How does this guy not have more subscribers. He's awesome. He has a pure heart
Shout it to the world Fish Bone, I'm trying hard to build the channel. Maybe my community need to share these happy times with others.
I thought I was subscribed this whole time until I saw your comment lol
@@Brandon-tz5pn Thanks for subbing
Thanks for the reminder. I just subscribed 🙂
The Simon and Garfunkel thing is real. They had a free concert in the park in 1981 and nearly a half million people showed up. The Rangers were overwhelmed and resorted to vilolence for crowd control. Never seen Will Ferrel before? Well.. now you have to add like 50 more movies to your list, starting with "Step Brothers"
That's CRAZY! I've never read that
Paul Simon did one there in later years and 750’000 showed up.
@@AwesomeUSMovies it was utter mayhem, although the violence really didn't get the airplay that the concert did at the time. This was back in the pre-internet and pre-video camera era, when the story could be controlled.
I would say "old school" with Will Ferrell after stepbrothers, but he also made a memorable, albeit brief cameo in Austin powers: international man of mystery.
Which leads me to suggest: James Bond. I seriously think you should do a mini James Bond movie marathon before watching Austin Powers. You will totally appreciate it more because it is basically a spoof/parody of the Bond movies, that is still strong on its own merits, but again there are many jokes that rely on atleast some knowledge of the Bond series...
50 movies…and Step Brothers has got to be the worst of them. 🤦🏻♂️
I’m obsessed with this movie!!
“Buddy the elf, what’s your favorite color?!”
The mom/wife is Mary Steenburgen. She played Clara in Back to the Future 3.
"You sit on a throne of lies!"
Fun Fact: The elf Ming Ming, who appears briefly in the beginning of the film, is played by Peter Billingsley, who starred as Ralphie Parker in the classic holiday film A Christmas Story (1983).
Inspired Costumes Fact: The design for Santa's Workshop as well as the elf uniforms come from Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964). The elf uniforms completely mirror the ones from the television special. Most of the animals in the North Pole are also designed to look like the same form of stop-motion animation used in Rudolph.
Guerilla Filmmaking Fact: On the final day of shooting in New York City, it was just director Jon Favreau, Will Ferrell, and a camera man driving around the city looking for locations to shoot. They would jump out and ask pedestrians if they would be willing to be extras for some quick cash, while Ferrell paraded around acting like Buddy. Much of the montage when Buddy first arrives in New York City was filmed then, such as when he is getting his shoes shined, and jumping between traffic. Several minor traffic accidents occurred when Will Ferrell walked through the Lincoln Tunnel in his costume, because people were so surprised (and distracted from their driving) to see him wearing an elf outfit.
I think at this point it’s safe to say that Jon Favreau is a genius.
Also, the old guy in the all red sweatsuit walking in NY was totally random so the guy's reaction is real.
The whole North Pole sequence at the beginning of this movie is a terrific homage to the old stop-motion Rankin/Bass Christmas movies like the original "Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer" from 1964. Also the elf who plays Buddy's overseer is a grown-up Ralphie from "A Christmas Story"
That was Kyle from Tenacious D. He does a lot of acting. You can see him with Jack Black in "Saving Silverman". Also check out Jack Black in "Orange County" with Tom Hanks' son Colin.
Still waiting for American Pie sequels!
Christmas movie suggestion: "The Ref" It's an R-rated comedy that's still a decent family movie with great actors.
Will Ferrell is considered one of the funniest cast members in the history of the TV show Saturday Night Live. He's made many movies, of various acclaim, but his look and mannerisms crack a lot of people up, including me. This is one of his tamer characters.
Who else had a heart attack at “i don’t know will ferrell”. we got to send him down the Rabbit Hole:
Stepbrothers and The other guys are a must
Me I did!
Easily the most classic Christmas movie released in the last 15 years. A must watch during the holidays.
They could re-re-RE-release it to theaters, and it would still do better than any of the garbage they're making in Hollywood these days.
