    Thank you so much for making these videos Fleur. I was pregnant at the same time as you but sadly lost the baby in September 2017. I couldn't watch any of your baby videos for a long time. Then I fell pregnant again in January 2018 and finally I have a 3 week old baby girl. I've spent the past few months watching your videos and have found them very useful. We've bought loads of baby bits based on your views and recommendations. Some more high end and also lots of the little bits too. My baby girl was enjoying the black and white book again just yesterday. : ) Keep up the good work. xxx

    My mother has this theory that leakages and explosions have to do with the shape of each baby/families of babies, so she started with pampers...except for some reason they gaped on all of us, as did every other brand she tried, and all we could fit and not explode out of was Huggies :P So we were Huggies babies, because that's what didn't explode.

    I NEEDED this video SO MUCH.! I’m so overwhelmed with all the random newborn lists. I have no idea what else besides pampers and bottles we will need. 🤦🏼‍♀️💕

    • @marybuck5946
      @marybuck5946 6 лет назад +1

      Kate's Ordinary Life I have a 10 month old son & was EXACTLY the same. Overwhelmed. Now that we’re expecting our second, I can say that you don’t (REALLY) need much more than that. Plus sleepers & swaddles Or you’ll discover what you need as you go. You will be fine. Fun to plan & imagine though, isn’t it?!

    • @michellezevenaar
      @michellezevenaar 6 лет назад

      So true! We are sticking with the basics and figure that anything we need we can always buy later. For now we have the basic baby room, bed, chair, changing table. And as for stuff we have clothes, loads of wash clothes, loads of muslin swaddle blankets in different sizes, the things for making the bed, sheets.... A blackout curtain. Basic bottles we got for free, and a brush to clean them. Just in case breast feeding goes badly. Some diapers and free sample products for the changing table. A bath tub and thermometer and bath stuff. A lot of the stuff we got from friends so it was nice to not have to chose one. We do still need a car seat and that has been stressful because there are so many kinds and combinations and prices. For us what has made it a lot less stressful was using a project management tool called trello to organize all the list so we both have the same list and can make notes about things on the list like what type or were to buy. We have a to do list for things like hanging the curtains. A shopping list for things we still need and a list of things we already have. When friends ask if we still need anything we have the list ready to go.

    • @KateFranchuk
      @KateFranchuk 6 лет назад +3

      Girls, thank you so much for your support and tips. It REALLY helps. I think i need to relax and stop stressing over these things.You are absolutely right, we will see what we need as we go...I think all the "glam isntagram moms-to-be" who have it all super prepared and ready kinda made me feel miserable. Gotta stop following others and focus on "us" right now. phew xoxo

    fleur!!! could you maybe do a video on what to get a new mother to look after herself with after having a baby? my sister is expecting and everyone (me included lmao) is getting her gifts for the baby but i also really want to get her a basket of goodies for herself too. like oils and hand creams and other nice things to treat her for when the baby comes. just looking for ideas on what she might want or need the most. 💕

      As a new mum I'd say the best thing you can give her is your time! Sorry if that isn't quite what you are looking for but the friends who have come round with healthy and delicious lunch for me and then looked after baby while I had a nap/a shower are the best thing ever!

    Love watching these types of videos. Even though I have a 10 yr. old n a 7 month old. Find these very interesting. N one tip I can give u for the cradle cap is to put some baby oil on her head n leave it on for a little while before u bathe her. N while the oil is on her head use her baby comb to comb through it. U will c the pieces coming off. Did that with my son n it worked.

    You should try Ewan the dream sheep. We recently bought our son home who was born at 24 weeks pregnant. He was in the neonatal intensive care unit for 15 weeks so was used to the busy goings on. He was hard to settle if it was too quite when we bought him home. We tried the dream sheep and settled straight away. He also had colic so it distracted him from the pain x

    I started out using Pampers and our daughter got a huge rash from them. We thought it was a diaper rash, but we were changing her every 30 minutes and it didn't get better. We switched to the natural diapers from Honest Company and she's 6 months old and hasn't had a rash since. It's a bonus that they get delivered to our door😂

    Hi Fleur, I had my first baby 2.5 weeks ago, I was in labour for 2 days, it ended in an emergency C - section. Obviously I can't exercise for another 3.5 weeks, I was wondering if you had an exercise routine for post cesarean you could share? Before I was pregnant I was a size 8, obviously my body now is looking VERY different, and I'm worried the c-section has created a 'mummy tummy' that I won't ever be able to get rid of, any tips would be appreciated!

