I always liked Chase. Despite being a villain he's a man of honor and keeps his word. Also that he sees the Wu as a crutch and would rather depend on his own strength and skill. Like the man said. True strength comes from within.
He was a very good man at one point. I guess whatever Hannibal gave him couldn’t wipe out all of his original traits. Of course they’re still warped beyond recognition.

I think what made him so good was the context he was in, he stood out from EVERYONE else. a yellow low centered of gravityed monk who does midair spins fighting a chase young, who's both properly armored, and has very few un-realistically exaggerated movments in battle. He also has a more mature world view, and says things like "true strength comes from within", something any other show uses as a lesson for the protagonist, he exhibits honor and virtues, even as a self proclaimed evil enthusiast. In a serious show he would have just made sense, but with such unassuming context he really stands out and comes into his ownm

I think he sees a lot of himself in him. Because Chase betrayed his friends and sold his humanity to be the strongest, and Omi wants to be the best, but accepts Raymundo having the bigger role in the end (unlike Chase, he isn't envious and doesn't take shortcuts to become strong in his own ways)
Lawfull evil. He has a deep code that he follows and part of it is built upon the good teachings of the Shaolin monks so it can be percieved as good. Problem is the evil part is so much greater.
Chase Young was everything a super evil genius was suppose to be. Cold, calm, collected, super smart, super strong, ultra skilled and capable of transforming into a monster.
Hard to believe this is the same guy who voices the most persistent NPCs in Skyrim. Now I'm just imagining Chase telling someone he has a message to deliver.
So amazing and outstanding how he blocked and dodged Omi's attacks until he tires him out. That allowed him to easily defeat Omi by just throwing his bowl.
I think a lot of that has to do with they are the reincarnated spirits of fallen Warriors so their battle prowess is increased, Dojo is also outnumbered, and he also knows what Chase is capable of, Dojo turning into a big dragon is like a feast for Chase Young who would have no problem taking him down, Dojo isn’t a battle dragon he’s more like Mushu, known for wisdom and taking care of his master
This show was like a fever dream! I remeber bits of it and one was this badass!! Powerful, evil yet.. honorable... What ever turned him evil didnt strip him of his honor or nobler nature.
I wouldn't go as far as to say he's noble. But yes there is something truly impressive about a person who despite being truly evil, cruel and cunning still keeps his promises and never goes back on his words

Chase Young is one of the top villains from my childhood. His skills far surpasses the need to even use shen gon wu, he keeps his word and is willing to work with the young monks. Classy yet dangerous Also 2:16 I had the EXACT reaction the monks had when I first saw his transformation lol

A villain with a code of honor who would ironically become something of a mentor that would ultimately play a major role in the protagonist’s growth as a character. Also, I think Jack Spicer had genuine potential to be good villain. For the love of Shaolin, stay with me. With his technological capabilities and being around the same age area as the protagonists, we could’ve had a young evil Tony Stark. A great foil to the heroes, who use martial arts and chi energy. And hell, since he IS a teen, we could have moments of Jack just being a nerdy teenager. Gaming, tinkering just for fun, even hang out with the heroes over ice cream, or at an arcade. Don’t get me wrong, I like Jack as a character, I just can’t help thinking he could have been, well, more than what we got. 🤷♂️
That would have been cool, like throughout the show he never really developed, the closest he got was working with the monks to overthrow Wuya. If anything with how often he is exposed to the cast, he himself could if not should have improved in Discipline and some reactive skill. Especially since he is aware of who Chase Young is and his skill.
There were hints of that throughout the show, but I agree they should have been better developed. He had a lot of potential, if only in his ability to spawn minions, only as limited as his resources. In fairness though, only Chase Young was utilized properly on a regular basis. Wuya and Roy Bean should have had much more impact on the plot then they did.

Jack was never dumb, but Wuya was always the one introducing cosmic game changers and inspiring out of the box thinking. At some point though, she became just a lazy villian groupie. Roy has some big build up, but he never actually arrived as his own character. The most memorable sole arc he had was basically a rehash of Jack's plot involving the Shadow of Fear.
Chase is by far the better manipulator though. Slade had to take four Titans hostage while Chase would most likely have sniffed out the weakest of the Titans and found a way to turn him or her against the others. I'm also willing to bet he would've found a better way to protect himself from Trigon.
2:45 to 2:52 to be honest, the fact that chase was a good sport about him losing to the monks in my perspective really shows what kind of good character he is despite him being Evil.

That's also what I like about chase, even though how he appears screams him being Evil a bit, he (like you mention and are adding on to) fights fair and recognizes the idea that he has lost and allows it to go as you mention with honor and is a good sport about the idea. Chase Young is THE perfect villain, saying he's a genius isn't an overstatement considering he manipulated Omi into becoming evil while simultaneously taking over Earth AND keeping Wuya under bay by limiting her powers in her physical form

Just reached the episode of his debut and wow, totally forgot how much the show got better at this point. The early 2000's was the last best era of kids' cartoons and I'm glad I was able to witness this gem along with many others.
Wuya went for the right chosen one, but didn't know how to turn him fully. Chase went for the wrong chosen one, but turned him multiple times. If Chase went after Ray, I'm certain the series would have had a bad ending.

Having this show up in my recommended randomly just gave me the biggest nostalgic slap to the face lmao. I almost forgot how big of a crush I had on Chase, back when I used to watch this show after school on cable. I loved the way he held himself with cunning grace and honor as a villain, not resorting to over the top tricks like Jack Spicer but rather playing the game of good and evil like chess. To kid me, those were the evil characters I admired the most. That and well, he was pretty hot with the snake eyes and long hair lmao ngl. Edit: Yeah ok it was the voice too but that's just extra points in my book 💀
Chase Young, Zane Truesdale, and Itachi Uchiha were my models on how to be a cool man when I was a kid. I think failed to be cool like them, but that's fine as well; everyone has their own personal, unique charm. I think it's good for everyone to try to be as cool as they can be, but I mean cool for real, and not be mean or rude to anyone. I think that's what being cool means.
You know just imagine how disappointed Chase would have been when he learned that Raimundo was the chosen one and not Omi. I'm sure he would have been truly baffled at that revelation.
The one character I was actually unnerved by whenever he came on screen, even when I see the shaolin monks get stronger I always think of "is it enough?"

He does have funny face animation but only when he gets annoyed by Jack or Wuya

Chase's genuinely an outstanding, manipulative villain. I really like this kind of villains. They're pretty admirable to be frank.

Having this show up in my recommended randomly just gave me the biggest nostalgic slap to the face lmao. I almost forgot how big of a crush I had on Chase, back when I used to watch this show after school on cable. I loved the way he held himself with cunning grace and honor as a villain, not resorting to over the top tricks like Jack Spicer but rather playing the game of good and evil like chess. To kid me, those were the evil characters I admired the most. That and well, he was pretty hot with the snake eyes and long hair lmao ngl.
