      There are a lot of Finnish companies in Japan, like Marimekko, Koti Pizza(at least used to be) etc, so it's not the biggest surprise these days. Or well, shouldn't be at least, yet it still is everytime you find one 😂 Mustakivi was a new one!

    Really like the relaxed feel you guys have going on. Also nice to see things about the smaller festivals.
    Sidenote:
    As a Finn it's, almost, mandatory to add a mention about a Finnish thing in a video of any kind. The macha place's name is in Finnish and it means Black Stone.

      Definitely.
      Also the longing to nature and the spirit of perseverance.
      In Finland it's sisu and in Japan it's the communal spirit, the putting of the community before oneself. A bit different in nature but nevertheless similar.
      Also I do enjoy the fact that you can be silent if you don't have anything to say.

    • @antti-jussikemppainen305
      @antti-jussikemppainen305 5 лет назад

      @J G Well, it is exactly as you think. But when the country comes together with sisu then it's more in the lines of the Japanese counterpart.
      I miss the summer in Finland. This November is the darkest(the most grey) since the -00. In numbers it a bit under 5 hours of sunlight in the south an a bit under 0,5hours in the north. That is for the whole running month that is.
      As I have been binging on Japan videos of all sorts in the last month I must say that the weather looks much more agreable in there😁

    The mikan was so great and we had an amazing mikan ice cream whilst there. Also the castle there is stunning on a mountain top and great view of the city.

    Hrm. Japanese tag sale. That's cool. I gather Japanese folks don't so much value used things, but as a Yank I often have trouble valuing *new* things. especially at new prices, but also cause all the choices are bewildering, probably prepackaged and questionable, but someone goes, 'Hey, would you like to buy any of these old dishes?' (or whatever.) Sooner or later you'll pick some up and say 'Sure.' I dunno about over there, but old-school tools, that used to be the only place to find them over here, too. Also some older folks would sometimes be glad if you were buying them for more than decorations. It's kind of how I came by my antique chisels, even, was sort of rooting through some odd bits and spotted some, mostly sans handles, was 'Ooh, looking them over, was like, 'Hey sir, mind holding onto these a couple hours, I gotta raise some funds.' (for the asking price, could have been like fourty bucks,) He's like, 'So, you know what these are and how to take care of them, miss?" 'Yeah, that's why.' "What you got in your pocket. Sold for that." :)

    Thoroughly golden streetwork today! Quality material. Love your mics, but if you're going to use two cameras, have you thought of fitting one csmera with a suitable zoom and the other with a powerful prime? E.g. for the EF mount, you could break out the Canon 35/2 IS USM or any of Sigma's "Art" primes. Or is it just not something you need for this project? :)

    As an underfunded (well, unfunded) amateur photographer, I'm constantly hunting for hints as to what you guys at Tokyo Creative, Abroad In Japan and all, use as equipment. Your requirements are different than mine, so often you have some "odd" stuff. I'm trapped in a long-short paradox. Close for wildlife, long for scenery and architecture. I don't do much portraiture. Um, "long scenery?" I'm still trying to figure out how to shoot a massive mountain some 150 miles away, with the city in the foreground at sunset. Low light, of course.
    Anyway, I use mostly Canon equipment, largely because I got a great deal when I made a much overdue and reluctant switch from film some years ago. I see two cameras primarily in your video. Sharla carries a smaller camera body with a substantial lens and a mic. Later, in the matcha house (4:50 ish) a larger DLSR is on the counter, with a crazy looking lens. big focus ring, big flower shroud, and what seems like an over-long lens shaft. What is that? How do you use it? What was the camera body?
    I see mostly Canon equipment, but I've seen Chris Abroad with Sony, and I can't believe Nikon isn't in consideration. Do you guys have a preference? Are you sponsored by any particular brand? I know I might be putting you in a hard spot. Sorry. It's just that, sometimes it might be more interesting to "get into the weeds" as they may say, regarding the technical aspects of your production process. I promise I won't ask if you use Mac or PC for editing, the good software is same as... ...Er, I'm trying so hard to stifle further comment.
    If I ever have a moment-to-moment story to tell, I think I may move into film/videos, but mostly I shoot still photography.