So happy to meet another person with an appreciation for Elf culture!
Jon Favreau produced Iron Man and directed it with Shane Black. His role as Happy is like a cameo. He does way more than acting. He's also involved in modern Star Wars properties.
Yeah…Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn kind of made their name together with Swingers, way back 26 years ago. Favreau was writer/producer/star of that hit film, which really should be reacted to more as a precursor to the modern ensemble buddy movie.
Another great Favreau film: Chef
@@deluxereissue Vegas, baby…Vegas…
I never snapped to it, but I believe you're right! That is Kyle! And the guy with him was Andy Richter, funny man and long time sidekick of Conan O'Brien on Late Night and The Tonight Show. Santa was played by Ed Asner, who was most famous for the character, Lou Grant, on the Mary Tyler Moore show. Bob Newhart was most famous for the Bob Newhart Show, A contemporary of the Mary Tyler Moore show. Before that, Newhart was famous as a mild mannered stand up comic, known among other things, for hilarious one-sided phone sketches. He was as in the vanguard of comics who wrote their own material.
When I lived on the East Coast, my husband and I would always go up to NYC in Dec/Jan for our anniversaries. It was cold as hell, but seeing broadway shows (Evita, front row was a favorite) and seeing just how magical it is during the holiday time.... I miss it terribly now that we're in the Midwest.
Zooey Deschanel (Day-sha-nell) really can sing. She even has a two person music group She & Him. She even performed the theme song to her show New Girl. She also has a sister Emily Deschanel who's also an actress and she played the lead role along David Boreanaz in the Fox show Bones.
My sister and I LOVE this movie so much. We quote it all year around... so quotable.
Peter Dinklage is best known for Game of Thrones.
James Caan is better known for The Godfather, but he was great in Misery. I recommend you watch him in the multi-award-winning Brian's Song (1971), as well as Alien Nation (1988), Eraser (1996), and Mickey Blue Eyes (1999).
Most people probably recognize Mary Steenburgen from Back to the Future III. I first saw her and loved her in Time After Time (1979).
I dislike Will Ferrell and have watched only 2 of his live-action movies, but he IS great in Elf!
Kudos for the courage to recognize Deschanel might be French, then immediately pronouncing it completely un-French in the very next breath. (It's Day Shanelle.)
When you didn't recognize Gimbel's, I knew you haven't seen Miracle on 34th Street yet! Wow! Be sure to react to the 1947 version! (And the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol/Scrooge.)
Peter Dinklage’s breakout role was “the Station Agent”. He’s best known for playing Tyrion Lannister in the “Game of Thrones” series.
Peter Dinklage is also hilarious in Death at a Funeral (British version, I haven't seen the American remake).
Yes, The Station Agent was excellent, and the British version of Death at a Funeral is one of the funniest dark comedies ever.
I remember watching the Raskel and Bass Christmas shows like Rudolf and Frosty and am happy they gave a nod to it.
The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear
This is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I love how "positive" he is. My favorite part is when that guy kept saying "call me elf one more time" Buddy was answering the only way he knew how. Thanks for playing this. One Christmas movie YOU would probably enjoy, since you're a big BILL MURRAY fan is "SCROOGED". Check it out. Merry Christmas. 🎅
As an 11 year old when this came out, Zooey Deschanel is one of my earliest celebrity crushes thanks to this movie lol. Yeah, that shower scene helped haha. But her voice and her eyes are so captivating.
Oh man, I’ve never seen this movie before and I’m 58 years old, seen many many.♥️. Thank you for sharing this fun sweet movie. (Elf’s Father ),R.I.P. James Caan, he has really good movies .
Mary Steambergan, who plays his Stepmother is a fabulous fun actress, if you like Sandra Bullock and Betty White, the 3 ladies are in a movie called THE PROPOSAL 👍♥️
Jon Favreau actually directed Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Disney's live action versions of Jungle Book & Lion King, and several other films, so yeah... he's been behind the camera as well as in front of it for many years now.
