      Yeah but this is literally Marcus smart we are talking about. Porzingis is a good player but not having smart on the team next season is gonna be a very hard adjustment to make. Just went from 60 3s a game with decent defense to 90 3s a game to close to no defense.

    Marcus Smart was the Heart and Soul of the Celtics. He continued to improve in shooting every year. He set the defensive intensity for the whole team. He always stepped up when Tatum and Brown disappeared, especially in the playoffs. Smart should have played his entire career in green. Tatum and Brown are the reason why they can't get over the hump. Very sad to see Smart go. He was the best player to wear green since Garnett. Celtics just got very soft just like that.

      Smart was inconsistent when it came to shooting and he’s not a true PG like white and brogdon plus Derrick white is better than smart anyway so this trade was the right decision gonna miss smart but this team just got better

If it wasn't for him calling everyone out in the middle of the season two years ago & calling for a players only meeting, then they wouldn't have flipped the switch & made the finals last year. He's the one with the tough mentality that kept those two upright. He uplifted everyone & Always showed 110% effort. They'll still be good, hopefully for my sake, but everyone is going to see & feel the clear change in energy.

    Not a fan of the Celtics, but hate this trade for them. Smart was critical to the success they've had the last few years. He will be missed!!!!
    Great acquisition for the Grizzlies. Definitely an upgrade after they dropped Dillon Brooks.

    I understand what Perk is saying as far as Smarts leadership. But one important part that he's overlooking is the emergence of Derrick White. He was the Celtics 3rd best player last year. Even over Smart. He was playing really solid both offensively and defensively. It sucks to see Smart go, but I like the trade.

    I like this move for the Grizz. They showed they wanted to compete with any team this session, but they played real sloppy. Smart is going to embrace the leadership role and is going to teach these guys where to be and tighten the loose screw on this team.

      ​@@BombTradyignorant, memphis were 20-5 without morant in 21-22, 22-23 the front court got injured and they still ended in the 2nd spot, expect grizzlies (if healthy) to destroy other teams offense, become more efficient on offense, and get every offensive/defensive rebound. We finish 1st in the west, and go to the wcf vs phoenix. Win in 6-7. Win the finals vs bucks.

    Why aren’t the media members mentioning the only reason the Celtics ran the offense that way. Was because he had what 1 week or or so after getting the job that’s no time to actually create a scheme or a defense. A whole offseason this team on both ends will be drastically different.

      He could have still practised running a better offense throughout the season. It was a trial season anyways for him i mean technically the only reason they were labeled contenders this year is cause they still won a lot of games. But no one would have mauled him for having a 44-38 type of season if it was headed that way last year. Now this year theres real expectation but in all honesty, that latest trade tells me that they are going all in on last seasons style of play

      I do agree with you about having a whole off season to create an scheme will help.. But he has other issues that have nothing about getting the a week b4 the season.. They were in the Eastern Conference finals and there is a time out and Holford was leading the TO while the coach was huddled up with the other coaches trying to figure out.. I am not saying he isnt a good coach but i think he still may be in over his head with this particular group but only time will tell

    The real winner of everything was the Wizards. They got out of Beal's awful contract, Chris Paul's awful contract and Porzingis awful contract. And got a good young player in Jordan Poole.

      Can you blame him??????????????????? Not like Tatum was doing all that much in the 4th! He was so spotty as it were! Marcus was a glue for that team, he got plenty of assists for Tatum and he was the only one who could wake the team up at times. Initially, trading him seems like a terrible idea, we'll see how it plays out.

They get Smart who was the Def POY a couple years ago. and if they get Adams back and healthy they are going to be stout on defense!!     Porzingis hasn't had multiple seasons of playing 60+ games since his rookie and sophomore year. Big gamble by Boston, but that being said could be worth it since he's in a contract year.

    This trade is way better for the Grizzlies than the Celtics. Pairing Smart with Jackson Jr. gives you two DPOY players in the same line-up. Once Ja gets back, they could be serious contenders.

    I dont understand Perks confusion. Both teams got that they needed in the trade. I think there are certainly questions to be answered like health, defense, and leadership without Smart but on paper this makes sense all around. The CP3 trade was a head scratcher not this.

