Yeah keep telling yourself that lol. I like Shelley but you're just using that typical crybaby excuse to cover up the fact that she wasn't getting along with her castmates and didn't have the film career she thought she did. Stop being pathetic.
Agreed. I thought it was horrible Diane wasn’t included in the final scene where the gang was sitting around smoking cigars. Hopefully we fans will finally get to see that reboot with Sam and Diane all old and grey dancing to piano music like how they imagined it when Diane left the bar the first time.
Not according to her but it seems everyone one else had that take on it when she first left. I saw one where she said it was just a personal decision so decided to look. It seems the other actors and directors and producers Hinted she was a PITA
I like Shelley but I'm glad she made the decision she did because if Diane hadn't left the show would've died because the Sam and Diane show was getting old. Kirstie Alley's addition saved the show and the focus on Ted Danson and the rest of the ensemble cast made the show even better then it had been before. Don't even argue with me about this, the show reaching number 1 by season 8 proves it lol.
one of the great cautionary tales. don't look a gift horse in the mouth or get too big for your britches....pick your cliche......bad bad career move by Long. she forgot that a working actress is a working actress.
But then again one can argue that if Shelley didn't leave, Cheers probably wouldn't have lasted 11 seasons. I'm a huge fan of the Diane years more than Rebecca (better writing/ character development imo) but I have to admit the Sam/ Diane storyline would have begun to wear its course and take the primary focus away from the bar and the audience.
j v, She did just fine. If you know the entertainment world, you know that lightning seldom strikes once - let alone twice - no matter how talented you are. Not a single performer from “Cheers” went on to enjoy that level of success in another production again. It takes a lot of factors coming together and a lot of luck to create a show as successful as “Cheers,” and in the days of the monolithic big three networks there were rarely more than two or three sitcoms that were really wildly popular at any given time.
Les Moore, no, I’m not. Some people, such as .Miss Long, are more interested in their craft and the work they do. Popularity and celebrity are not their sole criteria of success. Whatever the case, Shelley Long has worked steadily and profitably every year of her life since “Cheers.” From what I’ve seen of her comments, she left and never looked back without regret. Experiencing lightning striking twice is just that, not a particular mark of either capability or talent.
@@inkyguy While I think Shelley Long did fine after Cheers and made a decision that was good for her and the show... Ted Danson, Kelsey Grammar, and especially Woody Harrelson went on to have A LOT of success after Cheers. Woody Harrelson was just nominated for an Oscar.
He's not actually gray on the final episode. It's probably because he's always enhanced his look with a toupee or hairpiece. He's had thinning hair for years.
The Cheers cast said her character and real life persona were basically the same, which they hated. This show was basically the "Dianne Chambers Show" which flopped, not surprisingly. She thought Cheers was holding her back when actually is was the only thing holding her up, this was proven when Cheers remained successful and you never heard from her again. I don't know her personally, but I'm sure she's kindhearted.
I love Shelley Long
Shelly Long was only called "difficult" because she was a woman who had ideas and opinions and didn't just shut up and do as she was told.
EXACTLY
Obviously her ideas and opinions stunk, hence her flopped career after Cheers which went on successfully, as well as all the actors
Yeah keep telling yourself that lol. I like Shelley but you're just using that typical crybaby excuse to cover up the fact that she wasn't getting along with her castmates and didn't have the film career she thought she did. Stop being pathetic.
@@missmakebyjoanna Yeah, just go ahead and cheerlead for that crappola lol.
We're you there to see what was going on? Male or female, you're allowed to be difficult. Not sure how well it will be tolerated.
The finale was bad. Should’ve been Diane and Sam going back into a dark hallway bickering and ending it with a kiss.

Rhea Perlman was so pivotal to Cheers. Shelly Longs looks really good in this.
Ahh 1993... Everything about this video SCREAMS early 90's, hehe. Good times :)
Long looked like she was playing Diane in that other series, everyone else around her character looked like they were just making up the numbers.
RIP Treat 🙏
She is gorgeous.
Yes and so is Kirstie and Bebe and in a not so obvious way so is Rhea.
@@kendallrivers1119Not even close to Shelley
I would like to see a show between Shelly and Kirstie.
Same here
Basically would be the odd couple with women because they're night and day lol.
Not I. Kirstie Alley is too harsh and rude and has too unpleasant a personality to watch that often.
When my husband and I got married, we loved cheers. Brings back so many memories
Nobody: ....
Danny DeVito: I WAS IN A SITCOM!!!
I was 15 when this aired. Life is so weird.
I would have left too if I had to take all that abuse from Carla...
People were stronger back then.
Good Advice? Don't remember that one. Apparently didn't last long. She seemed to have a reputation for being difficult.

and where is Shelley Long today?
Excellent comedy.

R.I.P Kirstie
damn I didnt know danson was gray at the end of cheers

Classic viewing.
I can't wait to see the final episode.

Ted’s hair is white
Thanks for pointing out the obvious.
Now she’s a recluse.
She's 72 years old now. What do you expect?
Rhea Perlman should've stuck to Cheers.
??? She was with the show until the very end. What are you talking about?
