- Queensland Symphony Orchestra surprises a curious and enthusiastic crowd with a guerrilla-style performance of Ravel's Bolero in Brisbane's South Bank. The Orchestra relocated to the city's cultural hub in December of 2012 and performed the pop-up performance to celebrate their move into a new state of the art studio.
The Orchestra's conductor was Tecwyn Evans. The film was co-produced with ABC Brisbane.
Queensland Symphony Orchestra is renowned for its high quality, breath-taking performances of both classical and modern compositions that engage audiences of all musical tastes, interests and ages. You can find out more about the Orchestra's current season at qso.com.au Видеоклипы
Good on ya Aussies! Showing a love of music across the world and ages. The kid with his drum was a cool feature. Learning the rhythmBruns me tremendous joy. Cheers from outside Chicago!
theres not enough aboriginals in this video.
This is so beautiful to listen to. There is something about this tune, that always leaves goose bumps all over my arms. Wish I'd been there at Sth Bank to witness this, but at least I can watch it on here. Qld Symphony Orchestra, you rock!
i love it. so proud to live in brisbane.
Good to see the Orchestra members having so much fun. This is what music is all about. It obviously works by the positive reactions of the crowd.
I love classical flashmobs in music, dance and opera. The best part is watching the faces of the audience - especially children - and the pleasure which the performance gives.
I just admire the talent and dedication of these musicians let alone the wonderful sound they create with their instruments. Encore.
What I liked about the video is that the people of queensland are so lively and care for their state and their people and do things like that is quite amazing I wish I was there to witness this wonderful performance all the artists were amazing and very talented my congratulation goes to ALL of them
Fabulous, loved the little drummer boy, music and the old cars.
The little drummer (who played out of time) and the cars were superfluous to requirements.
@@AussieBrit Yes Nicola, the drummer boy and the old cars, were superfluous to the performance. However I am sure that the little drummer boy will remember playing with QSO in Southbank forever. It could be a defining moment in his life for him? The old cars were just “A thing of beauty”. This pandemic has turned everything upside down and I am pleased that we have these performances on RUclips to enjoy still.
This is fantastic !!! Can only wonder what the results would be if more of this was done with classical music ...
This has made my entire, sad day smile! Thank you!
Musicians are, indeed, ... a very special breed of human beings. May we always be fortunate for their existence!
One of the best Symphony Orchestra in the world.
And we all can see that they love it to make us some fine moments.
I like it very much.
Ravel's _Boléro_ makes such a great piece for a flashmob performance.
Just awesome! Uplifting! Wonderful to see the orchestra as 'real people' with their caps on backwards... I love every minute of it!
the smiles from the performers is worth the whole thing. well done and glad to see they enjoyed it as much as the listeners.
That litte boy stole my heart yesterday in K.Mart's. Never done it before, never met him before, but with his mum's permission I bought him some logos he'd been admiring for half an hour.
I always love it when Symphony Orchestras decide to take their music to the streets! What a great initiative. It let others know "what" they've been missing or should be discovering! :-)

This is a gift from God! And so is the little boy playing his drum.
Nope, he's lousy.
Beautiful and so moving :) The joy and pleasure on everyones faces is obvious.
Bolero has always been a great favourite of mine, what a fantastic performance well done everyone.
What a delightful & classy flashmob. A thoroughly enjoyable video. Well done all!
That was fantastic lovely piece of music lovely to see all the orchestra enjoy themselves and especially the crowds well done. London England
Just beautiful - a wonderful way to welcome the QSO to their new home. Loved the kids in the clip.
One of the most moving pieces of music ever written brilliantly performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. The production was excellent.
Hi Colin and Sue,
Have been listening to Blue Tango duo at the Merimbula jazz festival last week end.
They reminded me of you guys playing.
Sue, do you still have it in for singers when they close their eyes as they sing?
If so, then you would have been throwing a lot of Cheezels and Twisties at some of the female jazz singers over the weekend.
I now realise that the most enjoyable groups for me to listen to these days are the big swing jazz bands from the secondary schools. They have the talent, time to practice and the motivation to put on some incredible performances.
Cheers, Bill
Good to hear from you Bill. Glad you enjoyed the Jazz festival. Sue said its more the actions they use when people sing jazz. Best wishes, Colin & Sue.
I play this video for my Hand Drum students to expand their idea of where and how drums are played as well as all the call and echos, call and response of the music, so similar to ideas embodied in African and other World drumming.
Joy in musiand passion for this amazing Ravel piece! Bravo!!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant the way this piece began to unRavel...
Thanks Brenda for sharing. Bring's tears to one's eyes.
Fantastic. The camera work also made this performance special - bringing in the little drummer boy and those having such fun in the crowd. Good on ya to the drummer, too, who paid attention to the little one.
+TheseEyesGod - we really could have done without the little drummer, who just disrupted the video for me - until the closing scene.

@@mach037 Hey! The little drummer boy was having fun and he copied the profession drummer. Maybe he'll grow up and play the drums in an orchestra someday.
After returning to this wonderful video I want to 'feel' Bolero once again at QPAC IN 2021.
We're performing it this Saturday as part of our QSO Favourites event! Learn more: www.qso.com.au/events/2021/specials/qso-favourites
Beautifully done, in fact never heard better!
Fantastic. Wonderful musicians having and giving fun with one of the most educational pieces about orchestration. Thanks a ton. (Next time the long version please) :-)
Absolutely delightful. Need one of these happy surprises every day,
,
if the world joined more cultural events like this, we'd svoid misery & woars, as art & culture, not politics, is. the most direct solution to unifying our differences into our universal glue
Love the 'arrivals' well done. And the little boy!
So good to listen to. Brilliant !

They were amazing! I watched several versions of the song and they were the happiest group yet. Loved the background dancers (the 3 guys briefly on film) and the kid who kept up on his drum. This video was well put together. Would have loved the longer version.
Much obliged! -signed Right-Most dancer. (from the viewers perspective)
+calltanya back - except the little kid didn't get close to the rhythm until the final scene.
On dirait la bande de Mozart in the Jungle ! La musique est encore meilleure quand les musiciens semblent avoir tant de plaisir. merci !
