Watched your video but I took everything you suggested and applied it to a live edge wood and the 3X Poly makes the bark look foggy and fake/plastic looking even after 1 coat.
I am going to do this to an outdoor bar slab. How will this combination hold up under the weather? I don't get a lot of rain but if it does get wet will this be enough?
It will not hold up well to rain. They're all indoor finishes. You want some kind of epoxy. Rain isnt always the most important thing when considering an outdoor slab. UV damage would be the main concern. Cheaper products can turn your wood yellowish within months. I personally would look for an outdoor tabletop epoxy. Most videos don't show how to preserve the bark, but you basically brush the epoxy in. This will work way better for an outdoor situation. Use a disposable brush, epoxy is basically glue. All of this can be gotten from your local home/Lowe's whatever store. They're fairly common products. To protect the board from warping I'd recommend using a cheap finish on the bottom, it won't be seen.
Very helpful. It's hard to find a video where they don't already assume you have a lot of knowledge.
Thanks for this, easy to understand for a beginner like myself!
Thanks for the tips! Finishing a bar top and needed some advice on what products to use to seal it. That finished tv stand looks really nice!
Sick whip pan in the basement damn, shout out to the camera girl lol

Does the bark hold well of the wood?
So far so good. It's been about a year now. I definitely would put some finish or epoxy on it.
@@Sydsworkshop Thanks a lot 🙏🏼
It looks great . Which kind of wood did you use.
The slab in this video is red oak.
Can you list the products here that you used? I can’t really hear the names. Thanks!!!
Varathanes triple thick polyurethane on the bark, minwax wipe on poly for the bottom, and the top was general finish's arm r seal
@@Sydsworkshopthanks for listing those awesome work
What kinda wood is that u using
That specific slab is oak. I prefer working with maple, it's cheaper and has way more character.
Can you provide the poly you used for this finish please?
It is actually two comments down, someone else had the same question! If you have any other questions, ask away! Cheers
BEST. DESCRIPTIONS. EVER! Thanks☺
Beautiful project.
