What a lovely comment section. It might be one of the things that’s keeping my faith in humanity flickering. 😂 MGO has created such a lovely community and that’s a huge gift all year long. Merry Christmas and the best New Year!!!
I'm very proud to be a 2024 new member of this community. I love the warmth and the little bit of craziness of that video in particular, a lot of lonely people struggle with the holiday season, I'm one of them but you put a smile on my face once again 😘 Love from France
I absolutely love Miranda's self confidence thinking a 12 ft tree is only 'a little bit taller' than her. She's the positive role model all young women deserve 10/10
So glad I'm not the only one who doesn't exactly love Christmas. It brings up sad family memories, so celebrating with friends seems like the best thing to do. Rainer and Abby are wonderful. Rainer is a cutie too. 😊
What a fun video!! Loved the backpacking gear ornaments as well as all the ones special to you all 😊 yay cozy vibes! Here's to making fresh holiday memories 🥂🎄 So happy to be a part of the MGO community
Hurray for new traditions and fond memories!! Yeah we hung some pretty ridiculous stuff on the tree before we pulled it back and decided that the only backpacking gear we would allow would be a) shiny things, b) Rainer’s cup, and c) my Kula. It was a full on discussion among Christmas Professionals. Yay cozy vibes!!
You living in a town called "Leavenworth", when my military brain associates it with the prison, really makes the sentence "My mom got this ornament for me when she came to visit me in Leavenworth" make my brain do a quick double take before I remember.
for not liking christmas very much, boy did you put me in the christmas spirit miranda! it's not about doing it the way everyone thinks you should, but the way that is most fulfilling to you. also, my mom is allergic to trees so i have never experienced cutting down a real tree and taking it home, which has always sounded so magical to me, so THANK YOU for sharing your experience ❤️🌟🎄
Absolutely joyous and beautiful. There was a scary part though when you carried your tree back to the car and strapped it on backwards. As luck would have it, it appears that none of the beautiful branches snagged off. Very Merry Christmas to you all!
Happy Holidays to your whole team. The tree is beautiful. I love Christmas, but the older I get, it does come with more EMOTIONS. Since moving to WA, we've started celebrating yule/solstice as well. We eat preserved foods, light candles, celebrate the return of the light, etc. It brings us lots of joy. Highly recommend. Thank you all!
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 Thank you for bringing the Christmas Spirit! I've been sick since right after Thanksgiving and this really made me happy. Merry Christmas and happy new year! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 🎄
When I was a teen, a long long time ago, i worked two summers for the Youth Conservation Corp. One of our jobs was Timber Stand Improvement, TSI ;). TSI is thinning out the forest by taking the smaller trees out to give the trees left behind a greater chance to grow.
Merry Christmas, Miranda, Rainer, and Abby, and Tucker & Oscar!!!! Miranda, I am so glad that you have Rainer and Abby there to help you get to know and love the Christmas Spirit! May it ever grow and blossom with you all! Thank you all, for all you do to bring Joy to our lives. You all are wonderful! May God bless and keep you all, and keep you safe and happy! Merry Christmas!!! With much love, Russ
You’re a joy, Miranda! Found your channel at the end of this year and I found your videos to be so inspirational, educational, and entertaining! My little boys also like watching some of your backpacking trips and it has them interested too! Your tree was beautiful, loved the ornaments and my boys liked seeing your animals. Merry Christmas to you all!
Miranda Goes Outside is ALWAYS special 😊 But I'm totally here for a Christmas special too. Omg. That intro was soooo damn wholesome! 😭 all of you in pyjamas ❤ Timber profile. Nailed it, Abby! 😂 sadly no one started singing "Oh Symmetry" after you mentioned symmeTREE 🎄 Happy holidays, everyone ❤ can't wait to cheer on all you accomplish in 2025 💚
Merry Christmas to the five of you too! I like your Christmas special, it looks like you had a lot of fun. Living in the Pacific Northwest I grew up going out and getting a Christmas tree and decorating a less than perfect tree. To me, that's Christmas. Thank you for explaining why and how it is OK to go cut down a tree. Growing up just sort of knowing this, I forget not everyone knows or understands about going out into the woods and getting a tree. Your vids are always so fun.