Favreau started as an actor. Did a lot of small roles then wrote a couple independent films that he also stared in that bumped him into bigger roles like a recurring guest roll on Friends the funniest when he fights in the UFC. Now he basically runs hollywood.
Zooey Deschanel (Jovie) is most known for her role in the TV show "New Girl," and also sings in an "indie" band called She & Him. Her older sister Emily Deschanel was the lead on the show "Bones," if you've ever seen that, and her father Caleb Deschanel is a cinematographer who has been nominated for an Oscar six times.
I guess entertainment is in the blood for that family.
I’d say so.
Her mother Mary Jo Deschanel was on the original Twin Peaks, as was Russ Tamblyn, father of Amber Tamblyn.
I love her voice, and I liked the sitcom she was in.
Zooey Deschanel is not most known for one of the worst sitcoms ever made. She had several successful indie films before going into TV.
Zooey was also the big sister of the main character in Almost Famous, one of her earliest roles
Yes, thst was K.G. from Tenacious D. Both members do acting. In fact, K G. is almost always somewhere in any move that OTHER guy is in, so it is great to see him do his own rolls. His team partner in this was Andy Richter who was always the second couch guy (i.e. Ed McMahon) to Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
RIP James Caan and Ed Asner
Bob Newhart had a few comedy albums in the early 60's, one of which won Album Of The Year at the Grammies. He had 4 TV series in total. He is 93.
That is Kyle Gass 😂- he will RARELY act in a film for when he finds it extremely humorous
One of my favorite modern Christmas movies, I watch it every year. Another favorite is Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds.
Jon Favreau has been directing for quite some time and with a lot of success. In fact, he directed Ironman himself! And because of his directing and the success of the first Ironman, the MCU was essentially greenlit. :D
This is definitely one of my favorite Christmas movies, a must watch every year, never fails to make me laugh. Great reaction!
This became a Christmas movie staple at my house the year it came out! It is in regular rotation every year.
You are soooo cute! This movie really brings out that big kid in you! I love that you clapped at the end. 😁🥰
Solid movie pick for the first Christmas movie of the season!
I don’t know if you watched the claymation or stop motion Christmas specials growing up.
Beloved Christmas classics for decades. That claymation segment in the movie is a nod to those specials.
And the little person actor who beats the crap out of Buddy is actually the actor who played Tyrion in the
Game of Thrones TV series
I haven't seen Game of Throne but I've read all the books so I know everything that happens.
@@AwesomeUSMovies and you are better off than the rest of us that way because they butchered the last couple seasons of the show...
He's an angry elf I die laughing all the time watching that bit 😂
Great job on your reaction! Also I have some suggestions for movies you should react to! Upgrade, Ex Machnia, Anahillation, The Polar Express, The Lego Movie (Also with Will Ferrell, Chris Pratt, and it also has a ton of other actors as well!) That’s all I can think of for now but I will come up with some others!
You might recognize Buddy's step mom from Back to the Future III. Mary Steenburgen.
The woman in the role of James Caan's wife is Mary Steenburgen, a well-known actor. You said her singing wasn't all that great, but she had a role in the film "The Butcher's Wife" (starring Demi Moore of "Ghost" fame and Jeff Daniels of "Dumb and Dumber" fame and recently Broadway as Atticus Finch in the stage adaption of "To Kill A Mockingbird"; but I digress).
Anyway, in "The Butcher's Wife" Mary Steenburgen plays a singer, and she's actually a capable singer.
Did you catch the Bigfoot meme reference, when Buddy is caught on video walking through that park (Central Park, looking for where Santa landed)?
She’s also an Oscar winner! Best Supporting Actress for Melvin and Howard.
My family looks forward to watching this movie every Christmas Time we all get to quote the movie! hope you and family turn it into a Christmas classic
My favorite Christmas movie used to be "Christmas Vacation", but when I finally watched this movie .. well I now have a 2 way tie and every year I have to watch both these movies on Christmas Eve.
My favorite part is when Buddy puts the Star on the tree.
