Such a pretty lady and gentle soul. I really enjoyed her in Lord of the Rings. How proud she must be to have discovered an ancestor who fought at Gettysburg. I've been there 10 times since 1970. It is sacred ground for any American. So much sacrifice that determined the direction our nation would take.

I’ve watched the movie “Gettysburg” a few times. The scene depicting Chamberlain’s bayonet charge downhill at the confederates at Little Round Top made me weep. I am awe of the courage of those men and his leadership. It is because of their courage that we are still a union, we are still the United States of America. Anyone who would dare propose another civil war should be forced to visit every battlefield and cemetery to clearly understand the carnage that was brought forth because of that war. I concur with JohnVilla. It is incredibly narrow-minded to say no other place in the world “comes close” the Gettysburg’s historical significance. There is a world outside of the US - a world whose history shaped the birth of the US and continues to shape it even today. There were hundreds and probably thousands of events that have equal or more historical significance than Gettysburg; indeed, without those prior events, the US would not exist.

@@CSAFD You should be proud! My G-G-Grandfather served in Co. K, 5th Texas Infantry (Bloody Fifth). However, he was from Georgia.