Merry Christmas Miranda, Rainer, and Abby! Its been a joy watching your videos this year. I love seeing Rainer in the vids and the crossovers with Eric Hanson. I hope you have some wonderful time off! Also, do you like your daypack? Coincidentally i have been thinking about purchasing it but an not sure I'd be into the way it closes.
I'm like you, in houston, never been a fan of real trees, but this video makes me want to celebrate more and with friends. Have the happiest of holidays. Thanks
What a wonderful, holiday-inspired video!! Thank You Miranda, Rainer and Abby!! You all have such warm, fun personalities that fill my heart with happiness. Your Miranda Goes Outside videos have been so good for me as I started backpacking and hiking this year!! Marry Christmas!!❤❤❤
I have always loved all of your videos of you and Rainer and your other friends Miranda, but I have to say. This one I loved even more for so many reasons. The fact that you went outside of your comfort zone and got to pick out the most beautiful tree with your friends and it gave you a very obvious happy, cozy Christmas feeling was just wonderful to see. 😊❤️🎄. Merry Christmas to you and Abby and Rainer and Tucker and your whole crew ! Thank you for being you. 😊❤️. P.S. some of my happiest memories are of my dad and my little sister and I walking our property every year and cutting it down and dragging it home. Thanks for reminding f me of that. ❤️
1. Thank you Miranda for explaining why it is a good thing to be cutting down the trees within the national forest. It is healthy for the forrest to have the smaller trees to help forrest fire prevention. You're helping prevent forrest fires and getting a tree out of it. Win/win. 2. Can we talk about how awesome Gingerbread Faculty in Levenworth is? The cookies are amazing.
Thanks for the vid - I understand the holidays can be difficult for many folks but I hope you can enjoy them particularly in Leavenworth and with your tree. Cheers.
The analogies, the acronyms, the combined memories, the achievements...damn I know I sound like a movie reviewer but I did cry, laugh, etc. Thank you Miranda and crew.
Merry Christmas to all of you. My wife and I love seeing your videos. All of you do a great job. We used to go out and cut a Christmas tree in the national forest. This video brought back a lot of great memories. That is a Grand Fir tree. They do make great Christmas Trees. Thank you for a great year of videos. I am looking forward to 2025 videos!
happiest of holidays miranda rainer abbey and furry friends! thank you for another fun year of adventures. have the greatest break and see you next year!! *nervous burp
This is so what holidays are about - traditions with those you care about and decorating the tree is so full of memories in each ornament. Have a lovely rest and can’t wait to see what is to come in 2025.
Omg what a great day! You should definitely make it a tradition plus love the PJ. Thanks for sharing this - it made my day. Hope you enjoy your holiday. Can’t wait to see you in February ❤
Charlie Brown Tree or No Tree! :) I'm not into the holiday's much either and find it a tough time of year. My wife and daughter love it by comparison and are just finishing a 15 day trip through Europe, coming home Christmas day. I'll spend the day with close friends which will be wonderful for sure. I HATE gifts, giving and getting them......happy holidays everyone!
So far the best christmas video on RUclips I have seen. Love that you can thin the forest for $5 and enjoy the perfect tree. I am from New England and have never heard of this!! Great year Miranda and team. ❤😊🎄
I have fond family memories of doing this as a kid! I was telling my husband the other day about our trips into the mountains to pick out a tree with our permit.
