Exactly they don’t make teen shows like this anymore Degrassi is so relatable it will always be my fav teen show and what makes it even better the actors are actual teenagers they don’t even cast teens for teen parts anymore
The reason why in those other shows they have perfect skin is because they're in their twenties. They got adults playing teens and kids. While Degrassi always had teens playing teens. Which added to the authenticity of the show and why it was engaging.
The show (the ORIGINAL degrassi Jr high). Was co created by a woman who was a JR high teacher she wanted it to be real the kids wore their own wardrobe and even helped create some of the stories. They almost all Played their real ages that’s what she wanted from the show she didn’t want any one person to REALLY be the main person and everyone got main stories through out
Honestly, Ashley needed therapy. She would say things without thinking, act all holier then though, and also broadcast other people’s business. She had a complex.
Terri (christina schmidt) confirmed that she was written out of the show. She was actually upset about that and it made her think that maybe she wasn't a good actress. She didn't decide to leave she was written out
Omg I want a compilation of all the "almost" couples in Degrassi. The ones who "dated" for a while, no matter how brief, but never made it to actually being in a relationship, like Sean and Ashley, Terry and Spinner, and Jimmy and Ellie (just to name a few)
She wasn’t wrong though, and I loved it when she told her she can do all the work on her own and calling her out for being unreasonable and greedy !! 💯💯
besides the point that ashley was the most hated character, the actress who played her did an amazing job of making the audience hate her character. Now that’s talent right there, you know they’re good at acting when you hate their character.
More compilation ideas: JT being precious Emma being a lousy friend Toby being breathing wallpaper Sean simping for Emma Manny (or Jimmy) being too good of a friend Darcy rolling her eyes Marco making questionable fashion choices Craig being a fuckboy Ellie getting involved in other peoples' business
i get that ashley was mad at manny and craig for cheating, but that doesn’t give her a right to expose manny’s pregnancy. also yeah craig cheated on ashley, but ashley was a total hypocrite for leaving him to go to london, and cheating on him with another guy without breaking up with him.
She also cheated on Jimmy with his worst enemy then told him he's nothing compared to Sean and proceeded to tell him he should've broke up with him on his bday lol
It’s shitty how Ashley was starting to see Alistar while she was with Craig, but Ashley was going to wait to break up with Craig until after his birthday.
Ashley definitely had her moments of being selfish and rude but I don't think the condoms thing was one of them it was an open discussion, but I find Emma more annoying rewatching as an adult she couldn't mind her business to save her life but I still think she was a very progressive character in alot of ways
At least Emma always tried to be a good person and her heart was always in the right place. Ashley is just the most unlikable human being on the planet.
That wasn't the point. The point was dragging Jimmy into that conversation when he clearly wasn't comfortable discussing it. Especially in front of her parents.
@@deviousj5868 I disagree I think she just wanted to know where he stood which is fine and if he wasnt comfortable he could have just said so it seemed like he could never speak his mind which is frustrating
I definitely get the hate behind Emma but I actually really liked her character. She always stood up for what she believed in. She was my favorite behind Manny
Ashley was pretty stuck up and harsh at times it maybe the whole time. I wanted to like her character, but they made her into such a trainwreck that it was pretty hard watching her on Degrassi 🤦🏽♂️ she could've been so great, but turned into a mess. Definitely needed to loosen up a bit. Wasted potential.
I like how Paige was supposed to be the insufferable spoiled stuck up girl...But nah it was Ashley. That was flipped flopped. And the minute she threw a drink on Paige she(Ashley) became the stuck up head up her ass character.
@@ddempslay3520 Yeah everytime she did something good it leads to the writers messing it up by the end of the season. Like her telling Jimmy that she wouldn't leave just because she didn't have sex with him was a good character moment but, it's ruined when she deleted his rap!
Ashley was super annoying sometimes; while she's definitely not my *least* favorite character in the series, she still has plenty of moments that make me roll my eyes. I will say, I didn't like how Paige blamed Ashley for Craig cheating...I mean I understand why Craig stopped liking Ashley but if you don't like someone anymore, just break up with them, you don't have to cheat lol. HOWEVER Ashley was still a huge b!tch a lot of the time, especially to Paige, Terri & Jimmy. I feel like she was really self-righteous and honestly kind of entitled.
terri was a good friend to her and looked out for her, but ashley was the complete opposite. she always brought her down and was toxic. she thought every thing was about her and tried to act mature when the whole time she was the opposite. When she was with jimmy she was mad ungrateful and treated him like garbage and thought he was too clingy, but as soon as she lost him she goes and crawls back, to then go and cheat on him again.
@@WhimsicalNessa Seriously! I still can't forget When she brought up Manny having an abortion in a petty fight. That should've been the end of the friendship. The way she would talk to Manny sometimes is unforgivable! Manny gave her too many chances.
Worst things ashley has done: take out jimmy's rap, announce craig and mannie had sex and that mannie was pregnant, judge paige when they were writing poor thing, cheat on craig.
i couldn’t stand when she tried to play doctor with craig after he was diagnosed with bipolar. yes it was well-intentioned but he expressed that it made him uncomfortable and she would still treat him with kid gloves anyway. and then right before leaving for london she basically told him his mental illness was a burden on her and that’s why she didn’t want him to come with her. i have bipolar and she reminds me of some of my friends who would pretty much try to be my therapist against my will
@@dpsoccer01Peter’s friendship with Riley was his only redeeming quality and how he was there for Emma & Darcy through their dark times. I still don’t like Peter for all he’s done
