That was amazing. I'm always a little leery of drum solos. They often become interminable wanks where the drummer seems to insist on showing every rhythmic and dynamic trick they know, essentially every sound their kit can make. As often as not the musicality is lost, to my ear anyway. Not here, though. And there's a few other notable exceptions. Akane's short solo in "Freedom" stands up because she continues to play the song throughout. There's a fabulous feature by Simon Philips in Hiromi's live performance of "Move" that's over 2 minutes long that doesn't overstay for the same reason. He plays the song without letting it get away from him. ruclips.net/video/1rxYw7Y45Eo/видео.html Starts around the 7 minute mark in case you're not a jazz fan and can't be bothered. She's great, though, a very energetic and emotional player. Recommended.
Wagakki Band did different and really cool drum battle/duo last year, I will just leave the suggestion here to pique your curiosity. The full video title is: "Wagakki Band / Drums & Wadaiko Battle ~Gachiuchi~" (ドラム和太鼓バトル 月打〜GACHIUCHI〜)/ Dai Shinnenkai 2022"
粉骨砕身=making one's best exertionsons 2:46 Everyone! I'm going to put my whole heart and soul into WAGAKKI BAND again this year, so please follow me! Let's go!
Drum battle between Kurona and Wasabi is a popular feature at the concerts. They say that it is not a competition, but Beni reveals in one interview they count points. "Wasabi past" has translated the talk to Wasabi in the beginning. The talk in the middle; have a suspicion that they are making fun of each other. And Kurona yells at the audience because they are not doing a proper job and have to pull themselves together. Kurona joined a professional drum ensemble when he was 9 years old. Wasabi is a bodybuilder with his own YT channel where he posts things like drum cover, cooking, training and other things.
Now that was very entertaining and of course amazing drumming. We sometimes tend to forget that there's a lot of percussion in the traditional japanese culture, there's a strong tradition and maybe that's one of the reason why there's so many great drummers there.
LOL - GMG I don't think I've ever seen your attention more rapt or you eyes light up as much as when you realized that drum solo had actually become Rhythm Game! Nice Reaction - I'm always up for the Waggaki Band.
Normally I would suggest the CC W channel over Frank Garcia for Wagakki Band since CC W subtitles everything and the videos there are always in HD, but the drum battle hasn't been uploaded there yet. Kurona does another wadaiko solo a few songs earlier, though it's much shorter than this (just under three minutes). It's called "Kaisen Randa" and flows into the song "Ikusa," so if you'd like to do a reaction to the other solo, I'd suggest knocking them both out at once. Just be sure to use the CC W channel. "Ikusa" is a great song, so the reaction will be worth it. This is from the 2018 Daishinnenkai which as at the Yokohama Arena. They have a Daishinnenkai every year as that translates to "New Year's Party." The 2020 show was at the Yokohama Arena as well, though the crowd was restricted thanks to covid. 2016, 2021, and 2022 were all at Budokan, 2017 was at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, and 2019 was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA). What's odd is that _no one_ uploads from the 2019 show. I caught a glimpse of it in a compilation video, but that's about it. It's too bad as the stage design is great.
I don't know Japanese, but practically sure that they are not much different from any English speaking groups and say more or less the same what latter say to the audience
Wow! That was fn epic. I hadn't see that one before. I've really only seen a handful of Wagakki Band so far. I like them, but not a big fan of the singer. Man, them and Babymetal really know how to put on a dang show!

How about the drum battle between Buddy Rich and Animal from the Muppets?!
