- Continuing from the last video; making more progress on my custom LED taillights. In this video, I explain a bit about my design process and get my main 3D printed taillight LED inserts / bezels pretty much dialed in! Next video we will wrap up the project with wiring and final installation on the car!

After all that work. I wouldn’t cover it up either the Amber lens of the factory covers. Would be cool if you can make some new outer covers that aren’t defused/ribbed.
Yeah, we'll have to see how it looks once I've actually got the LED's lit up and go from there. For now at least I think I'll probably just end up with kind of an OEM+ look in keeping with at least the main outer lens (still need to see how the inner amber / white insert looks with the lights on). **Eventually, I'd love to do more in terms of modifying lenses or learning how to make clear lenses / smoked lenses / etc. (in a professional way... and not just using VHT nite-shades or some spray... haha)
@@zakweeler look into vacuum forming the lens.
Better with inserts in, but having the lights done and installed may change your mind
Very true, once I have everything lit up I’ll definitely be testing with and without that extra lens insert and whatever else!
since you didn't have a 3d scanner, did you print yourself some radius tools? I came across this vid today, working on a gauge pod and realized I probably shouldve printed one of those. *looks at pile of plastic* Great work btw, thanks for posting
No I didnt, in this case, I was 3D printing just a straight length and then using a heat gun to mold the printed pieces against the factory lens inserts in order to achieve the corner radius. A lot of trial and error though still for sure… haha
Keep the Amber lense