I think the stuff with her dad was understandable. I get why she's so upset. She was pretty understanding about it all in that scene until it's revealed that the guy was someone she already knew who had been casually introduced into her as friend. Like everything was going on right under her nose, and he loved someone else when she thought he loved her mom. Then, to her, it feels like her dad prioritized himself and this random guy over his daughter and wife. She feels betrayed and abandoned and is going through a lot of confusing emotions. Her dad was being pretty dismissive saying he wanted to wait until she was older so she could understand. Like, I get that it must have been tough for him, but he's a grown ass man, and she's a child. She has a right to feel upset. Terri was way too good of a friend to her, though. Ashley deserved to get dumped by Jimmy and there was no need for her to throw a drink at Paige.
In the particular moment where Ashley was ranting about her dad. Terri shouldn't have tried to gaslight her by bringing up her mom. It's a totally different situation if someone chooses to abandon you vs passing away. This and the rumor thing we're my only problems with Terri ever. I am not a fan of Emma but it wasn't her fault that Terri was eavesdropping on a private conversation she had with her best friend after seeing something unusual.
I loved Degrassi Next Generation. The one thing I noticed about the show. is none of the girls' characters really had much character development, if any. The guys, on the other hand. Examples J.T, Sean, Jimmy, Marco, Spinner, Craig, even Jay. Had a ton of arcs and character development.
I have wanted to tell my story meeting the actress playing ashley for so long LOL I sat across from her on the subway and slowly I began to realize who she was and as I was about to ask her (we made eye contact so she knew I was going to start talking) she looked at me dead in the eyes, put her finger over her mouth and went "shhh" LMAOOOO I was like ???
Ashley is one of the characters that I could not be friends with lol. A. She takes things way too seriously. B. She's not the only one that goes threw issues. C. She likes to hurt people because she's hurt. We all have something that happened to us. Grow from it, don't live in it.
i will forever be so confused at her breaking up with jimmy season 2 for ‘forcing’ her to be be preppy, when he literally said he loved both versions of her
She wasn’t annoying where she realized her dad brought around the guy he was with around the house when she was little. That’s a natural response when you think your parents marriage was going well
I go back and forth thinking the hate she gets is intentional by the writers or if we as fans just couldn't stand this character they kept trotting out to bother jimmy, Ellie and Craig. She changes so much throughout her time on the show yet consistently remains a selfish entitled person whose pain and drama is the only pain and drama that matters. I just find it strange she was never given a moment of redemption or humility to bring her back to being in the good graces of fans before she up and disappeared to London for the last time. Characters like hollyj or Paige or even Zoe were detestable at times but soon became characters ppl loved and it sucks Ashley just remains hated bc she didn't grow at all thru like anything lmao
Damn Ashley’s personality is trash. I felt so bad for Paige when she shoved that drink in her face. And her “how could you do this to me?” When her father came out to her. I know she was just a child. But damn.
If you ever made another one of these, do one on Zoe. That disgusting criminal literally sold naked pictures of underage girls online for months and even took non-consensual naked photos of other people so she could blackmail them. And the only punishment she ever gets is community service. I'm sorry, but NO. She committed several pre-meditated federal felonies and deserves LIFE in prison. Creepy old men who do the same get life in prison and so should Zoe because she is just as bad as they are. I know she got character development later, but after committing a crime of this magnitude, there is no reason she should ever be allowed back into public society.
I'm not even going to hold you Ashley kerwin was definitely the most self-centered self-absorbed the character in the entire show anytime something happens for somebody else her "what about me" "I'm so misunderstood"syndrome would come out.... But I will say season 1 when she was on drugs is the best Ashley and the most personality she has ever shown 😂😂😂
It’s funny. I was in 9th grade when Degrassi started (meaning they’re all nearly my age). Ashley was my favorite character back then and Paige annoyed tf out of me. Now, as a woman in my mid-30s, I feel the exact opposite! Paige is bitchy, but she is still likable. Ashely is just a selfish, drama queen, judgmental asshole.
Terri never deserved all of the toxic friends and then the abusive bf stacked on top in the end. Ashley only ever made things worse for her. In the end, I don't think anyone but her dad was ever truly there for Terri.
*ASHLEY’S EMAIL TO ELLIE ABOUT HER NEW BF* (Pause At 9:10) “Hey Ellie, Sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you. I’ve got huge news! I’m not coming back! I’ve decided to stay in England. My dad got me that internship at BBC Six. But that’s not the real reason I’m staying. Brace yourself El… the real reason I’m staying is that I’ve met thus totally great, totally cool guy Alistair AKA ‘Ali.’ We met at this HUGE outdoor music festival this summer. He’s funny, smart and really, really together. I’m so incredibly happy. The only problem is that I don’t know how I’m going to break it to Craig. He had such a terrible time last year, I hate the idea of making him unhappy. I will tell him… soon. I just have to get my nerve up. Arghh! How are you guys doing? How is the first week of school going? Write me with lots of details. I want to hear all about it. Miss you, Ashley”
Even when she’s not physically present onscreen, Ashley exhibits self-centered tendencies. Craig was literally terrified that Ashley would leave him for another guy when she went to England that he bought himself a plane ticket to England to be with her that summer. And lo and behold, she made his worst fears come true by dumping him… via email… on his 18th birthday… one of the most memorable birthdays a person will ever have. Ashley Kerwin is TRASH!!! 🗑

