Thank you for making such a clear tutorial! I've been knitting for about 20 years but have always been intimidated by socks. I thought 2 at a time would be better for me (because I typically hate doing the same thing twice), but other tutorials made it seem so fiddly, I always gave up really early on. But yours I've been able to stick with!
I think it was on the "crazy sock lady" channel where she suggested when you're doing two at a time socks, you place your balls of yarn in a bag so then when you turn your work at the end of a row you turn the bag /bowl also, that way you're not getting all tangled up and your yarn is held safely in the bag / bowl. Hope this makes sense, x
I have been avoiding toe up socks because I REALLY don't like the afterthought heel. Thank you for the demonstration of another type. I think I could handle this one!
This looks so doable! As another commenter has already posted, I just watched through this time but I'm definitely planning on digging through my yarn and needles this weekend to follow along to the conclusion of a pair of socks for me :D
Thanks you for the excellent tutorial. I can use the methods you showed using double points...I've done two at a time on the magic loop, but it can be a bit fussy especially if I must lay down the work often. The heel turn is hole-free, and I cannot wait to make a pair.
I like the HiyaHiya Sharps a lot for my sock knitting. The cable is nice and flexible which makes preventing that laddering between front and back a lot less without a lot of effort. But I also still hold the cable close to the needle when I'm knitting the first stitches on the needle. And for the heel I use the Sweet Tomato Heel, I don't like the feeling of a gusset and my feet are also pointed down and turned inward from Dystonia which mak3s a full STH even too sharp so I usually work it for about 2/3 of the pattern. Same with a Fishlips Kiss heel. I have one pair with an adapted Fleegle Heel. They fit nicely but that gusset still hurts on my skin (allodynia or increased feelings in my nerve-endings which causes pain) so I don't wear them a lot. Since I'm full-time bedridden my socks get way less wearing out, no standing up or walking for me. Only when the Dystonia hits me hard it can hurt my socks but the yarn I like best for my socks is from a Dutch dyer called Dutch Wool Diva and her Sock Star is very hard wearing but also really soft. My mom does still walk and only wears socks from that yarn nowadays. ❤😊
@NerdyKnitting You really should indeed. Those ultimate flexibility and turning in the needle (only really on the fixed circulars, I believe but I do have a set of interchangeable bamboo needles from HiyaHiya as well and they are also a breeze to knit with especially when knitting with more slippery yarns). On my wishlist is the sharps interchangeable set with extra cables for more sweater knitting and maybe even some kind of skirt, I kinda like the idea of knitting a long fitted skirt with a vest in either the exact same yarn or an complementary yarn color.
@@NerdyKnitting I was always scared to knit socks. Watched your video and about to finish my 3rd pair. If the fleggal heal the only heal you do on taat toe up socks?
The needles you are using have a bend near the cable. They are not pictured that way on the Amazon suggested item. What are you using? Thanks, you are an excellent teacher.
@@NerdyKnitting Yes - the older version has the bend and the newer version is straight. This was done due to customer feedback, my LYS told me. You can't even get the "bend" ones here in the US anymore.
will this pattern also work if I have worsted yarn to make a more slipper type sock? or if I buy your pattern it needs to be the same size yarn in order to follow the pattern? (sorry still a beginner!)

Great tip!
Great instructions! I only had to restart 3 times and slow down the video and now I am on my way with a lot of confidence. Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
Me too, on my way now

I really need to get some HiyaHiya's and try them out - I always hear such good things about them!

@@Wanda-R-etc You've convinced me - I just added them to my shopping list! 😁
Very clear tutorial, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Can most sock patterns be done two at a time. Would love you to do. Video on how to convert patterns if possible
That's a good idea. I'll add it to my list!

Yes, that's the only one I have currently.
Thank you!! Finally, it makes sense. 😊
Yay! I love it when that happens!
Great video thank you

They are Chiaogoo needles - but I think they changed the joins.

It will work best if you use the same size of yarn. It won't work for a worsted yarn.
How do I fix my knitting with the yarn is in the front
