There was a mistake in the tabs at 4:35; the second chord should be the st fret G string and 2nd fret B string. Great thanks to all PATRONS for your continued support, your TABS for this video is availabe at : bit.ly/376BN2t Love and peace, GP
Guitar Pilgrim I literally learned this song like hours b4 this video was uploaded 😂 I think it's sounds really cool on my 1970 eko rio bravo because the bass strings have quite a woody sound, hence why I call the eko woody
Kinda sad since my grandmother just passed yesterday. The funeral is this Friday, and I might possibly be playing a song for it. It’s a Catholic funeral, so they usually are pretty strict about what songs they let you play. They usually have to be songs with a religious message to it. If it gets approved, I will be playing this song. One of the reasons why I’m playing this song is because yesterday, on the day of her death, I spontaneously started to hear Tears in Heaven in my head in the early afternoon. This reminded me of my grandmother, since I knew that she was down to her final few days. When I got home from school, I found out that she had passed. When I asked about when she had passed, it turns out it was almost exactly around the time that I had my sudden realization about her. It just seemed so surreal. I’m not the most religious person, but this just seemed like it was meant to be. This was meant to be played at her funeral. To see this video pop up in my feed only reinforces that idea. Great video, keep up the good work, and remember that even though people in your life come and go, they are always with you in some way.
I almost just passed by this video until I noticed something was up with your finger. Heal up, this is a great video for the base chords and rhythm. Helped me remember how I used to play it. Cheers!
My grandpa passed away this week and as he was a musician all his life, I am re-learning this song to play and sing at his memorial. Thanks so much for the easy lesson!
Dang, sorry to hear about your finger man. Hope it gets better and recover indeed! Also this song quite means a lot to me and my Dad for it's emotion! Cheers for this man!
Wonderful❤ What a beautiful instrument played with great skill, teaching this old duck new tricks. Thank you 😊 A Clapton classic, melancholy, sweet and sorrowful.
Greetings from Alabama. I love your videos. This song is especially touching. Such a tragedy that Mr. Clapton had to endure. Hope your finger recovers soon and keep up the good work.
Great lesson Thom. I've always wanted to learn it but it always foxed me. You explain it so well that it looks considerably less daunting than I thought so I might finally get to learn it :-D
You are awesome I don’t have words to thank you for the contribution you’re doing to the music and guitar world to all the people around the world I really appreciate from the bottom of my heart thank you so much could you please put a lesson on ready to roar by willie nelson guitar lesson
Great video! I’ve been following you for quite some time now and I started playing (electric) guitar mid august 2019. This was the first song I learned to play myself completely by tabs. I’m planning on buying an acoustic guitar very soon! Greetings from the Netherlands!
Hi Gilbert! Awesome that you're going to buy a new guitar soon, I would recommend that you try out Taylor guitars or Martin (bit more expensive) they both make excellent guitars!
I really don't know how , but there is charms in your lessons , i mean i found this song hard to play last week ( i was learning it with other youtube teachers ) , when i learned it from u , i was able to play the intro in less than 5 minutes , man you deserve way more subs, all the love❤❤❤
Thanks! Someday I'm gonna get me a Spanish Guitar ;) Love this song, thanks for taking the time. Small typo in tabs 2nd part VERSE, 1--23 should be 1--13. We love Clapton.
So... I have a little issue with the crawl-down part at 4:44. The first two chords look right (F# Min, and C# Maj inversion) but the 3rd chord just calls for Em in your tab and there's definitely should be the skeleton of an Emin6 chord there in the recording. I play it open low E, Open G string, and 2nd fret on the B string (0,0,2) to get the 6th in there, then for the fourth chord is a simple F# Dom 7. You can play it like an E7 barred on the 2nd fret and still get that lovely 6th to 7th chord resolution... then the 5th chord is Bmin7 (So your tab is basically correct here) and the lovely final chord is correct also with that pretty Dsus2 chord with E in the bass. Lovely.
Great lesson. Just a little edit the basic rhythm you exaplain in steps 123 is different from what you actually play from time 1:50. Its a great lesson!
Another great video, Thom. Instead of using my thumb on the E string for the chords in the beginning, I find it more comfortable to use my second finger. Is there any advantage to using the thumb, or is it just your preference?
Using the thumb allows for more improvising possibilities with the other fingers. Also, when you move for example your index finger part of your middle finger moves as well, this because these muscles are connected, your thumb moves independently from the other fingers allowing for a more independent feel and movement of the bass part on the guitar
Great lesson & I hope that your finger heals up fine! Only wish that I could play guitar half as good as you. After giving it my best shot over the past 5 years, I know that I can never reach that caliber of playing. Hell, I can't even play through basic chords fast enough to even play an easy song! So now I really just try playing for the fun of it since I made my Acoustic guitar myself............ 👍👍
Hi Steve, just keep playing brother, in the final analysis it al comes down to having fun with the instrument and being sincere in whatever you play, put your own personality into it! One of my favorite players is John Lee hooker, he's playing really was quite messy, all over the place, but his feel and personality were unmatched and that's more important!
I know this isn’t a beginner song however I’ve been playing for over a year and I find this tutorial to be extremely difficult, I might be alone in that idk
By the way, I hope your finger heals quickly. There's nothing worse than a cut finger for a guitarist. I trapped the index finger of my right hand in a car door once and had to have three stitches in it which left me with a very unusual fingerprint. Fortunately, it healed OK and only stopped me from playing the guitar for a couple of weeks. I'm intrigued by your guitar. The top looks like spruce and the back and sides look like maple or sycamore which would give it a brighter more percussive tone more suited to Flamenco than classical guitar. Do you play Flamenco? I live in the home of Flamenco (Andalusia) but have never tried to learn it. Bit of a shame really but as I've always loved the Blues, Rock, Folk and Country, taking on Flamenco as well has always seemed like a bridge too far!
Hi Joe, you live in Andalusia? That's awesome! I have the same thing when I hear someone like Paco de lucia... that seems like a bridge too far for me!! Love flamenco music though!! greetings from Ireland
So I have never got around the strumming pattern could you please explain it for a simpleton beginner? How am I supposed to actually play? And how do I strum and play at the same time? Thx
