If Kendrick Perkins doesn’t like it, it’s probably going to work out well.
Exactly
Yeah but this is literally Marcus smart we are talking about. Porzingis is a good player but not having smart on the team next season is gonna be a very hard adjustment to make. Just went from 60 3s a game with decent defense to 90 3s a game to close to no defense.
😂😂😂👏👏👏
@@ItzzShazey we are about to see.
Tyus and Jordan not having to look over their shoulders in Washington is going to be a problem
Smart is Boston defense . Defensive player of the year and flopper of the century. Will be missed.
Celtics “draymond” 🤣
@@boota1859 Draymond doesn't flop 🤡
Ok u win lil bro
Draymond pokes his opponents.
Smart in Memphis might be a good fit for their defense. Hope this not another Rondo in Dallas situation
Getting porzingis and 2 1st rd picks is a great return for Smart.
Marcus Smart was the Heart and Soul of the Celtics. He continued to improve in shooting every year. He set the defensive intensity for the whole team. He always stepped up when Tatum and Brown disappeared, especially in the playoffs. Smart should have played his entire career in green. Tatum and Brown are the reason why they can't get over the hump. Very sad to see Smart go. He was the best player to wear green since Garnett. Celtics just got very soft just like that.
coaches getting blamed, DPOY players getting blamed for mvp players not wanting to hoop 😂
you're wild for that 2nd to last sentence. lmao. smart is not even close to as good as tatum, garnett, paul pierce, ray allen and more.
As lifelong celtics fan smart will always be a celtic but Derrick White makes him expendable They needed front court help
Tatum needs a good 2nd option. Brown just flops and cant dribble. Trade him
Smart was inconsistent when it came to shooting and he’s not a true PG like white and brogdon plus Derrick white is better than smart anyway so this trade was the right decision gonna miss smart but this team just got better
Man that d rose dunk gives me chills everytime
This legit makes me sad, we're gonna miss his energy and love for the game
This is the best thing to happen to the Celtics. I think Smart was big for them but he is a bit overbearing for JT and JB...
Facts Marcus one of those players that you need in that fox hole
I actually started to tear up a little bit. BOSTON WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU MARCUS💚
Yeah but he will be fine they traded him to Memphis not Houston lol
@@OvertIntelligenceOverbearing for JT & JB..? If it wasn't for him calling everyone out in the middle of the season two years ago & calling for a players only meeting, then they wouldn't have flipped the switch & made the finals last year. He's the one with the tough mentality that kept those two upright. He uplifted everyone & Always showed 110% effort. They'll still be good, hopefully for my sake, but everyone is going to see & feel the clear change in energy.
Perk is the same guy that said to break up the Jays
He not wrong on this one tho. They rushed a terrible trade
Not a fan of the Celtics, but hate this trade for them. Smart was critical to the success they've had the last few years. He will be missed!!!!
Great acquisition for the Grizzlies. Definitely an upgrade after they dropped Dillon Brooks.
Yea he was like the draymond of the team
This is easily a fantastic trade for the Celtics. I love Michael Smart and I miss him heaps but this is easily a great trade.
@@Sparks2520not at draymond assist numbers is way better he also sets screens gets curry open all the time defense wise yeah but it’s a good deal
@@ShawnSiler so he deserves money because he set screens 😭😂😂😂 and gets assists sometimes 😭 y’all are too funny 🤣
@@Sparks2520 what are you even talking about I didn’t say nothing about him deserving money I’m just saying draymond is more valuable on offense to the warriors compared to smart on the Celtics you is a straight up clown
I understand what Perk is saying as far as Smarts leadership. But one important part that he's overlooking is the emergence of Derrick White. He was the Celtics 3rd best player last year. Even over Smart. He was playing really solid both offensively and defensively. It sucks to see Smart go, but I like the trade.
Another is how soft this team is at times and another is how erratic Smart can be and how that has cost them many games in my opinion.
Perk doesn’t like it because it’s a white guy 😂
@@ScottH.facts. as much as i love him and the hustle plays and heart and energy erratic is a perfect word. he would hero ball/choke in the clutch/ often disappear with a 4-13 shooting performance. that unit needs consistency. and i think white can be more consistent

