You have watched him operate as the head man for a year. Certainly, you had some expectations and goals you set to judge his performance by. This is business 101 stuff. How did he perform against the goals that were set? I'm not even talking about wins/losses. There had to be a set of internal goals for him to meet in his first year. I am with Hoyer, Maye and others who advocate giving the current coaching staff another year. The team hasn't really taken off, but the roster has been regularly ranked at or near the bottom of the league, including by analytics-heavy organizations - so you shouldn't be shocked if you're not even getting mediocre performance - it's not even a mediocre roster! Shooting from the hip and firing people quickly is the easy answer but I don't think it's likely to take you anywhere, and players need some consistency and stability in leadership and direction. At least keep Mayo and AVP... maybe think about exchanging Elliot Wolf or DeMarcus Covington - *IF* there's someone available that you have good reason to believe is better and that you'd be able to hire them. Tom Curren - "It's been a major disservice. They really should be a little bit ashamed of themselves. They've allowed Jerod to stand out there week after week, day after day, press conference after press conference and take all the slings and arrows with nobody articulating any kind of a vision. Yes, Jerod's a smart guy. Yes, he can articulate his particular positions."
    They need to teach a guy who's been around football his whole life, worked in media, won an Emmy, and worked in business how to speak to the media? He's the head coach. How does HE not have a vision for this team? How come every time someone asks him a question he can't articulate his positions and normally gets himself in even more trouble. It's amazing that everything you said was wrong.
    Just move on, please. Great guy but he wasn't ready.

      Don't make us boo and call for his job for 17 games next year. We just want a good team. We haven't had a good team in 5-6 years, haven't had a good offense in 7-8 years, and now our defense is bottoming out.

    • @jayy88
      @jayy88 2 дня назад

      @@heathhersom6579that’s because of the GM. Teams don’t win and lose because of coaches. Look at Bill Belichick last year or the Eagles this year. I don’t see Nick Siriani running for 2,000 yards

      @heathhersom6579 2 дня назад

      @jayy88 Even if you were right (you're not) and coaching didn't matter. I still want Jerod gone. I like coaches that I would want to play for. Mayo has no fire or passion. He's boring. Mike Vrabel at least acts like he gives a shit.

    • @jayy88
      @jayy88 2 дня назад

      @ Vrabel also sucked once the talent went away. Does Andy Reid seem like he has fire? So you want Nick Siriani who fights with fans 😂 I guess but I guarantee if he was here instead of Philadelphia with all that talent you’d say he looks like a moron for fighting with fans and players.

    • @heathhersom6579
      @heathhersom6579 2 дня назад

      @jayy88 There's a level of nuance you're missing. I would want to play for competent coaches that have fire. You said coaching didn't matter so I was strictly talking about their emotion. If you want to talk about competence and fire than the guys I would want to play for are Vrabel, Shanahan, McVay, Harbaughs.

    I strongly disagree with Brian’s argument that Jerod would have done better with 2019’s roster. There are players like Tavai, Dugger, Wise, etc. who have played much better in the past than they have this year. Not only have most young players not taken steps forward, there are several veteran players who have taken steps backward! Jerod simply was not ready for this, this is Kraft’s fault and he needs to fix this by conducting a real search for a new HC. You don’t want to listen to us “stupid fans” fine, but we know what winning football looks like and this is the polar opposite. If they run it back with Mayo and scapegoat the OC, I’m afraid we are heading toward extremely dark times next season, when this anger turns into apathy.

    Kraft will not fire Mayo. If we have another terrible season, Mayo might be in jeopardy. But even if we "improve" to a "better losing record" than our curr ent 3 and 13 , say 7 and 10 in 2025, the narrative will be that we're improving and still rebuilding.

    It's pathetic that the only reason Hoyer thinks Mayo should stay is because he thinks that nobody will come here to coach because the Krafts fire a mediocre coach. The question should be what good or great player will want to come play for a mediocre HC. The Jets stayed with Gase 2 years, that set them back, Saleh 4 years, that will set them back and Todd Bowles 4 years, that also set them back. The point is that sticking to long with mediocrity instead of getting rid of it will set you back

    What other organization has this super chummy "family loyalty" dynamic between ownership and the head coach? That and almost every media member seems really hesitant to call out the totality of poor coaching with Mayo. Mayo may be a decent leader, but his depth of inexperience looks to be beyond what can be gained by "learning on that job." Yeah, it's not fair that he had a crap roster, but the performance this year goes beyond just bad talent. It actually might the BEST thing for Mayo to go bounce around the league as a true D-Coordinator for a few years to get some other perspectives AND to network with others around to better set himself up for the next gig if his true aspirations are to be a legit head coach in the NFL.

    Love hoyer but strongly strongly disagree about giving mayo another shot. What tf has he shown to give you confidence that he knows what he's even doing, or that this is getting better ?? They haven't showed an ounce of progress, not anywhere. Drake maye has improved that it, but that has nothing to do with mayo. His side of the ball is atrocious. Players haven't developed, shits getting worse. A coach who has IT will start to show improvement as the first year goes on. Even if you're not winning, you can SEE the improvement. We haven't seen ANY improvement whatsoever, they've gotten worse as the year went on. He is so lost. He is not ready to be a head coach and pushing him along for year 2 won't make him any better. He has NO experience other than being a CO DC for a few years and even then He was hardly that as well as linebacker coach. Only reason he got the Job is he was a fav of kraft. Which you never hire based on that. That's a golden rule! They did so much wrong last year and they're going to repeat the same shit. Idk if I can even watcchc

    Tell Hoyer to Get His Prescription Checked for His Eyeglasses and to stop being sour over being beaten out by Zappe for the 2nd string Backup to Mac Jones in '24
    This guy's opinion holds zero weight with me and the majority of the fan base.
    I would rather people and former players be honest about how bad and how much worse this season was than any of the seasons in the past 30 seasons. Wake up Hoyer and stop trying to sugar coat the disaster that is the Patriots Preparation week to week, constant Penalties & Lack-Luster player energy / game plan / halftime adjustments.
    Most NCAA College teams could Beat this Patriots Team and it's not because of lack of Talent.
    They were a top 10 Defense in Points Allowed last season and that was with Mac Jones throwing Interception and Fumble Parties the 1st half of the season putting the Defense in short field situations over and over again, and the defense still finished #9 overall in points allowed under great coaching, preparation, X's & O's / halftime adjustments.
    Imagine last seasons Defense, with Drake Maye at QB, they would have been a top 3 Defense in Points Allowed and make the playoffs with ease.
    Horrible Hoyer, come on, I respect honesty, not playing favorites and politics. Come on Hoyer, "Do your Job."

The worst thing that could possibly happen if you replace him with vrabel is Mayo becomes a great coach 10 years from now. I’m okay with that lmao.
