The couple were met by the military head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida and his wife Maryam. They toured Lagos University Teaching Hospital where they were accompanied by the Minister of Health Dr. Olikoye Ransome Kuti. There was a banquet in Enugu, a Durbar in Maiduguri where they also visited the Molai Hospital for Leprosy and a visit to Port Harcourt where they viewed a War Canoe Regatta.