I like this move for the Grizz. They showed they wanted to compete with any team this session, but they played real sloppy. Smart is going to embrace the leadership role and is going to teach these guys where to be and tighten the loose screw on this team.
Not even gonna make the playoffs next year but ok😂😂
You can’t lead the goofiness out of goofy
@@BombTradyignorant, memphis were 20-5 without morant in 21-22, 22-23 the front court got injured and they still ended in the 2nd spot, expect grizzlies (if healthy) to destroy other teams offense, become more efficient on offense, and get every offensive/defensive rebound. We finish 1st in the west, and go to the wcf vs phoenix. Win in 6-7. Win the finals vs bucks.
Good look for them but I still feel they need an a number 2 in terms of offence. Bane is good but he ain’t putting up 22 and 8 every night.
@@BombTrady u stayed with boston they still would just be a playoff team waste of time
Why aren’t the media members mentioning the only reason the Celtics ran the offense that way. Was because he had what 1 week or or so after getting the job that’s no time to actually create a scheme or a defense. A whole offseason this team on both ends will be drastically different.
He could have still practised running a better offense throughout the season. It was a trial season anyways for him i mean technically the only reason they were labeled contenders this year is cause they still won a lot of games. But no one would have mauled him for having a 44-38 type of season if it was headed that way last year. Now this year theres real expectation but in all honesty, that latest trade tells me that they are going all in on last seasons style of play
@@haniesmail3001there's only so much you can do during the season, with regular practices, film sessions, etc. You got to work on what's in front of you in the moment

I do agree with you about having a whole off season to create an scheme will help.. But he has other issues that have nothing about getting the a week b4 the season.. They were in the Eastern Conference finals and there is a time out and Holford was leading the TO while the coach was huddled up with the other coaches trying to figure out.. This seems like a true win-win-win trade. Well done all, although I think the Celts had the biggest win here (re-balance team plus draft picks).
Porzingis hasn't had multiple seasons of playing 60+ games since his rookie and sophomore year. Big gamble by Boston, but that being said could be worth it since he's in a contract year.

lol exactly you guys get it. i love smart as a player through and through a top 5 favorite player of mine in the league but he doesn’t do much for them. they needed shooting not more grit. and the tyus loss was huge.
Can’t believe after everything Draymond did the team is going to move Poole and resign him.
Unbelievable
I dont understand Perks confusion. Both teams got that they needed in the trade. I think there are certainly questions to be answered like health, defense, and leadership without Smart but on paper this makes sense all around. The CP3 trade was a head scratcher not this.
Porzingus is a great pickup for Boston but they’re not going to be able to re-sign Grant Williams. They got 25th and next years GS FRP for Smart but those are late picks. Brogdons injury might require surgery which means he might miss time. Honestly their perimeter defense is going to take a big hit.
Bad trade tbh
Kendrick Perkins 2021 - “I think something drastic needs to happen, and it’s not firing Brad Stevens,” he said. “I think that Marcus Smart has ran his course. I think guys are tired of hearing his voice in the locker room. I think guys are tired of his ill-advised shot-taking at times, some of his turnovers that he has.”
This was a good move by the celtics, puts more onus on tatum & brown to get it done. Porzingis will give them more versatility with scoring in the post
And more water on the bench after injuries 😂

The only time the Celtics played bad on defense is when they stunk it up on offense with turnovers and iso possessions. A lot of Celtic fans tend to be quite emotional, including me i must admid. But with rational thinking, from the forbrain and which inhibit anxious thinking, this trade make sense from a business persepctive. I love Marcus, hate to see him go, just like Perk back in 2011, but it's for the better of a team that just wasn't good enough to win it all.
Porzingis might be the best player in that 3-team trade but he's not a winner. Smart is. DPOY. He's kinda what Draymond is to the Dubs. Heart and soul.
Im not happy either we literally had the perfect trade with brogdon 4 porzingus but cus he got hurt he fell threw i don't get why they wouldn't have traded D white an Prichard plus the 35th pick 4 porzingus instead of smart
AI and Irving so good to watch someone with those silky handles crossing everyone up we need more of that in this current era of ballers
I thought they needed more of a point guard. Someone that can run their offensively efficiently rather than getting porizingis. Porzingis is very injury prone.
Perk was like they gave away Marcus for a pack of fish sticks and 3 biscuits 😂😂
I agree this hurt me but it needed to be done
It's a good thing Perkins feelings on the trade don't matter to anyone but himself.
Celtics got Porzingis who is a much better player than Smart and also two 1st round picks? I like Smart and i agree that he was heart n soul of this team but this deal was a no brainer and huge W for the Celtics, i can even say that this is Brad Stevens masterclass move. On the paper they're looking better right now with Porzingis and i think that they are not done yet with making moves in this offseason
I agree but Marcus Smart was the heart and soul of the celtics it's hard to see him go.
@@dwaynestjohn5324 I get it but they needed to do something and it was probably impossible to trade Brown for a player of his caliber or better so they decided to trade Smart. Is Porzingus a better player than Smart? Yes, yes he is. Does he fulfill the need for a quality starting big? Yes. Did the C's get 2 first round picks AND a starting player for Smart? Yes
Did Marcus (great Celtic that he is) create a team dynamic problem with the Js and the coach? Yes, he did. Mr. Smart wasn't good enough to be lead dog, but he insisted he was.
This was a great trade for Boston and Memphis.
Absolutely, especially when you consider the picks C’s got back and the fact that Porzingis is in the final 2yrs of his contract
Is Porzingis always injured? Yes he is. Good luck Celtics, traded away one of your biggest assets who helped you make two consecutive deep playoff runs for a player who can’t stay healthy and whose last playoff game was 2 years ago, having also played terrible in that series against the Clippers. Well, now I know the Celtics won the trade because perk thinks they lost and he’s never right
Man I want to see this new Boston team play now
The other factor here is how does Brogdon feel/play knowing they wanted to trade him but it fell through. Does he just carry on like a professional? Or does he get all salty and in his feels, becoming toxic to the team? Knowing his personality, it's likely he'll carry himself in a mature manner but I always wonder when trades fall through how it impacts team chemistry and culture
That's part of the NBA business for most players who are not superstars, and even those guys name get flashed in trade rumors. When you don't live up expectations and win, the rumor mill will get to churning.

