You know, I've been modeling and painting for most of my life, but I have never been able to hack apart a model with such confidence, let alone put it back together BETTER than it was before. That's so damned impressive.
Wooooow!!!! I don't build models, only watch videos of you and others in RUclips BUT I have to say this is the BEST video I have seen. Making modifications is top notch and they looked great.
I think the best thing you can, and you do it very well, is share the techniques you've learned and developed as a builder. You're very talented and simply by sharing these builds, you're doing a great service to the modeling community. Thank you, David, on behalf of all modelers.
I worked on these for 6 years. Good job. Just know that when the jet is running while wings are folded everything is straight. Only time they are bent is when the engines aren't running since no hydraulics are not going to them.
I just finished watching the 40 minute one he did on this plane and just realized something...I'm REALLY surprised, with his unbelievable eye for detail, that he missed ONE thing that you'll very often see with parked F-18s...one exhaust nozzle is usually open more than the other. IIRC, the starboard one is often much more open than the port. I have no clue why this is, but I've seen it in dozens of photos and in person at airshow static displays. That would've been very interesting to see how he would do that detail. This one, though, with the flaps, slats, rudders, and wing-fold is MIND-BLOWING. What a gift Plasmo has. I just discovered him and his videos today, by accident. And, I have ALREADY learned more techniques, solutions, and ideas in the three videos I've watched so far than I have in the past 47 years of modeling COMBINED!
The person who designed this at Academy was probably very proud of their low part count and ease of assembly. Then here comes Plasmo, cutting it into pieces! But to be fair, you did a very good job, thank you for the video!
This takes "model making" to a whole new level.👌 It seems you're limited only by your imagination and, using this method, you can build any version of a machine. I suppose the next logical step is to away with any kind of model to start with and just build from scratch with photographs and a vast supply of styrene components. It's certainly fun to watch, even if it leaves me feeling somewhat inadequate. Wonderful work David.👍 Cheers for now, Dougie.
David thankyou for sharing your modeling talents with us it inspires me and makes me thankful that my Dad got me into this hobby many years ago take care .Adrian
Truly a total A+ grade vid on how to scratch build a conversion. Not using 3'd party resin or the likes. I have learned so much from this vid. Awesome work mate :)
7:40 to save loads of time, and details on the plastic moulding, apply the filler with a stick in to the line, then gently wipe away the excess with a lightly-dampened sponge.
Taking it that giant step further! 😎 Amazes me how you can turn a simple basic snap kit into something totally remarkable, including your own moulded resin parts also makes it stand out even. Great work as always 👌👌
Can’t ever get enough of Mr Damek’s content, never seems to be afraid of tackling the most complex of conversions which make a run of the mill model, a masterpiece. I wonder David if you would accept a challenge to modify a civil airliner, say a 1/144 Boeing 747 in a landing configuration, full flap deployment with wheels hanging free just prior to touchdown. It’s a very complex arrangement, but I’m certain you would work a solution.
Great channel and great work. Always waiting for new releases. Recently, my wife gave me a present F-18 1/72. I will collect it as it is out of the box just for collection. But the work here is amazing. I especially like the information content of the channel. The tool, the thickness of the plastic, the brand and the marking of the paint, chemistry are always indicated ... There is always a lot of new and useful information for modelers. It helps me to make purchases of exactly what is needed in stores. Thank you.
*Hey Plasmo*, I am anticipating that at some time in the near future you will not bother getting a plastic kit to construct a model with anymore - you will just simply make the whole damn thing yourself from a sheet of plastic, some modeling putty, a few pieces of wire, a few rubber bands and some plastic glue ! With your amazing skills, the model would probably turn out better than any commercially produce kit could ever be. Amazing work David, truly amazing.
David, today i want to thank you for your great Videos and thank you that you share your work with us. They are the reason why i reactivatet this hobby after years for me. And my first Kit (a BF 109 in 1/72 scale) after this long time looks awesome, thanks to your instructions. Please stay by your work and share it with us. Greetings from Germany. ☺
The time and care you put into a simple model are astounding. I would love to see you tackle something bigger like a Trumpeter 1/200 scale ship at some point, even though I know they are insanely expensive and the upgrade parts cost even more. Maybe a Patreon reach goal...?
Awesome! You build dioramas....a cool one would be to have a navy jet on a base ready for take off. Blast door up, suspension compressed , catapult engaged, I think with your skill it would be beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
I do prefer the JLC saw & it's blades. It's magic in your mits, precise cuts and panel line repairs. But you are correct, the blades do easily break. This scale I don't touch, not that it's too small. I just don't like it. Great job on this kit, you really added a bunch of detail with precise cutting and attention to real detail. Nice work on the wing tip fold actuator. Casting also! Good stuff David!
OMG one of my favorite airplanes from when I was a child! Thank you! BTW your channel made me start modelling :D I started simple with Gunplas and learning all the tidbits to get to a good level!
Great project, and I love you are making the parts available in resin! Please! Do a fire engine! There is a large group of fire apparatus builders who would all be grateful, and it should open a ton of doors for your creative mind!
I’m watching your channel with great pleasure, although I don’t understand English ... The workmanship is amazing, beyond praise)) I wish the channel development.
One Word -WOW ! I thought from the thumbnail this was at least 1:48 , maybe 1:32 ?? Super Hornet one of my favorites . Good to see you again😊 Wales UK.
A few videos ago I jokingly said that Plasmo is not far from recreating the entire injection mould to get better results. It looks like that moment is closer than I anticipated. :D
Well damn! I now wonder why you even BUY a model kit! You have more talent and skill in your pinky then I have in my whole body🤣! You could just scratch build your own! This is pure awesomeness and a joy to watch! Thank you for sharing your skills with us all!
Amazing work! I had done this to a 1/72 Hasegawa F-117a and was extremely tough! Now I have a 1/72 Hasegawa F/A-18F in my stash with Wolfpack Design flaps down I’ve yet to build. Wish I had picked up the folded wings at the time and now hard to find.
Well done Plasmo, not just for a beautiful conversion, but also for a clear and easy-to-understand tutorial!! That said though, I think I've still got a way to go before I can follow it and get the same results...
Frakk yeah, Plasmo has finally gotten into DIY resin parts. Man, you've no idea for how long i've been waiting for you to do this. It's the next logical step, in model making. Can't wait to see what else you cook up, because now that the door has been opened, the sky is the limit.
This is by far your best conversion video to date David. Was wondering when you would start making resin upgrade parts for sale. Great plane to start that adventure. Thanks for dropping your knowledge on us. Stay healthy. ~Chase~
I don't want to make resin accessories on a large scale. I only made resin and molds for this because I am working on a casting tutorial. I do not have the time, capacity, and space to make a large number of accessories. So it is only one exception.
This has to be one of the most impressive conversion/customizations I've ever seen. I particularly liked watching you build the hinges that aren't visible until the wing tips fold up. I probably would have tried chucking a piece of sprue in a drill and using a file on it as if it were in a lather. I've gotten away with that for 1/25 scale cars building roll cages and the like but never anything in 1/72.
I ordered some vallejo paints to do my first model with my brand new (and first) airbrush! Cant wait, i hope i will make some good looking models like yours but maybe not as detailed and modified haha
Plasmo’s models are probably the best I’ve ever seen
He's so talented. And so consistent!
Ebroin Miniatures is just as good tho, probably even better. But much less consistent uploader.
Same
Jesse H. Ya agreed
It looks so easy too when he does it but I know it is not.
Check out Night Shift too! He does some equally amazing work, albeit spread out over a longer series.
You know, I've been modeling and painting for most of my life, but I have never been able to hack apart a model with such confidence, let alone put it back together BETTER than it was before. That's so damned impressive.
You and me both...on all counts.
I learned something new from this video, like the fact that my jaw can apparently drop about three times lower than I always thought..
Thanks to your videos i have started makin plastic models again, thank you! :)
Wooooow!!!! I don't build models, only watch videos of you and others in RUclips BUT I have to say this is the BEST video I have seen. Making modifications is top notch and they looked great.

