FYI - Cillian is pronounced just like the Anglicized spelling of the name, 'Killian' ("Kill-ee-an").

the big 5 is picture, director, lead actor, lead actress, screenplay. Oppenheimer does not have lead actress nomination. movie that won most above the line categories is last year winner, everything everywhere all at once. it won picture, director, actress, supporting actor, supporting actress, and screenplay.

That's the funny thing about the "big 5". Most movies don't have performances that could qualify for nominations for leads in both Actor and Actress. Usually you'll have a single lead and supporting. To me it would make sense to count movies as getting nominated for the big five as long as they have a lead and supporting nomination alongside Picture, Director, and Screenplay. Maybe we could call that getting nominated for the "not as big 5." 🤣

You lost me at Fakefeather. Reasech more please ‘cause she’s been exposed as fraud. So you’re right, it was an embarrassing year at the Oscars, but not for noble reasons but because Hollywood was fooled.

While I think this is important context and I appreciate you bringing it up, I don't think it takes away from the underlying truth of the matter. She was being booed and attacked for the message, not because she was pretending to be Native American. Since researching, I can't find any information that anyone in the industry knew she could be lying about her heritage until after the event. The reports of her ancestry and her sister's interviews were published in 2022. While I agree this possibly puts a stain on the legacy of that act of protest, it doesn't change that the message was incredibly important and the reaction by the people in that room and the media after the fact, only proved the point they were trying to make. For decades real Native American people were being mistreated and misrepresented by the industry. That truth doesn't change if Sacheen Littlefeather wasn't actually Native American.

@@whatisus4411 The Academy is not the Social Justice Awards designed to correct and atone for ills of the past. It should be about meritocracy- but alas.
