    Awesome! OCD level organisation - just like I love :D This is a very good list, not trying to shed every gram - giving up on items and regretting it later, I salute you! :) Definitely going to check my list against yours later before my hike to make sure I have all I need.

    Dear Lisa,
    I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to reach out and let you know how much I enjoy watching your videos and following along with your adventures. Your passion for the outdoors is truly inspiring, and I love the positive message you share with your audience.
    I am reaching out because I would love to interview you on my RUclips channel, Jorditoms. As a fellow hiker and outdoor enthusiast, I am preparing to tackle the GR11 this summer, and I think our shared love for the mountains and the outdoors would make for a great conversation.
    I am currently doing a series of live interviews with people like yourself who have a positive message and a passion for adventure. I think my audience in Spain would be thrilled to get to know you and learn more about your experiences.
    Please let me know if this is something that would interest you. I would love to discuss the possibility of scheduling an interview and sharing your story with my audience.
    Thank you for your time and for the inspiration you provide to others.
    Best regards,

    I love the videos. I hope to follow your example of great videos when I do my own thru hike in a few years. Please make a step by step video on how you make the videos while on trail. What program or app do you use to make the thumbnails and splice the video and sound together? Is the program or app that you use for an Android or Apple phone? Thanks, Darryl

    • @lisaphikes
      @lisaphikes  Год назад

      I will try to get a video out about that soon. I used an iPhone and edited video with the Luma Fusion app, but iMovie would work fine also. I used the Adobe Spark app to create the thumbnails, which has since been renamed to Adobe Express.

    I had watched your cold camping video and thought a mummy bag is nicer in cold weather, saw you got a WM bag, expensive, but top of the line. An experiment to try on a cold night at home, take an empty bread bag, take off shoe and sock, put empty bread bag over bare foot, then sock and shoe. Go stand outside with winter coat and see which foot feels warmer. Years ago I backpacked a portion of the AT in snow wearing sneakers that stayed wet all day. Ok while I hiked, but when I stoped to set tent and cook supper I got cold. Got into sleeping bag cold. Finally I took an unused garbage bag, cut hole for head and arms, took off long Johns, placed garbage bag over bare skin with head and arms thru holes I had made. Placed long Johns back on, slept like a baby, very warm. In the morning I easily crawled out of sleeping bag, NOT feeling the usual cold jolt in morning. Ate breakfast, took tent down and repacked, as I hiked on, had to remove garbage bag, was over heating. A double wall tent with no screen or screens covered adds warmth in winter. I have a Big Agnes Slater 1.5 person tent that is warmer in winter because the screen door has a zippered nylon cover and a smaller screen at foot of tent. I can feel the difference when I go outside the tent. I may try to cover the foot screen in winter. 4 season tents typically have zippered covers over the screens and usually a pole structure that handles snow and wind better. I wonder if a bivy sack beats out a 3 season tent in winter.

      If you mean how much lighter it was not carrying a stove, it evens out. Those with a stove carry lighter, dehydrated food, whereas my food is comparatively heavier. If you mean me as a person, I didn’t have any extra weight to lose. I actually gained a few pounds. 😆

      Too Tall, thanks for asking that question. I'm not man hating when I say a man - whether he needs to lose weight or not - loses 10 pounds as soon as he says, "Hiking," but women don't seem to lose much weight - even if the need to - on the trail. (Unless, of course, they're trying to do the trail in under 100 days. Then they seem to get skeletal.)

    Why didn't you mention those sock liners? They were your ticket to ride. Who made your liners? Also I've read you can buy an anti-wind muffler for your microphone for about 12 dollars.

    • @lisaphikes
      @lisaphikes  2 года назад

      The sock liners did the trick while I healed. I prefer to not use liners if I don’t have to though. But they were nylon ankle socks from Amazon (link below).
      Yeah, I didn’t bring my lavalier mic to the canyon. Hope the wind wasn’t totally awful to listen through.

    Why get the zip version if your using a pack liner? You can't use the zip function that way.
    You said your stuff got wet, I'm curious how easy it was for the pack to wet out?

    • @lisaphikes
      @lisaphikes  2 года назад

      Understood. I originally bought the zip version hoping that I wouldn’t have to use a liner. I was soon proven wrong on that front. If you pack properly, that zipper isn’t needed though. I do still enjoy the outer zippered compartment though.
      It rains so much on the AT that it wouldn’t take too long for stuff to get damp. You want to avoid that at all costs, so I quickly added the liner in my shake down hikes.

    I'm really glad I found this video. We both organize and pack much the same, even carrying many similar pieces of gear. I've had the advantage of using and upgrading gear over 12 years of section hiking, but there's always something to learn. Thanks!

    A comprehensive gear list. You also gave some great insights into how things really work on trail. I have an orange Zip as well and enjoy the ease of access. I use individual dry bags for extra water protection but we don't get the heavy. sustained rains in my area.

    those topo's gave me a ton of foot pain on the tendons on the tops of my feet. but when i went back into the store to try and return them, a different employee than the guy who fitted me who had been there as long as the store had been open helped me and i learned i was sold shoes 2 sizes too large! went with something different to minimize the chance of the pain happening again. still nervous to give the shoes a second chance even though i loved everything about them. especially the color. my timp 3's are hideous

    Hi from New Hampshire. The foliage was great this year,(probably due to all the rain we got.) Awesome gear review. I use the Chicken Tramper bottle holder on my pack I've had no problems and happy with them. I bought both sizes😊.I couldn't make up my mind on which one.Anyway good quality. How are your feet doing? At the end of your hike there were issues. Hope all is good.🌲👍
