  • If you’re passionate about this kind of a project you’ll come across a wide variety of “the right way.” If you’re like me you’ll waste 100s of dollars and hrs testing the many anecdotes. But- in this short video youll discover the best low maintenance fruiting chamber-bang for buck. The following is what I’ve found to be true, through far too much research, that you’ll need start to finish not covered in the vid.
    1. Buy sterilized brf jars (8-12oz jars with brown rice flour) or grain bag (rye seeds) online. (~$5-$20 depending on size)
    2. Buy sterilized syringes with the spawn (mushroom spore solution) of your choosing frommushiesunderground.com ($10 ea)
    3. Buy good sterilized substrate from same source above. (Or, do hrs of research on making your own out of combos of perlite/coco coir/manure based soils that must be pressure cooked or sterilized for twice the time and money after the dust settles)
    4. Use gloves and alcohol wipes to sterilize then Inoculate your grain or brf jars. put them in a dark, clean, 75-80 degree spot (I used a bathroom linen closet with a small heater and the thermostat shown in video) leave it there for 7-14 days until it is complete white with mycelium. It will happen..
    5. This is the most important time to stay sterile: Take you’re mycelium covered brf (if you use brf cakes, shred them with a sterile cheese grater first) or grain out of its container and mix it into your substrate at a rate of 1/15 or so into tub size of you’re choosing so longs as yiu end up with 3-4” of material packed even but loosely in the bottom. (The higher the ratio the faster it’ll be ready for the last step. The less, the longer. Think of it like a virus taking over an organism. This applies to the amount of solution in your grain as well.)
    6. This is the most finicky part: incubation. Wrap the whole lidded tote in a black trash bag (new) tie it tight and put the whole tote back in the 75-80 degree closet for another 7-14 days (will go faster if you follow these steps) don’t use a heating Mat, don’t worry about water build up, In fact don’t look at it or open it. If you were sterile you won’t have contamination. If it stays tight and you have a heat source that isn’t making direct contact and distributes evenly, you’ll be good.
    7. Move totes to the Martha tent with lids off and don’t let the substrate over dry, over heat or over soak by not properly calibrating your controller (in video)
    Hope that’s helpful.