10 minutes is honestly too short
Lmfao 😭 so true
I was thinking the same thing Ashley was bitchy just about all the time
Nah. We don't need anymore from Ashley.
It's also too good for her.
😂😂😂😂
They really should have kicked Ashley off of the show and kept Terri on.
I thought the actress who portrayed Terri left to pursue a modeling career? She wasn't booted AFAIK.
Terri wasn't kicked off, she wanted to leave.
Terri (christina schmidt) confirmed that she was written out of the show. She was actually upset about that and it made her think that maybe she wasn't a good actress. She didn't decide to leave she was written out
@@Hurricanetongue I always felt that. She was such a great character.
@@Hurricanetongue Wow! I knew it! I knew they kicked her off! Not her deciding to leave herself! They could've done so much with her character!
Ashley was the absolute WORST. Hated her character
exactly and i especially hated her when she deleted jimmy's verse of the song and told the whole school that manny is pregnant
the only time i liked her character is when she was in her goth phase, which fit her character well, but the rest of the time was not a good character
@@JP-pp2tn nope. Still hated her
People always gave me shit for disliking Ashley. It's nice to be validated in these comments 😆
Yesss sir
Omg I want a compilation of all the "almost" couples in Degrassi. The ones who "dated" for a while, no matter how brief, but never made it to actually being in a relationship, like Sean and Ashley, Terry and Spinner, and Jimmy and Ellie (just to name a few)
Terry was such a good person and friend .
I felt so bad for Paige when Ashley threw that drink in her face; you could tell she was genuinely trying to help.
Turned out her brother was really Gay too she wasn’t lying
I'm surprised Paige never got smacked for calling everybody "hon."
this the most funny comment o here ngl
Probably because she’s “nice” compared to Heather Sinclair 💀!!!
Why would she
@@fatimekaba3205 Because calling people "hon" is rude, patronizing, and presumptuous.
@@Ælfgifu-1don't go to the south in the US then