That was indeed half of Tenacious D, Kyle Gas, sitting next to Andy Richter. He's an actor. Both KG and Jack Black were in The Cable Guy very briefly, but the two did not share a scene together.
Fun fact, Jon Favreau was not just the body guard in Iron Man. He directed Iron Man and Iron Man 2
You're right, that is Kyle Gas of Tenacious D. He doesn't act much, but he's been in a handful of roles.
Shallow Hal...mostly with Jack Black i have noticed
Loved watching this with you! What a great movie 🍿!! I love Will Ferrel so much! The wife of elf’s dad is Will Ferrell’s mom in the movie Step Brothers! Which is funny but you’ll need a lot of editing for language! ✌🏻☀️🎄
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
I just found out over the weekend that Ming Ming is played by the kid who plays Ralphie in "A Christmas Story". I had no idea. This is one of my wife's favorite movies and is a now watched several times each year.
He’s friends with vince vaugh snd jon Favereau.
Oh, I love this movie. It was an instant classic like Home Alone.
Zooey Deschanel really is a good singer. Aside from a big acting career she's also in a band called She & Him.
Bob Newhart is probably most family for his 80s Sitcom, Newhart. I'm surprised you don't know it, that was hilarious.
Jon Favreau has directed and acted for many years (I think his first movie was Swingers with Vince Vaughn)
And Santa at the start of the movie is played by Ed Asner (Mary Tyler Moore show and MANY others)
Ed Asner was also the voice of the old man, Carl Frederickson, in the Pixar movie Up!
Just became your 100th Patreon member!!!💯
Aw, you made me cry with your joyful reaction! Could have been the wine I'm having while watching 😄 but it was so wonderful watching your pure spirit!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this movie so much it became a classic and I have to watch it with all the other Christmas movies I love every year
That absolutely is Kyle Gass!
I really do love this movie. Great choice can’t wait to see what’s next
Such a great movie!!! I'm glad you liked this one buddy- easily gets you into the Christmas spirit!
I love it!
Great pick for the first Christmas movie of the year. I saw this in theaters as a kid lol. The first time it came out, that is. 🎄🎅
I loved it
It's awesome that you really liked this movie. I don't think I've seen you laugh this hard since the first reaction of yours I watched which was Happy Gilmore. I love watching this movie every December. Thanks for the upload.
I hope you watched my True Lies reaction that one killed me
People thought this movie was gonna suck. Hah! Now you gotta watch The Santa Clause!
Totally! He should definitely watch The Santa Clause (all three of them to be exact!) He should also watch The Polar Express as well!
Yesss The Santa Clause is my favorite 🎅
Jon favreau also directed the first two Iron Man movies as well as playing Happy Hogan.
Such a cute and fun film. A must watch during the Holidays
I think what I love most is the fact that during the North Pole scenes, most if not all of the special effects were done practically. If you ever have the free time, Id suggest looking up the Behind The Scenes facts, they're pretty great! This movie will always be on my top Christmas movies.
Will do thanks
And also check out Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
One actor I didn't hear you mention was Mary Steenburgen. She played Buddy's step-mom.
You would know her as Clara from back to the Future 3
Oh yeah, that's totally her. Well spotted
The moment I saw the thumbnail. I knew what was gonna happen. This movie is gonna make him laugh hard.
Oh and it did
My Top favorite Christmas movies are Jingle All The Way, A Christmas Story, Home Alone 1&2, All 3 Santa Clause movies, Elf, and Polar Express
The guy on the right in the one scene is indeed Kyle Gass
YES! That is Kyle from Tenacious D! It always amazes me who you know versus don’t know!
@16:23 Yes that’s Kyle Gass from Tenacious D on the right and next to him is Andy Richter the cohost of the Conan O’Brien show.
Mary Steenburgen, the wife is lovely lounge singer in Last Vegas. The movie has a bunch of old farts out for a time in Vegas, has Kevin Kline, Robert de Niro, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas.
