Not have been hidden but are hidden. It was not a deliberate act! We all have hidden histories. Imagine that you have 4 great grand parents then 8 great great grandparents then 16 then 32-64-128-256-512-1026 etc. So just ten generations back you would have thousands of ancestors you would know nothing about.
I understand her emotional response to the drumming: music reaches us on visceral level and that sound is solidifying the newly discovered musical connection to her ancestor. Very moving
She's so lovely. Such a smart, thoughtful and insightful woman. I've always loved her. Steven Tyler is lucky to have such a beautiful daughter as she is. She is beautiful inside and out.
My great-grandfather was also in the Civil War. He ran away to Boston from what is now the Bronx to enlist. I am so happy you had the chance to learn about your ancestor.
Epigenetic response. Especially traumatic events are encoded on DNA as permanent modifications. It’s believed that these modifications can actually influence responses to certain stimuli…this could be the basis for ancestral memories. These permanent DNA modifications are heritable and are passed from generation to generation.
I hope she finds what she is looking for. Beautiful soul. So much respect for her trying to find out her own ancestors. Most young people don't care anymore. Bless her and her lovely family.
With having ancestors that fought on both sides of the Civil War, it can be emotional to learn who they were and that they were actual people and not just stories. Through Ancestry I was able to learn that my 4th great-grandfather died as a POW in a Union prison near Indianapolis, Fort Morton.
The drums, bugle, fife, and piccolo along with signal flags were ways to communicate with each other on the battlefield and were a huge part of a soldier’s daily life in these times. Before radios that was the predominant way to communicate especially during the noise and confusion of battles.
Infantry commands were communicated by drums, cavalry commands by bugles. The legend is that each branch could sleep through commands intended for the other.
Buglers were not only used with Calvary. They were used in all branches of the Army. Brigade commanders could relay commands to battalion and company commanders in order to move troops in the field.
I would like for you to find an African American Genealogy Group in your area. They might be able to help you. I found my step-great grand father's family being divided up to the children of the plantation's owner. Also, there are great RUclips videos that you could take a look at. Let me know what you find.
If more people would realize that we as Americans have more that joins us than divides us this country would be an amazing place to live. To how excited her and her dad were to find out that they actual have blk ancestors that were also musicians you could tell they understood were their love for music comes from....Its just amazing
So far I found 45 Confederate soldiers and 26 Union soldiers in my family. It has been interesting and very humbling reading about their Civil War experience.
Let's hear this same exact sensationalized version from a celebrity on the opposing side of this conflict. Just for fun. Let's leave all politics out of it.
You won't be able to get that because folks can't leave the politics out of it. The only Southern celebrity I can think of without a problem is Trace Adkins. He has a lifetime membership to the Sons of Confederate Veterans. And before you make false statements about the SCV, how about going on the official site and see what they are about. I enjoyed these segments on the Tylers. I like Steven Tyler but now I like him more. But the real hero is Liv. She stepped into the world of genealogy. She will never be the same and will be better for it. You go girl!!!
Well professor, I'm sure you noticed the music wasn't being recorded in a properly sound padded recording studio. Lot's of sound bouncing off the floor, wall and ceiling. Nor was the boom mic appropriate for recording music. In fact, when he walked into the room the drummer was outside of the pickup pattern of the mic. So OF COURSE it would sound like crap!!! Try using your brain for once, Mozart!!!!
@@helifanodobezanozi7689 your sarcasm aside - thank you for mentioning the difficulties with how this was recorded - I thought it sounded “tinny” because of the material the drum was made from - but it’s more likely because of poor recording quality 🇨🇦🙏
Her voice is very calming and soothing. I could listen to it forever..
Liv seems like such a good person!
I cried when she cried. It is emotional to find parts of your own identity have been hidden from you.

The more I see this woman, the more I love her. She's a special, insightful, creative mind that's inspired me a couple times for sure.

Oh my! Why am I in tears? I feel her heart.
Liv is So Classy and magical. What a story. Music was always in Steven's Soul. God bless them.
My great-grandfather was also in the Civil War. He ran away to Boston from what is now the Bronx to enlist. I am so happy you had the chance to learn about your ancestor.
Amazing! Her ancestors were with mine in battle!
The drumming was so crisp and clear. Well done.
Um why did I cry with the playing of the drums 😢😢😢😢
I cried too❤

Me too…
Same!
Such an awesome journey for her to find out about her ancestor, she's a sensitive soul too, that was powerful!!!!
I hope she finds what she is looking for. Beautiful soul. So much respect for her trying to find out her own ancestors. Most young people don't care anymore. Bless her and her lovely family.
The real question is how Liv has hardly aged since the 1990s.
She has aged, but she looks so much better now.
She takes care of herself
Strong genes. LOL. Look at the resemblance of Steve and George
Nah, she really looks her age and even older. Now if she was Filipina, that'd be a different story.
She is an elf. They mature but do not age.
What a sweet heart...💖💖
unforgettable as Arwen.
I loved her dad reaction 😊
0:20 My great-great grandfathers fought in the Civil War and would have heard that drumming, so when I heard it, I wept with Liv...
Some ladies are just adorable forever.

her openness is lovely. it has contributed much to her appeal as an actor. and her voice is so calm, so calming
Ms. Tyler sure has a lot of family history to investigate. Wow! Excellent posting.
wow, liv sounds like a caring person and sincere

So. The drummer and bugler were probably huge targets. Bc without them communication is limited, I would think.
Buglers were not only used with Calvary. They were used in all branches of the Army. Brigade commanders could relay commands to battalion and company commanders in order to move troops in the field.
OMG! Made me cry too.
She has such a gentle voice.
Had Liv been there in battle, she could've summoned all the Elves.
"There is still hope"
It's amazing to see her person get to know and love someone they'll never meet but is a part of them forever❤
I've always loved her. Liv is lovely.
Liv seems sweeter than ever!
Her watching the drummer come out painted a picture of what her 3rd great grandfather endured during slavery; I felt her emotions🤔.
These stories are really interesting
Liv is so lovely
Frederick Maryland has a Civil War Medical museum that is just wonderful.
What a great ancestor story!
What a powerful story thanks for sharing. This knowledge is a learning for all human beings 🙏
The drummer guy can tell people .. "I made Arwen Undómiel cry"
Such a silky smooth voice.
I LOVE her, she's adorable.
She is so sweet
Because of slavery , jim crow i cant even go find who my grandfather was yet some ppl can finf their 4th removed grandfather.

I think you guys need to have a Steven Tyler show like The Kardashians
She has a very sweet voice. Sounds like a nice young lady.
An Army Drummer!!
Wow she she's a very sweet woman
Makes sense.
Clara Barton American Red Cross was my Great (x ?) Aunt.
..they may have met.
Back then 25 year olds were very much more capable than now
Yes, my friend. Men are weak, afraid, and incapable. Low to no testatrone.
You're right. Life was nothing like it is now, however. I imagine that most young men and women were way tougher because life was tough..

The Smithsonian gave her special treatment because she's a celebrity. They would never give me this kind of treatment. So, this is not realistic.

A lot of banging if you want to call that music. Let’s be honest I’m sure it was to interrogate and disrupt their sleep an imposition of sort
