Having amassed an impressive 25 hours in this game myself and reaching Silver III because I don't think there are many Bronzes still left, I'm amazed at the massive difference between lower ranks and higher ranks. But what I have noticed from my own games, YT content, and looking at gameplay from all ranks is that the main reason lower tier gameplay looks dumb actually stems from poor mechanics and control. I myself try to analyze the game, watch the field, then react accordingly., basically play how high-level players on YT say to play the game. Unfortunately often my fingers fails to do what I command them so I prefer doing something than doing nothing in actual gameplay. I'm pretty sure a lot of other players even in low tiers understand the pitfalls of ball chasing or not playing defense or blasting balls without a clear direction in mind. It's hard to play this game correctly if you can't control the ball or the car. Gotta try to win by causing chaos on the field. Still fun and surprisingly addictive. Don't think I ever played a game that made me sit for hours at my desk only to do training drills no matter how much I'm winning or losing in matches. Huge props to content creators that showcase how many things can be accomplished in this game with good mechanics. Had I not seen what was possible I would've probably been content to hitting the ball like on an air hockey table.
Ball chase good, you come a long way. Rocket league wasn’t made easy and it wasn’t intentionally difficult, I was where you are I’m assuming because I think you said silver I was stuck silver now in diamond and the only changes I see is consistency in hitting the ball, you’d only know how exactly to hit the ball by learning in frustration until your old sweat becomes your new standard. You can’t have positioning in low ranks I learned. Those guys are stuck there so it’s up to the better player to run the match. I learned that you’ll know pretty easy when your lobbies change only by good shots and ball placement. Tip for all, watch the corner don’t go to the corner

I'm plat and just touched diamond lobbies recently. In diamond there isn't need for toxicity. When they break your platinum ankles, then demo, then fake and you fall for it- You what a save yourself. I have played against grand Champs because casual matches. They passed the ball into my hood and I own goaled. But hey. Sometimes I hit the ball where I want to!
I’m plat 2 in 3v3 all my teammates ball chase and bump me to hit the ball when I can easily score it and I end up missing because they bump me so they can try and steal the goals so I can relate napkin
Solo q in Gold/Plat 3v3 is insanely hard. Like you mentioned, it’s almost impossible to overcome your teammates. People will say rotations, adjust etc but it usually doesn’t work because your tm8s aren’t doing it or they are slamming you/ own goaling . Getting people to play with is the only way to rank up in this game. I’ve been in Plat over a year now and just dropped to Gold in 3’s. It’s getting harder, not easier. 🤦♂️. Once you drop a rank it’s super hard to get out alone.

I'm a plat and most people that I play with always try to do some risky hard shots and end up whiffing and the other team gets easy goals, they also double commit a lot and don't know positioning.
