It looks neater with all that sheet metal and branding, but a more effective unit could be had easily for less than half your price. Harbor Freight 2HP dust collector blower motor (1550 CFM) is $215 including tax. Wynn/Donaldson type 17.6"OD/11"ID filter P181038 amazon is $185 shipped/taxed.Oneida super dust deputy XL 6" is $258 including tax/shipping. 32gallon rubbermaid HDPE can w/lid taxed $44. total tax/shipped cost would be $702.
The thing that is missing from this scenerio is the flap cleaner in the filter. Without that you may as well just do a cloth bag, as it will plug way too fast. You can get the Grizzly replacement filter with the cleaner for a bit more.
@@tonymarrazzo354 Thanks for the comment. I agree the flap cleaner is helpful. What I can’t figure out is whether the cobbled-together, DIY thing has actually been done. Or is is just fantasizing? Even if it has been done I’d bet it takes much longer to assemble than the Grizzly unit.
Hi Peter, I’m very happy with it. No glitches. Never pops the circuit breaker (on a dedicated 20 amp circuit). I think it’s an ideal set up for a one man shop ( running one tool at a time)

Cool, have you done this? Would love to see it

Is the drum metal and not thin sheet metal?
It’s plenty sturdy. Sheet metal but thick enough
Is it working well for you? Your video is 3 months old now so I figure you’ve had some time to try it out. : )
