Add a dollop of Coleman's mustard into the cheese sauce, it just adds to the flavour of a truly English lasagne.

I used to make Lasagne a lot but haven’t made it for ages cos it’s only me. I’m going to start making it again cos I do love lasagne. I always make mine very much like yours and your bechamel sauce is exactly like mine too. I used to make sauces with cornflour till I began cooking for the nuns and also in an aged care facility. I learned to do things a lot different.

Suggestion to all viewers on the question as to whether or not this is true Lasagne. Look up the definition and read about its origins. It said there are two common styles of Lasagne. One is Italian. The other referred to as American is prepared exactly the way Chef Rik made it. We all need to have a more open mind when it comes to food nowadays. There are so many fusions in many dishes from almost every country. When in doubt, we can always Google the definition and obtain more information. Have a pleasant day everyone. 😊❤

Thank you! Well done, good reply! I've given up on the purists that haven't a clue what is available in other countries, they all like the sound of their own voice. It's the world we live in. That's me being honest as ever. Thank you. Best, Rik

Lasagna, often associated with Italy, actually originated in ancient Greece. The name "lasagna" is derived from the Greek word "lasagna," which refers to a flat sheet of pasta dough cut into strips. The concept of lasagna then made its way to Italy, where it evolved into its current form by adding traditional Italian ingredients like tomatoes, meats, and cheeses. The modern version of lasagna that we're familiar with, layered with these ingredients and baked, was developed in Italy. However, look at the title again: BRITISH LASAGNA - nothing to do with Italy.