Yep. For many years I would go get the tree permit (got a permit in an area that had noble firs) Then up to the snowy mountain we'd go to find the perfect tree. Then we and the dogs would have a picnic in the snow and hot chocolate. A true PNW Christmas tradition. Thank you for sharing your new Christmas tradition.🥰
After Christmas can you use your tree as fire wood? I understand how you feel about cutting down a tree because I wouldn't be able to, even knowing it's technically "good" I did enjoy the video, and I know your house is going to smell wonderful for weeks. The matching pajamas were so cute! lol Merry Christmas. P.S. I love seeing Oscar and Tucker. 🎄
Just want to shout out Abby! She kept the kids on track, provided good feedback and kept them safe-ish. "Don't run with saws, kids!" lol. Merry Christmas everybody!
My wife and I have been exchanging ornaments every Christmas since before we were married. One of ours is the light-repair gnome (21:27). We have colored lights, and the light-repair gnome is always working on a white light, trying to fix its color.
I love this video so much! It would be fun if you make a tree hunt video every year. If you aren't into Christmas, you picked the wrong town to live in. LOL I haven't made it up there for a few years, but it's sooo amazing there at Christmas, chaos and all. 😂 Hope you all have an amazing holiday! ❤
One thing I’m not sure you mentioned (but have in other videos) is having navigation system with you. I could totally see myself wandering around looking for a tree and then suddenly I don’t know where the trail is. 😅

It was such a blast!! It actually made me look forward to Christmas, which my family and friends can tell you is NOT normal for me. I love new traditions.
We took our three year old out to chop our own tree in the national forest for the first time this year. Our permit in CA was $10, but well worth the adventure!
I'm proud of the two trips with you as well! Also I'm relieved that no high profile accidents or regrettable choices were made (well, mostly).
I really enjoyed those trips you guys had together! Would love to see one in BC in the future! Wishing you all happy holidays! 🎄☃
Watching you and Miranda together, and trips with other RUclipsrs (Dan, Justin, Tayson, etc.), were highlights of the year. In the end the perfect tree is always the one that has the most Profound Appeal to Your Heart (PAYH)
I want to roll my eyes at you so badly, but thanks for being the Cindy Lou Who to my Grinch.
@RainerGolden Miranda needs a bridge ornament for the tree!
Everyone loves a Christmas special
When you take it down, you should cut a piece of the base and write the year on it, drill a hole and make it into a Christmas ornament.
Or make that piece a candle holder (use a wood auger to drill the hole wide enough for a candle).
I like how this video had a lot of Rainer in it. Both of your goofy personalities compliment to each other.
😁 I couldn’t agree more.
Merry Christmas gosh darn ! Love your show !
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!! Thanks for being here 😊
What a lovely comment section. It might be one of the things that’s keeping my faith in humanity flickering. 😂 MGO has created such a lovely community and that’s a huge gift all year long. Merry Christmas and the best New Year!!!
Consecutive Miranda Goes Outside!! videos without a burp: 0
Definitely thought about you when we reset that counter. No way we were going for FIVE
😂 You are truly a man who believes in miracles. Merry Christmas!

Wow $5 for a permit? Seems like a lot of work but so much cheaper than getting it from a farm or store. Plus such a unique experience!
It’s so worth it! It was really fun, and we made (as you saw) a whole day of it.
And it helps thin some of the smaller trees and makes the forest healthier
You living in a town called "Leavenworth", when my military brain associates it with the prison, really makes the sentence "My mom got this ornament for me when she came to visit me in Leavenworth" make my brain do a quick double take before I remember.
HAHAHA oh my gosh, I didn’t even think about that but that’s hilarious.
You guys really rocked the dad flannel. Well done. Can't wait for another year of snark, good cheer, and great editing.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Awwwwwww we love you guys too!!!! Can't wait to see your adventures ❤
Even though you guys secured the tree on top of your rig backwards, it still survived the trip home in good condition. 🌲👍
Fun outing!
happiest of holidays miranda rainer abbey and furry friends! thank you for another fun year of adventures. have the greatest break and see you next year!! *nervous burp
This just makes my whole holiday! Thank you for posting something so lovely

What a fun video! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄
That looks like the best way to pick out a Christmas tree. Go to a national forest of course. Fun video for the holidays. Cheers!
