    I definitely keep a running list of what I'd like to read in a month so it's a no pressure TBR. I can't wait to see what you're up to for June.

    Yes, yes, and YES!!! I agree on all points. It's fun, it is useful at times, and why not!?! Also, calling them TBRs uses a term people are familiar with on booktube to describe or stack of books. It shouldn't matter whether or not we read them so long as we're reading something. Plus, it's interesting to hear why someone didn't read something.

    I love watching TBR videos and I also love to make my own TBR. I love making lists too and I also love to have a plan but I almost never complete them 🙈 (that goes for TBR but also for house chores 😅). Basically, I'm a mood reader but at the same time I love to plan the perfect reading schedule and sequence. Oh, here's my emoji 📝

    I like watching tbr videos, so glad you're continuing!!
    Each month I have book club book, a buddy read, tbr spin and Ben's reading challenge. Anything after that is free choice (women's prize excluded!!).
    I make sort of tbrs, I guess at the moment I talk about the plans at the end of my Friday reads videos.
    I totally agree that making a tbr for a readathon is sooo fun (& better than reading the books 😂).

    Interesting topic, Alice. 😊 I don’t read e-books either. I love a physical book. I’ve recently started listening to audiobooks, but it has to fit a certain criteria in order for me to stay engaged. My preference for reading is a physical book.
    I abandoned making monthly TBRs around the new year and feel more free. I could never read all the books each month, and I’m a mood reader. So, I was feeling constricted by my monthly TBR. Also, I don’t have the time to film videos like I did last year, so I decided to scrap the monthly TBR in favor of a monthly wrap up.
    I will make a TBR (pile of possibilities, really) for my readathons, knowing I might not get to all of the selections, but the readathon TBR is mainly to keep me organized and help give my friends who are participating some recommendations.
    I love your reasons for continuing to make TBRS. 😊 I love to shop my shelves for readathons, too. Enjoyable video. 🌸 Happy Reading! 📚

    • @AliceandtheGiantBookshelf
      @AliceandtheGiantBookshelf  3 месяца назад +1

      I would agree on audiobooks, I’m certainly fussier about what I listen to and will be quite careful listening to samples because I find it hard to pay attention if I don’t get on with the narrator. Physical books all the way!
      Can completely understand needing to scrap the monthly TBR to fit in other things too. I love shopping my shelves but I think sometimes I get too carried away with how many readathons I think I can manage. 😂 Happy reading, Kat! 😊📚

    I‘m a very list oriented person, so I don’t love it when I don’t cross off everything on my TBR! This is why I rarely create monthly TBR videos, last year I created seasonal TBRs to give myself more time to read (not that I managed to read all lol).

    At the minute I'm acing my tbr's and reading everything or almost everything off of them. But give it a few months and I'm sure that I'll be failing every tbr and not reading anything from them 🤣 but I like having the option of structure, whether or not I follow the structure!

    My tbr is all over the place: sometimes I have one, sometimes not, sometimes I put my books in order of how I want to read them, sometimes not, sometimes a book will launch itself into my hands, and I have to drop everything and read that one. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I, too, absolutely love lists, so I sometimes watch booktube for recommendations, sometimes..... er.... who am I kidding, I always do this! I love to make TBR lists but once I make the list, I’m kinda rebellious and say to myself “but you are not the boss of me!” I also have to “gear up” to read a significant book with lots of drama or investing on my part. Demon Copperhead and Razorblade Tears are two examples. Ken Follett’s Pillars of the Earth is a book I really want to read but I’m not sure I want to invest the time. Sigh!

    • @AliceandtheGiantBookshelf

    I love TBR videos, but I love anything about books. 😂 I have an informal TBR every month because I do book clubs and buddy reads, but I’ve been thinking that I need to start slotting in more that I have on my shelves. 🤔I used to do a TBR but at the end of last year, I realized that half the books slid into the next month and the end of the year, there was a stack I hadn't read. I love to read, but I have limited time. This month I took off all group reads because I wanted to finish the books I have been reading. I am doing very well, and I am enjoying it. I have a literal stack of books I want to get to next on my writing desk, and when I read one and I go to my bookshelf and pick a non-read book to replace it and read that. It just seems more efficient to me. Next month I will do group reads again but I will only pick one book, that way my reading is fun and I don't get stressed or depressed.

    • @AliceandtheGiantBookshelf
      @AliceandtheGiantBookshelf  4 месяца назад +1

      Great idea to take a finishing off month! Thanks for sharing what you do with your stack, I love hearing how people organise their books and TBR. That’s so sensible to pick one group read only, I definitely did too many buddy and group reads for comfort sometimes in the past and I’ve cut down to ensure reading stays enjoyable. 😊📚

    • @sherrirabinowitz4618
      @sherrirabinowitz4618 4 месяца назад

      @@AliceandtheGiantBookshelf thank you, finishing the books is fun and a relief. Without the self-imposed pressure I seem to read faster, even though I have the same amount of reading time. I have only dnf'd one book this month. And it made me think that sometimes I didn't get along with a book because I was stressed and in a bad mood. And most of all worried about finishing on time. The good thing is that if a group read is a re-read I can just slip in an audio book next month and that will cut my read my time, so my group read will be done and I can focus on my for fun reads. So far, so good.☺

    I love watching your TBR (or PoP) videos!! I have unread books in 4 areas of my home. I rotate among the 4, treating them like a PoP and choosing a book from each area in sequence. One area is predominantly fantasy and another contains my oldest unread books. The other 2 are a mix of genres with mystery being the dominant choice. I own more books than I can possibly read in my lifetime, but I have fun looking through them to pick out the next read!!

    I love a tbr video, especially those that include a game or random selection. I’ve made the mistake of counting how many unread books I have on my shelves and it would appear that I too have ‘way too many books ( in the same ball park as you). Do you know what proportion of the books you read each month come from your physical tbr?

    • @AliceandtheGiantBookshelf
      @AliceandtheGiantBookshelf  4 месяца назад +1

      Not exactly, but I could work out that stat from my wrap ups as I always make a graphic that breaks down how many were books, audiobooks, physical TBR, library books etc. I love a good stat so I am trying to track this on StoryGraph now as well by tagging the physical TBR books. I’m always glad I’m not the only one with “way too many books”- always good to have a selection on hand though! 😊📚

      So far this year I’ve read 56 books, of which 22 were from the physical TBR so that’s 39% roughly so far.
      January 6/14
      February 6/9
      March 4/10 and
      April 4/17