    I’m done having babies, but enjoyed seeing what things were your favs. I’m glad you clip her nails instead of biting them too. There are so many germs in/on the mouth & baby likes to put their fingers in their mouths. It’s not the end of the world if necessary but we instruct patients to clip if possible. A C-section baby will have more mucus than a vaginal birth because it’s not being squeezed thru the birth canal. I agree with Mike thou, lol, I would have to get a bulb syringe. Hugs to you three! Summer xo

    Nipple shields saved me. I couldn’t have breastfed without them for 3 months as I had an infected nipple :( also using bottles early on was a godsend too. I knew people who held off using them and their babies never took a bottle, whereas mine was happy to take them and even from me or when I was in the room too. I found after that 3 month mark breastfeeding became super easy and I was glad that I didn’t have to sterilise bottles all the time or spend money on formula

    Hey Fleur!
    When babies are born via c-section they don’t get that good squeeze! So they are often a bit more congested. It’s also why the abdominal incision they make looks way to small to fit a baby out of, they are trying to get a bit of that squeeze ☺️💜

    We will be using a mixture of Naty (mostly when we are out and about) and cloth nappies (at home). The amount of plastic nappies that pollute the environment is horrendous and I see no reason to add to it once my baby is here. Naty nappies are not only gentler on baby's skin but they're also 100% biodegradable. Not enough people care about the waste they create and though you only mentioned the other benefits of using Naty's nappies, I still find it refreshing to see someone on youtube using something other than pampers. Awesome.

    • @OhCaroline
      @OhCaroline 6 лет назад +3

      So glad you said this. Our impact on the environment should be the number 1 reason to change from cheaper nappies. If we keep on ruining the environment with all this plastic and non biodegradable rubbish there will be no planet for our children to live on!! 🌼

      Just keep in mind that diapers only biodegrade if you compost them or have a way of disposing of them so that they will be composted. If they are thrown in a trash can and/or wind up in a landfill, they likely will still sit around for many, many years like ordinary disposable diapers.

    Hi Fleur! Can you talk a bit about your process of trying to get pregnant? Was it easy? Was it more difficult than you thought? How long were you off birth control? Etc etc. my husband and I are trying now (I’m like 2 months into more seriously trying like tracking my ovulating etc) and it’s hard not to let it make me crazy. It’s hard not to get disappointed every month when I get my period and it’s hard to just let nature take its course. Love your videos and watching your family grow, and would love to hear any thoughts you have on your process and your experience of waiting for your time to have your child. Thank you.

      Marjorie Gidwitz we are two months into properly trying aswell. I kind thought I was last month and then I get my period. Was so disappointed. But just keep trying.

      Marjorie Gidwitz I know you didn’t ask me but it took me 4 YEARS to get pregnant this time around. First time was literally the next month. The main thing that helped me was eliminating stress and negative people in my life ! Stress is a killer ! Good luck hun 🌸💐

    Love Water wipes but just a word of warning keep them away from the sun or to much heat as they can go bad.

      I agree! I live in Germany and every drugstore has their own brand of diapers. They are cheaper, don't leak, don't smell so horrible and they also have cute animals on them 😍 i'll never Go Back.

    Australia is so behind in the way they do business and ship products. I live in Melbourne and I can generally buy from overseas and get it before I can get something locally (and they charge a fortune). Australia Post is a joke. I hope you get your order soon, Fleur. I don’t know why more companies don’t do the zips, they are so quick and convenient.

    The main thing that I’m nervous of with having a baby is, I have a springer spaniel and she’s 5 months at the moment. Obviously she’s my first born baby but I’m worried of how she will react to a baby as she is so energetic. I also don’t want her to feel left out. Anyone experienced this?

      Esme Ervine Hi, from my experience health visiting, if the dog and baby are introduced slowly and gradually, like giving the dog a blanket with the baby’s smell on, then you holding the baby where the dog can see but not reach, then closer and so on, it tends to go pretty smoothly. Dogs recognise young children are a bit more delicate. Just go slower and teach your dog not to jump up before the baby arrives if they’re a bit excitable :) hope this helps.

      Hello! I’m a vet, there’s a few things you can do to help
      1) you need to get the dog used to a new routine now. No sitting on the couch, make sure she is sleeping somewhere that you’re going to be ok with when a baby arrives.
      2) you will need to burn off that energy, so two or theee short walks a day will help- three 10 minutes walks will make her more tired than one 30 minute walk because they will get more mental stimulation out of it.
      3) food toys like the kong wobbler are essential. They will keep her busy for hours.
      4) you need to make sure that the dog understands she is the dog which is silly sounding, but trust me. Things like not being on the couch are essential here, and eating after everyone else in the house has eaten is important. This is even more important because when dogs hit about two years old they really try to figure out where they belong in the family and if they are the boss or not, when this hits your baby will be a year or so old and starting to walk around, so it’s important the dog realises the child is more important than there are, and this can prevent things like the dog growling at the child.