This is not modelling this is art
Yay a new Plasmo Video🤩

Men watch top gun for the jets.
Plasmo watches them for his models.
Except there were no F18's in TopGun
@@TheBigCheeese85 Shhh
I made this mod to a 1:48th scale F-18E some years ago, I got bored mid-way and it's still in a box somewhere. You have my respect sir.
"..it's easy.."
this will be my motivation from now on....

9 seconds and a thumbs up... impressive
Lol...I give a thumbs up before I even start watching....because anything he does is always awesome.
David thankyou for sharing your modeling talents with us it inspires me and makes me thankful that my Dad got me into this hobby many years ago take care .Adrian
You are the best! And I don't say that quite often to anyone... I am more and more impressed with another video made by you. Congrats master
Truly a total A+ grade vid on how to scratch build a conversion. Not using 3'd party resin or the likes. I have learned so much from this vid. Awesome work mate :)
Outstanding eye for detail and the skill to make detail from nothing.
7:40 to save loads of time, and details on the plastic moulding, apply the filler with a stick in to the line, then gently wipe away the excess with a lightly-dampened sponge.
Cool conversion! The model takes on a whole other look with these mods. From basic to expert. 👍
Its a snap kit, how hard can it be?
PLASMO - "Hold my beer!"
He would be a good german. Take something easy, then complicate it. Amazing work!
Awesome conversion. Having just watched 10 seasons of JAG I am loving the Hornet & Tomcat at the moment.
Are you kidding me? This is extraordinary. You are THE master of scale modelling.
simplemente impresionante, adoro el F/A 18 y este trabajo es ESPECTACULAR!!! me quedo sin adjetivos!!!
Taking it that giant step further! 😎 Amazes me how you can turn a simple basic snap kit into something totally remarkable, including your own moulded resin parts also makes it stand out even. Great work as always 👌👌

