I changed my race at my corporate employer 5-6 years ago. It doesn't help me personally, but it diversifies our workforce, which makes it easier for young white men to get jobs and promotions. I checked with both our HR dept and the EEOC to make sure there would be no opposition. It turns out it's legally my decision and the company cannot challenge my self-identification. I have persuaded 15-20 of my co-workers to follow my example. FYI, my wife & kids are black. Being black & middle or upper middle class is a powerful combination.

Another factor in all of this is that many ministries and churches seem as though they don't like white people. They only ever speak negatively about white people, as a group. As a college student, I attended a college fellowship where race was a mojor part of the ministry. This ministry special sub ministries for Asian, Latino, and black students. Students were affirmed for being black, Asian, or Hispanic, but every mention of whites as a group was negative. Coupled to this, was a major emphasis liberal politics. This fellowship had minority subgroups, but whites were meant to attend the mixed, large group, and were a minority there. When I was in the group, we just assumed that whites didn't come because they were partying pagans, and not interested in spiritual things. In retrospect, I think that many whites, especially more conservative ones, just didn't want to be spoken down to all the time. As a college student, I felt rejected because I was white, male, and conservative. I attended this ministry to find refuge from that in God and fellowship. Instead I found more race politics. Any church and fellowship should be more interested in calling lost souls to Jesus, rather than racial politics.
Although I certainly didn’t expect Jeremy to to have all the answers as to what tangible actions we people on the right should do about the issues raised in his book, it was a little frustrating that he didn’t seem to really have any ideas along those lines.
