Thank you! It worked for me perfectly ... and this is after asking my dad (he's an amazing handyman and DIYer) who basically told me "forget it, it's not possible, you should just get new skates."
what about the other straps? Last night I seen a pair of inline skates in which all of its strap closures are broken. I didn't buy them but thinking of going back to Goodwill to pick them up now that I know of these DIY videos. Where do I buy new buckle straps? This Goodwill bargain room charges only $1.69/pound for everything in the bins, I really should go back to buy them
Okay, this method works for the top strap. I did it last night. But what about the two straps below? All my straps broke. I can't get to them with the drill because of the angle.
You are actually supposed to drill the rivet head out, not the button. If you want to do it properly that is. I been drilling out rivets for years n years trust me.
Yup! The whole time I was watching this I was like, okay, this is a job for the local skate shop... which is probably for the better since it probably won't be the first time in years they're drilling into a boot...
@@simintan8868 - I'd never replaced a buckle before, and it was easier than I thought it would be! The only thing I had to get was drill bits that are for metal, because regular drill bits for wood won't work. Then drilling out the rivets is a snap! If I can do it, anyone can.
Try one that's a lot smaller than the hole in the rivet for your first drill. It'll go through quickly and easily. Then put in a bit that's about the same size as the rivet hole. The thinner hole you just drilled will guide the second bit and make that larger cut easier. Buy a set of bits, so you can choose the size you want.
if you get a buckle replacement it will usually come with the bolt and nut. there’s usually reddit discussions about what is compatible for your skate or call up the brand for advice :)

That is a dads way of saying not today I'm sleepy haha
Oh i see just drilling out the ring. i was trying to drill out through the middle which was impossible. Thnx!
I was legit panicking because my buckle snapped. This worked well, thank you!!
That is simpler than I feared. Thank you.
Great guide! A great guide! This method helped me with my rollerblade rb cruiser and finally replaced my old buckle!
I just did that on my old Rollerblades. It worked great!

Any method without the buckle replacement? Some DIY. Because I can't find it in my market anywhere
Look online - eBay, Amazon, online skate shops, etc.