The full scene of Ashley talking to her dad about his homosexuality is so well done
Suprised this video wasn't an hour long.
"A monkey could do you're job" 🤷🏾♀️ Liberty was hilarious 😂😭.
She wasn’t wrong though, and I loved it when she told her she can do all the work on her own and calling her out for being unreasonable and greedy !! 💯💯
@@tayladunn7490Okay but she ended up screwing up the announcements anyway.
besides the point that ashley was the most hated character, the actress who played her did an amazing job of making the audience hate her character. Now that’s talent right there, you know they’re good at acting when you hate their character.
Agreed
And she could honestly pull off every hairstyle 😂
Melissa McIntyre did a hell of a job playing Ashley must be related to Reba

Manny (or Jimmy) being too good of a friend

Marco making questionable fashion choices
Craig being a fuckboy
Ellie getting involved in other peoples' business

LMAO marcos fashion choices😭😭
I second Emma being a lousy friend! And marco’s fashion 🤣
Yo
"Toby being breathing wallpaper" just fucking KILLED me
Dang I love how Drake’s face hasn’t change much through the years
With how Ashley acts I’m still amazed she had friends
"Friends" is a strong word. They tolerated her.
i get that ashley was mad at manny and craig for cheating, but that doesn’t give her a right to expose manny’s pregnancy.
also yeah craig cheated on ashley, but ashley was a total hypocrite for leaving him to go to london, and cheating on him with another guy without breaking up with him.
That one pill changed her life
she was actually pretty decent before she took that pill lmao
@@hachij2558 You gotta think he's a teen. Teens alot of times don't vocalize these sort of things. He wasn't put on spot like that often.
Right??? It was weird that they made her so unlikable and gave her no redemption
I liked Terri she was so cute. What happened to her?
She was written off the show. They said after Rick put her in a coma she transferred schools
The actor left to focus on modeling
@@Peachsnowcone yeah
I wouldn't want my kid at that school if she got abused and no one did anything to help. I'm surprised Jimmy's parents let him stay.
@@chaosspy6723 yeah odd Rick was allowed back to the school
I absolutely could not stand Ashley’s character. She truly never had any true growth to her. She just used everyone 😒
Ashley was so manipulative omg !!!!
AND her wackass song.
🎵tEll mE wHyyYyY🎵
all off key.🤣
terri was a good friend to her and looked out for her, but ashley was the complete opposite. she always brought her down and was toxic. she thought every thing was about her and tried to act mature when the whole time she was the opposite. When she was with jimmy she was mad ungrateful and treated him like garbage and thought he was too clingy, but as soon as she lost him she goes and crawls back, to then go and cheat on him again.
Seeing Aubrey grow throughout the seasons is amazing.
I’m so happy degrassi is getting the recognition it deserves
Ashley was so stuck up. I never liked her
Please make one about Emma being a terrible friend/person
notice how there isn’t one
Realistically, her and Manny would not have stayed friends up until college.
@@WhimsicalNessa I had a friend like Manny and stopped talking to her in 10th grade lol
@@WhimsicalNessa Seriously! I still can't forget When she brought up Manny having an abortion in a petty fight. That should've been the end of the friendship. The way she would talk to Manny sometimes is unforgivable! Manny gave her too many chances.

wow i never realized how weird and impulsive ashley is
“Jimmy what do you think”
Uhhh I’m just hungry can you leave me out of it so I can eat 😂😂😂
Worst things ashley has done: take out jimmy's rap, announce craig and mannie had sex and that mannie was pregnant, judge paige when they were writing poor thing, cheat on craig.
the height differnce between ashley and toby lmaoo
the ogs and the season 9-11 characters are my favorite. i’m currently rewatching, can’t wait until I get to Bianca and them

Right
On behalf of all Ashley's we don't claim her
I WAS WAIIIITING FOR THE JIMMY ONE LMAO
Why did no one run tf up 👊💥 on Ashley after she outed Manny's pregnancy? Sis should have gotten DRAGGED for that!!
No, for real! If this was any other show, hands would’ve been thrown!
Cause it's not a modern show if it was modern then that 100% would have happened
But I mean she was the other woman… she didn’t owe anything to her and she was mad ofc since manny didn’t even apologize to her
stfu manny shouldnt have been sneaky