🎄🎄🥰🥂Merry Christmas Miranda and Rainer - love you guys! ❤️ (From hot and humid GoldCoast Australia)
Merry Christmas🎄❄️

I struggle to feel the Christmas/holiday cheer or spirit too. Looking at sparkling lights has helped. Enjoy the beautiful tree!!
Leavenworth in Christmas is beautiful! Merry Christmas🎄
Merry Christmas you all are the best!❤
I have fond family memories of doing this as a kid! I was telling my husband the other day about our trips into the mountains to pick out a tree with our permit.
Merry Christmas Miranda!!!
I love the backpacking gear ornaments and hat tree topper. Happy Holidays to you and the crew!
Gorgeous work my friend! Area looks and feels beautiful! Love your atmospheric and warm content
Thank you so much 😊 It was a gorgeous day to get outside!
Yep. For many years I would go get the tree permit (got a permit in an area that had noble firs)

Love this! We cut down our first national forest tree (with a permit) this year too. Has so much fun!
Phenomenal video and merry Christmas! 🎄☺️
Merry Christmas guys!
Merry Christmas Miranda. Hope the cat stays out of the tree for you! See you next year.
This is such a fun video! Merry Christmas y’all! ❤
Merry Christmas, you goofballs! ;) :D Thanks for all the great videos this year, looking forward to next year. (Oh, and Oscar is soooo cute!)
After Christmas can you use your tree as fire wood? I understand how you feel about cutting down a tree because I wouldn't be able to, even knowing it's technically "good" I did enjoy the video, and I know your house is going to smell wonderful for weeks. Happy Christmas to the team!
Merry Christmas you guys. See you in the new year.
Merry Christmas y'all 🌲
Just want to shout out Abby! She kept the kids on track, provided good feedback and kept them safe-ish. "Don't run with saws, kids!" lol. Merry Christmas everybody!
The PJs then the look you got from Oliver were icing on the gingerbread cookies!❤
Oh my gosh YES! We did have one moment where we wandered too far and had to re-orient ourselves!
This video is so much fun. Thank you.
i love warmed wine! Merry Christmas to the whole MGO crew!
woodcutting permits are also fun, they're cheap, you're not required to take anything, and you can pick only the wood you want.
Want a table? Pretty log downed over the service road? Take a chunk and clear the road while getting awesome wood!
Contrary to popular belief a kiln is not needed to season wood, it helps speed up the sap crystallization process and add some effects of aging, but many at home crafters who don't have a lot of space or equipment simply just take the wood after it's slabbed (you can make small slabs, it's to expose the interior and help the wood sections all "cure" at the same rate to help avoid warping (which still might happen if you've cut them) but since you're a small operation it's pretty easy to find things to put on them while they're "green" to hold them flat while they "age" in your closet. Just open the door every now and then to refresh the air, maybe put a big humidity pack or dehumidifier in there to keep it at the right humidity for the type of wood you got (there are lots of online places that are basically wood characteristic and handling databases).
You don't have to take all the wood at once and they give you several tags usually, here it's like 12 cords per 18 USD permit, and this is the plan when I get a little bandsaw mill rig and start with small pieces, working up to bigger stuff it if ends up supporting itself.
Yay, Miranda and friends! I haven’t cut my own tree in ages, what a fun experience.
It was such a blast!! It actually made me look forward to Christmas, which my family and friends can tell you is NOT normal for me. I love new traditions.
This video makes me miss my old home up north. I’m in NM now, and I never thought I’d miss shoveling myself out of my house and driveway lol
You could make a garland for your tree that when the season is over you hang outside for the birds. Could be berries seeds slices of dried fruit
I have my hot chocolate, gingerbread man cookies and some puppies snuggled on the couch watching this video! This is Christmas vibes gosh darn!
Yay!!! That is exactly the right vibe for this!!
We took our three year old out to chop our own tree in the national forest for the first time this year. Our permit in CA was $10, but well worth the adventure!
Merry Christmas!
