  • When it comes to exploring new cities, Sofia, Bulgaria, is one of the most exciting places to visit. As a first-time visitor to this vibrant city, I was eager to discover what it had to offer.
I arrived in Sofia and was immediately taken aback by the beauty of the city. The architecture was stunning, with impressive monuments and buildings dotting the skyline. I strolled along the cobbled streets, taking in the sights and sounds of the city.
The culture in Sofia was vibrant and welcoming. Everywhere I went, people were friendly and eager to chat. I took the time to ask locals about the city’s history, which I found to be quite fascinating.
The food in Sofia was also amazing. I sampled a variety of dishes, from the traditional Bulgarian cuisine to some more modern interpretations. I enjoyed trying something new and found that the local cuisine had a lot to offer.
One of the best things about Sofia was how easy it was to get around. I was able to take public transport to and from my various destinations, which made exploring the city even more enjoyable.
My trip to Sofia was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve ever had. I was able to explore the city and experience its unique culture. I was also able to visit nearby Varna, which was another amazing experience.
If you’re looking for an exciting new destination to explore, Sofia, Bulgaria should definitely be at the top of your list. You’ll be amazed by the city’s stunning architecture, vibrant culture, and delicious food. It’s a destination that will leave you with unforgettable memories.
So, if you’re curious about what it’s like to visit Sofia, Bulgaria, I highly recommend you make the trip. You won’t regret it!

Great video Gareth! You did walk A LOT! I lived in Sofia for three months last winter, and am in the USA working on getting my D visa to come back and live full-time. Glad you finally made it to our city! Two things, one- all of the transit stations are different. Some are very modern having been built more recently. Also, you can use a tap credit card to get on all of the transit all over Sofia, including buses and trams, so you don't have to buy a separate card. Two, I wish you had gone to NDK - the building and the park are really the center of Sofia in my experience. There are always people walking there and enjoying the day, no matter the weather or time of year. Next time, see the Eagle's bridge too! And do walk around Borrisova Gradina park during nicer weather, it is quite beautiful. Gosh and one more thing, Sofia University. Such a beautiful building!

Really good video, Bulgaria is an interesting country that is not well covered by vloggers, you do a very good job and deserve more views. . I will be retiring next year and you have made me seriously consider moving to Bulgaria, although the language barrier is a bit scary.

The gold was restorated around 20 years ago. It was more oxidized before that, but still looked similar. The cathedral hasn't been restored in any way since then.

1:01 Gareth, when I plan on visiting I'll be taking the overnight Train from Sofia to Varna Bulgaria 🇧🇬 so this video episode has given me great confidence. Many thanks.
My own research found that an upgrade can be made on the Sleeper Train 🚉 to get a better Bed 🛌 and individual room.
Hopefully see you in Varna sometime in 2023 👍

Just a small clarification, The stadium "Vasil Levski" similarly to the FC "Levski" bare the name of the national hero, however the stadium you showed is a national stadium and not the FC`s. They have a different stadium called "Georgi Asparuhov" or nicknamed Gerena. Thought it should be mentioned so some fans don`t get offended.

10:53 is a view to behold. Rest pf the comments there. Wish you had given it 2 more seconds and brought it to the center of the frame. Brain needs min 3-4 seconds to cognize and appreciate the beauty about something.
15:58 is a breathtaking view, I can sense it from your tone, and from my experience, the camera failed to capture it. The clear blue sky and the vastness. It is only after rains that we see blue sky in Delhi, and space this vast, not really. You can not see the horizon in Delhi. Ah, you added the picture. That's lovely, and the clicking sound too. Very slily zoomed out will give a better view, because youtube scroll bar hides it when paused.
golden dome @16:36 is beautiful angle and framing, just the tilt is not to my taste. @16:50 would have become a montage if the top was not missing.

The metro in Sofia has absolutely nothing to do with the metro in Budapest, which is very old. Not updated. Pleae! Timea better the metro in in London, which I would not call modern by aby stretch and it is ultra expensive and crowded. Soviet union metro is more modern! 4 leva for all forms of transportation in any city is nothing! You really saw nothing of Sofia

  • @martiniliev4918

We the people of Sofia hate this monument of Sofia, it's not the saint Sofia. It's more like a monument of Lilith, the black eyes, the owl it a satanic statue.

@@ATasteofBulgaria ruse to varna is a bit more regional I think it didn't go over about 35/40 mph the whole journey. Trains were straight out of the soviet Union. Damn site more comfortable than British trains tho. The ticket inspector let us smoke out the window. Ive definitely had worse journeys and I would do it anytime to get to varna. Beautiful city! Amazing people just a strange place to walk round as a British couple in the middle of winter. Might aswell have had British stamped across our foreheads. We were there 4 nights before we went on to Istanbul. Didn't hear anyone speaking English!

      @RositsaPetrovarjp7 Год назад

@@williamsulman2646sure and Bulgarian ls speak Russian. Bulgaria was never a part of the Soviet Union. These trains are gery old but they are Czech and German. And still run on time, mostly, unlike British trains