    Porzingus is a great pickup for Boston but they’re not going to be able to re-sign Grant Williams. They got 25th and next years GS FRP for Smart but those are late picks. Brogdons injury might require surgery which means he might miss time. Honestly their perimeter defense is going to take a big hit.

    The only time the Celtics played bad on defense is when they stunk it up on offense with turnovers and iso possessions. Smart was the heart and soul but that only got the Celtics to 1 finals and a number of conference finals. It was time to end the mediocrity and move in a new direction at point guard.

    A lot of Celtic fans tend to be quite emotional, including me i must admid. But with rational thinking, from the forbrain and which inhibit anxious thinking, this trade make sense from a business persepctive. I love Marcus, hate to see him go, just like Perk back in 2011, but it's for the better of a team that just wasn't good enough to win it all.

    Celtics got Porzingis who is a much better player than Smart and also two 1st round picks? I like Smart and i agree that he was heart n soul of this team but this deal was a no brainer and huge W for the Celtics, i can even say that this is Brad Stevens masterclass move. On the paper they're looking better right now with Porzingis and i think that they are not done yet with making moves in this offseason

    Is Porzingus a better player than Smart? Yes, yes he is. Does he fulfill the need for a quality starting big? Yes. Did the C's get 2 first round picks AND a starting player for Smart? Yes
    Did Marcus (great Celtic that he is) create a team dynamic problem with the Js and the coach? Yes, he did. Mr. Smart wasn't good enough to be lead dog, but he insisted he was.
    This was a great trade for Boston and Memphis.

    The other factor here is how does Brogdon feel/play knowing they wanted to trade him but it fell through. Does he just carry on like a professional? Or does he get all salty and in his feels, becoming toxic to the team? Knowing his personality, it's likely he'll carry himself in a mature manner but I always wonder when trades fall through how it impacts team chemistry and culture

    3:25- _FALSE!!!..._ The Boston Celtics did _NOT_ have the most complete roster in the league.
    First of all, the Denver Nuggets hold that honor
    ...and second of all, the Celtics really lacked interior offensive firepower. Who was their biggest threat around the paint? Al Horford!?... seriously? They desperately needed a player that could give them scoring on/around the painted area
    White will replace Smart at PG and Porzingus will start at PF and Williams will come off the bench and automatically be a defensive threat

    Getting KP is a good move from a numbers perspective but I still don't understand why we haven't put time into developing Rob Williams. No one in the organization seemingly spends 2 seconds on prioritizing his offensive game in the post. He can be more than a lob catcher. If we spent time playing and developing Rob, we wouldn't have to trade Smart. Shits sad man

    Man I love smart but truth is n the playoff. No one could score n the paint except Tatum or brown. Especially against zone. Porzingis will b instant offense to break the Zone. We’re not forced to only score on 3s. Now we have an in and out game. Smart Tatum and Brown all are 3 point shooters. Smart can post on small guards but it’s not effective to win a game. This is a no brainer

    Celtics problem is about loyalty they have a lot of disloyal trades then when you roster feels as an asset they don't fell compromise while they are playing and Marcus Smart was different he fells the Celtics t-shirt he plays for the city and at this point I think that both JT and JB see Boston as a business they only keep on the city while Boston give 'em the salary max possible when not both won't have any problem to request the trade to another team. At the end of the day if you want to win a championship you need players that fell goosegumps when they put the t-shirt...

    Career shooting 41/33/74 and averaged 12 points per game. He won't be missed. Dude can't even guard Caleb Martin, and people are acting like the Celtics just lost prime Wilt Chamberlain. He's an undersized guard whose defense will get worse with age, and whose offense is a liability in big moments.

    I love Marcus, but his leadership Perk keeps talking about didn't win a championship. I often times wanted Derrick White in the game over Smart this past year. I will always be a Marcus Smart fan. He was all hustle but this team needed a change and I don't think trading JB or JT was the answer. We will see how KP fits but we basically got KP plus 2 first round picks for Marcus Smart. Brad Stevens should have been fired if he didn't take that deal.