Jon Favro is in charge the the Star Wars TV universe.
It was Kyle in this movie 🎉
Bob Newhart played Professor Proton on The Big Bang Theory
Elf is a must every year!
It IS Kyle from Tenacious D
John Favreau also Directed Iron Man and other Marvel movies.
Not sure if anyone answered it but yes that is Kyle
Bob Newhart, in addition to his own series, appeared on the big bang theory as Professor Proton.
R.I.P., James Caan.
I think you would really enjoy Step Brothers
Such a fun movie. Loved watching how much you enjoyed it 👍🏻
I think those toys with the colored lights were called Bright Lights.
Yeah that's it
15:29 The stuntman probably enjoyed doing that one.
Will Ferrell is a pretty big name in comedy, or at least he was for a while. Even though he plays basically the same character in almost everything: large, oversexed, ignorant man-child. His Elf character is basically that minus the oversexed part. Got his start on SNL. If you enjoy his comedic stylings you might want to check out Anchorman, Blades of Glory, or Talladega Nights. He also did voices of major characters in Megamind and The Lego Movie which were both great. If you want to see something with him that's a bit different from the normal stuff he does you could watch Stranger Than Fiction.
Jon Favreau also directed Iron Man. But Elf came first. This was his first big movie. Elf and Iron Man are probably his two best films that he directed, though the 2016 Jungle Book remake was also good (the only live-action Disney remake that was actually worth watching, IMO). If you want to see more of Favreau as an actor.... watch the rest of the MCU!! He shows up in the other Avengers and Spider-Man movies.
Zooey Deschanel is so pretty. Amazing eyes. Best other things she's been in are probably Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005, one of many adaptations of the Douglas Adams novel), or Almost Famous.
I know you are new to movies but it's still shocks me when you have no idea who these people are it's amazing how someone can go through life without stumbling across this stuff
He was professor Proton on the BBT
Yep, that’s Kyle from Tenacious-D. He’s an actor, not just Kyle from T-D.
Peter Dinklage is so awesome in this.
Bad santa is a good Christmas movie
Nice observation about Kyle Gass from Tenacious D! That was indeed him. Great reaction, as always!
if you can put in another Christmas movie in this year i recommend the Muppets Christmas carol, its a nice and charming movie
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
@@AwesomeUSMovies
I hope you will enjoy it
Oh yes! That is my favorite version of a Christmas Carol! It's weird to say, but I think it is one of the best versions out there and always makes me cry a little :')
@@shirw
Ive always felt the muppets had their own brand of realistic magic to them, its not that these parts are being portrayed by puppets but that the muppets are playing the part of those characters
Yes! Also is my favorite version A Christmas Carol as well.
You have to watch some more Will Ferrell movies, he's so funny.
Old school...that's a good one
Blades Of Glory is a good one as well! Also The Lego Movie as well! (It has Will Ferrell and a ton of other well known actors including Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, and Morgan Freeman!)
Rip Ed Asner he died on August 29 2021 age 91 and rip James Caan he died on July 6 2022 age 82
OOOOOOO! lol One of my favorites for the holiday! If you can squeeze it in (don't know if you already made a set schedule for the whole season/month), I recommend watching Klaus. It's somewhat a new movie (released in 2019) for the christmas season and it's beautifully animated.
If I remember correctly Jon favreau actually directed the first iron man
I'm not usually a fan of Will Ferrell comedies but I love this movie. My favourite Will Ferrell film is Stranger Than Fiction which has some funny parts but is a more serious picture.
A great intro for you to Will Farrell. He’s hilarious and YOU MUST do Step Brothers! THE BEST Will Farrell movie! Oh, and Talladega Nights !!!!! Absolute must see’s !!!!
Great reaction! I knew you’d laugh and laugh !!!!
Btw… the elf overseer is Ralphie from A Christmas Story !!!!
Awesome Movie and Work Bro, Thanks 👍👍👍👍👍😀 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it
This movie was perfect for you! Yes, that was Kyle Gass from Tenacious D.