Top-notch workmanship, easy-to-follow instruction, and excellent results. Thank you for sharing all of that!
I forgot you build model same as I do, This Plasmo guy is great.

už dlouho posouváte hranice modelařiny do kosmických výšin ...no a dnes ... to uz je hodně hluboký kosmír ...fantastická práce ! :)
I guss You are the best of the best modelers I have ever seen before in the world...
Your builds are fantastic and very inspiring. Thank you from Texas.
This dude is so good at what he js doing that every mods he makes is easy..
Hi David. One great video again! You are a plastic surgeon. Please continue.
Exceptional work. I like that you got such a nice build from a rather cheap kit.
Wow, absolutly stunning. Well done David!!
Man that’s one crazzzzzy conversion David, well done!!!
I just can repeat myself: You are a master!

David, an amazing tutorial as usual, thank you for another amazing video!! Awesome job on the conversion kit!!
Your videos are so peaceful to watch. This truly is art.
I found a lost piece while watching this. The timing was perfect as I found it at 7:41 and the music was fitting.
Always another level of detail. Inspired is what I am.
OMG one of my favorite airplanes from when I was a child! Thank you! BTW your channel made me start modelling :D I started simple with Gunplas and learning all the tidbits to get to a good level!
Plasmo's modeling skills never cease to amaze me.
1/72 working jet engine model when ?
Thanks. Good idea that is.
Your videos have inspired me to do a massive project for my bedroom
You sir are incredible. Every video blows my mind.
And I'm just happy when I don't glue my fingers to the model. Great work as usual
Excellent conversion and fabrication process!
1/72 is such a tiny scale. I'm impressed
plasmo is the person to make modifications to those 1:700 helicopters I have
Incredible job as usual, eager to see what’s next!
You are the MAN!!! Best scale modeler on youtube. I Would love to see you do a kit bash with the NASA 747 and the Space Shuttle on it's back.
Great project, and I love you are making the parts available in resin! Please! Do a fire engine! There is a large group of fire apparatus builders who would all be grateful, and it should open a ton of doors for your creative mind!

Modeling and video editing are both fantastic!
That's a lot of work but totally worth it! It looks great in the end!
A few videos ago I jokingly said that Plasmo is not far from recreating the entire injection mould to get better results. It looks like that moment is closer than I anticipated. :D
your skills are unmatched.
Your so lucky to have so many models and modelling skills!
Well damn! I now wonder why you even BUY a model kit! You have more talent and skill in your pinky then I have in my whole body🤣! You could just scratch build your own! This is pure awesomeness and a joy to watch! Thank you for sharing your skills with us all!
Awesome job the "by yourself" resin parts!!!
I always hit the like button before I watch the video, since I already know it will be great.
I find his voice so soothing
Amazing work! I had done this to a 1/72 Hasegawa F-117a and was extremely tough! Now I have a 1/72 Hasegawa F/A-18F in my stash with Wolfpack Design flaps down I’ve yet to build. Wish I had picked up the folded wings at the time and now hard to find.

Plasmo the Jedi master of modelling
Well done Plasmo, not just for a beautiful conversion, but also for a clear and easy-to-understand tutorial!! That said though, I think I've still got a way to go before I can follow it and get the same results...
In a word simply Awesome work well done sir, well done.
Increíble!!! Parece a 1/32. Bravo David!
David......you are THE model guru
Hi, t's nice work. You had taken so much works for sawing. But the finish is very nice ! Thank you.
I swear. Every time I make a model. He makes the same one. But 100x better
Fa 18s are my favorite jets, your videos are so good man
Very good to see your techniques. Keep them coming.
I never saw so many CMK saws in one video! Great done! ;)
Frakk yeah, Plasmo has finally gotten into DIY resin parts. Man, you've no idea for how long i've been waiting for you to do this. It's the next logical step, in model making. Can't wait to see what else you cook up, because now that the door has been opened, the sky is the limit.

Plasmo legit dropped his first hottest (conversion) kit just like that
Now you are just showing off. Great work.
It is nothing. It is only a practice model for more funny ones. I have for F-14 much larger plans.
You are simply amazing and God Level Modeling....
Plasmo model in 1 72 scale are pure magic
Wow! Your work is just amazing!

@@joeshmoe9978 thanks!
Sure you will. Maybe start with something bigger in scale with some easy camo patterns. For me it was easier to practice on a larger "canvas".
Plasmo, your work is amazing can’t wait for your next video😁
Simply amazing 👍
Impressive work David
Amazing work as always! WOW!!
Increíble trabajo!