3:25- _FALSE!!!..._ The Boston Celtics did _NOT_ have the most complete roster in the league.
First of all, the Denver Nuggets hold that honor
...and second of all, the Celtics really lacked interior offensive firepower. Who was their biggest threat around the paint? Al Horford!?... seriously? They desperately needed a player that could give them scoring on/around the painted area
White will replace Smart at PG and Porzingus will start at PF and Williams will come off the bench and automatically be a defensive threat

its good for the grizz and celtics that perk isnt about it. but "GUESS WHAT", when it "COMES DOWN TO IT" perk only has 2 non-sequiturs in his arsenal.
I love this because the grizzlies need a veteran leader in that locker room.🏀
Getting KP is a good move from a numbers perspective but I still don't understand why we haven't put time into developing Rob Williams. No one in the organization seemingly spends 2 seconds on prioritizing his offensive game in the post. He can be more than a lob catcher. If we spent time playing and developing Rob, we wouldn't have to trade Smart. Shits sad man
He cant stay healthy.
Im happy for smart. He is decent in the pick and roll. He will probably take the ball from ja at half court most of the time. They are a griddy team
What doesn't make sense to me is the fact that KP could have just declined his offer and then gone on to sign with the Boston Celtics. Then you keep Marcus and no one has moved
No ones talking about how Memphis just got a MAJOR upgrade from that guy that Pokes Bears
to DPOY Marcus Smart
Smart played better then JT an Jb in the whole playoff run that's crazy dude is the heart of the team

I think it good for the grizzlies that they got Marcus smart and it is good the Celtics got porzingis because they desperately needed frontcourt help.🏀
Already know there is boound to be beef in that locker room in Memphis sooner or Later
Man I love smart but truth is n the playoff. No one could score n the paint except Tatum or brown. Especially against zone. Porzingis will b instant offense to break the Zone. We’re not forced to only score on 3s. Now we have an in and out game. Smart Tatum and Brown all are 3 point shooters. Smart can post on small guards but it’s not effective to win a game. A lot of people talk about his shot selection. But if Marcus Smart was any more conscious of all that he would end up like Ben Simmons.
I agree with Big Perk and I am not a Celtics or Grizzlies fan. The Celtics should not have traded Marcus Smart he played defense for them.
Celtics problem is about loyalty they have a lot of disloyal trades then when you roster feels as an asset they don't fell compromise while they are playing and Marcus Smart was different he fells the Celtics t-shirt he plays for the city and at this point I think that both JT and JB see Boston as a business they only keep on the city while Boston give 'em the salary max possible when not both won't have any problem to request the trade to another team. At the end of the day if you want to win a championship you need players that fell goosegumps when they put the t-shirt...
Too bad Dillon getting the boot. Both of their defensive presences COMBINED with Jarret Jackson elite defense as well? Easily woulda been a top 5 defensive team🔥
Perk in 4 months when they got a winning record: they gonna win it all I told y’all this trade was good
cetics did all those work to try to get to the finals again. good luck I dont see them going back till tatum/brown level up, those two players were the only issue + mazzulla making them brick 3s
Career shooting 41/33/74 and averaged 12 points per game. He won't be missed. Dude can't even guard Caleb Martin, and people are acting like the Celtics just lost prime Wilt Chamberlain. He's an undersized guard whose defense will get worse with age, and whose offense is a liability in big moments.
This trade can eaither go left or right
"u kno what this means?"
I love Marcus, but his leadership Perk keeps talking about didn't win a championship. I often times wanted Derrick White in the game over Smart this past year. I will always be a Marcus Smart fan. He was all hustle but this team needed a change and I don't think trading JB or JT was the answer. We will see how KP fits but we basically got KP plus 2 first round picks for Marcus Smart. Brad Stevens should have been fired if he didn't take that deal.