I couldnt stand Ashley…..especially the way she treated Terri and Jimmy smfh….😒😒😒😒
For reals
Ashley always went out of her way to be miserable. She loved living in the darkness of her circumstances.
Literally the most annoying character ever I was glad to see her GO
i couldn’t stand when she tried to play doctor with craig after he was diagnosed with bipolar. yes it was well-intentioned but he expressed that it made him uncomfortable and she would still treat him with kid gloves anyway. and then right before leaving for london she basically told him his mental illness was a burden on her and that’s why she didn’t want him to come with her. i have bipolar and she reminds me of some of my friends who would pretty much try to be my therapist against my will
Paige may of been out of line, but she was right on the nose... she's got great gay-dar.
I feel like she honestly meant well in that scene.
I love the way they call the The Net. Memoriessss.
Ugh Peter is pretty bad. He had some redeeming moments with Emma and Darcy but that didn’t outweigh everything else he’s done
i agree but he was also so supportive of riley when riley was struggling with his identity and anger issues
@@dpsoccer01Peter’s friendship with Riley was his only redeeming quality and how he was there for Emma & Darcy through their dark times. I still don’t like Peter for all he’s done
@@azzz7279couldnt agree more
I think the stuff with her dad was understandable.
Tell me lies is embedded in my brain for eternity
already love the title
This girl had the worst character arch. Nothing about her was likeable. I cheered when Paige gave her that whole, " the problem is you" speech.
I always thought Terri was much prettier than Paige or Ashley.
All were pretty but Terri and Hazel were stunning
@@noelle2k3 still are
Ashley was for sure my absolute least favorite Degrassi character until Imogen and Esme.
I have wanted to tell my story meeting the actress playing ashley for so long LOL I sat across from her on the subway and slowly I began to realize who she was and as I was about to ask her (we made eye contact so she knew I was going to start talking) she looked at me dead in the eyes, put her finger over her mouth and went "shhh" LMAOOOO I was like ???
good fucking bye
Lowkey at 3:18, that was messed. Ashley definitely wasn't tripping. If I were a kid, I'd react/feel the same way :/
Ash was horrible but I can't say she didn't make the show more interesting
She didn’t make anything interesting tho💀
Ashley is one of the characters that I could not be friends with lol. A. She takes things way too seriously. B. She's not the only one that goes threw issues. C. She likes to hurt people because she's hurt. We all have something that happened to us. Grow from it, don't live in it.
I love Terri she deserved so much more
i will forever be so confused at her breaking up with jimmy season 2 for ‘forcing’ her to be be preppy, when he literally said he loved both versions of her
I'll never understand why Jimmy and Craig kept taking her back, especially Jimmy. She was insufferable.
terri was always right when it came to giving ashley advice and ashley never listened to her lol
Agreed
I really like the Ashley and Liberty interaction lol
Ashley reminded me of Spike. Both of them were always in a bad mood and nothing ever made them happy.
But spike was empathetic and kind and she was not an ass like this
Toby's voice as a little boy is so cute lol
But I will say season 1 when she was on drugs is the best Ashley and the most personality she has ever shown 😂😂😂
Forgot how annoying she was
Yes, Ashley had her moments, but she was more tolerable than Emma, Darcy and Becky.
Please do more of these with all the characters.I need my nostalgia.
everytime she came on screen I rolled my eyes because of her personality
I hate how she had the audacity to stay hating on manny but was so in love with Craig
Wow, even her breakup email to Craig made it on here, and that was just a photo cameo.😂
Terri never deserved all of the toxic friends and then the abusive bf stacked on top in the end. Ashley only ever made things worse for her. In the end, I don't think anyone but her dad was ever truly there for Terri.
Spinner treated Terri kindly and fairly
100%!!!!
My top 3 worst..
1) Ashley
2) Peter
2.5) Darcy (for dating him after the pervert incident)
3) Liberty

Brace yourself El… the real reason I’m staying is that I’ve met thus totally great, totally cool guy Alistair AKA ‘Ali.’
We met at this HUGE outdoor music festival this summer.
Miss you,

Damn ok you a real one
Even when she’s not physically present onscreen, Ashley exhibits self-centered tendencies.
Craig was literally terrified that Ashley would leave him for another guy when she went to England that he bought himself a plane ticket to England to be with her that summer.
And lo and behold, she made his worst fears come true by dumping him… via email… on his 18th birthday… one of the most memorable birthdays a person will ever have.
