware itself is capable of playing those "don't bother" and "patience needed" games. I think the problem is in the ps2 emulator that is being used. If we can get a better emulator build, I believe we can maximize the performance of those games.
The sad thing is, the emulator he used (Aether SX2) is now cancelled/hiatus by the developer after some drama in his community. From what I saw, the emulator is now picked up by others but it's not as good as it used to be. After the escapade, it's recommended you install a specific version of the emulator and not to update.

I have question, how did you get guitar hero 2 working? I couldn’t seem to get it working at all on the pcsx2 emulator not sure if I set it up right I couldn’t get the buttons working for some reason and it said something like microphone not connected
But I’m happy to see one of my favourite games raw danger works well along with the previous game sos the final escape imo two really unique survival disaster games also works well on the pcsx2 emulator on my aya Neo 2021 😁😁

How warm was your device while testing ? Mine gets very hot to the point it makes my hands sweaty (recorded temps between 75 and 83°C at most)
Based on my tests my RP3+ were actually not hot. Just a bit warm!

How do you get Suikoden 5 to run super smooth? I have frame dip issues after the first cut scene.
