Lake Wappapello State Park Missouri - Scenes and Park Review

- This Park Travel Review is about Lake Wappapello State Park. We visited and camped there in June of 2020. There are 2 campgrounds in the park. We camped at Asher Creek Campground with a great view of the water. We had an electric site for our A-frame Camper. There are also basic sites available.
From the park's website: Lake Wappapello’s clear Ozark waters can easily be accessed via the park’s three boat ramps for fishing or water skiing. Fishermen can cast their lines in hopes of reducing the lake’s excellent population of white bass, crappie and bluegill, as well as largemouth bass and catfish. Swimmers gain access to the lake at the park’s sand swimming beach. The park's store offers personal watercraft rentals as well as drinks, snacks and other necessities for your park visit. Swimmers, boaters and hikers all have easy access to picnic and day-use areas, which include picnic sites, shelters and playground equipment.
Visitors wishing to stay overnight have two lodging options. Eight modern cabins with kitchens are available with advance reservations. Perfect for families, these air-conditioned and heated cabins come equipped with linens, kitchen supplies, picnic tables and grills. Four rustic camper cabins are also available for reservation. Campers have a choice of two campgrounds -- one perched on the ridge and one nestled near the lake. Each campground features hot showers, modern restrooms, laundry facilities and sanitary dumping stations. Campsites range from basic to electric hookups.

it's nice to blow off steam now and again at lake of the Ozarks but overall the peace and natural feel of wappapello is way more enjoyable to me. I grew up here and my parents are still there! stop in for Sunday service at Little Brushy Church while down there! ❤️
We went back to Lake Wappapello this year. It is a great park and campground
my grandparents live in wappapello, and my dad grew up there. My grandad owns a small lake by it too

How clear is the water here?
Thanks, Peter. We don't swim, so I wasn't in the water. It is not as clear as the springs and rivers of the rest of Missouri, but I didn't think of it as dirty or excessively muddy. Have a great week! Kay
Asher Creek looks great to me! What was the cost to camp? So happy that you were able to get out camping! We have a trip planned for this weekend - yay!
It was great and our neighbors had dogs that LOVED the water. It was fun to watch them and think of Lexie.
There is clearwater lake also in wayne county. Wayne county seems to be a real pretty area .
