- Excellent morning departure from the capital of the United States of America! Watch as we accelerate down runway 1 and lift off to the North over the Potomac River! Fantastic CFM56 engine sound! There are so many sights in this video including: the United States Capitol, the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Smithsonian National Museum, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Theodore Roosevelt Island! It's so lush and green here in the summer! Excellent service on board today's short flight! Cloudy morning! Not my favorite city but the most beautiful despite being a small Capital. The power is palpable. I think San Francisco, Savannah, and Charleston are beautiful gems.

Nice video. This somewhat compares to your video from fall 2009 of taking off from the same runway at this airport. In that video, you were on a US E-175 going to JAX. This video along with that one, shows the district of columbia, however this takeoff takes place in cloudy and humid conditions, as opposed to clear and dry conditions, and summer green instead of fall colors, but still nice video.
You have a good memory! I was surprised that we took off to the North in this one as prevailing winds are normally from the South during the summer! Thank goodness there was some cloud cover as the sun would have created a lot of glare without it! Glad you liked the video! Thanks for your comment as usual!

That's a really steep climb, noise abatement procedure required for taking off from Reagan. Comes in handy for sure.

Thomas Pease no. If you notice almost immediately after take off you bank a hard left. Due to the area around the White House being a no-fly zone
