      @sandman9601 Well, I've been a medical marijuana patient for over 10 years. Before that, I was unhealthy, broke, and had extreme anxiety along with insomnia. Since marijuana I sleep 8 hours a day, got a job paying 350k a year, and my anxiety is gone. Plus, I'm a father of 5. I'm able to keep up with everything. NO marijuana is not what I was taught it was.

    I'm 14 months off the sauce. About a month ago, I finally talked to the Dr about the pain in my R upper quadrant I've been having for years. I had an ultrasound/mri 5 ish years ago and it showed an unhappy, nasty fatty/enlarged liver. I didn't stop drinking, and honestly the last 4 years were the heaviest in my drinking career. Daily drinker/vodka/rum every night and countless amounts on the weekends. I was really worried about the damage I did over those 4 years. I was seriously expecting progression of the fatty liver to fibrosis/cirrhosis which is why I didn't go to the Dr. (I know, stupid, but that's what alcohol does). The recent imaging/comparisons showed zero signs of fatty liver/liver disease. Over the last 14 months AF, exercise and eating well, I reversed the damage I did to my liver from the 15ish years of drinking. Lay off the sauce peeps, it is hard but it is worth it. Don't stop trying. I had more day 1's than I can count. Never stop trying.

      Can they see if you've scarred your liver. There's a channel on YT and the guy drank heavily in his younger years then quit for like 30 years but still got cirrhosis as a result of his younger drinking days.

    • @kkl4815
      @kkl4815 7 месяцев назад +7

      @@andys2856 Yes, I had ultrasound and MRI imaging/comparison to my prior results. No scarring, fibrosis is reversed, liver is normal size. I will say, even though I didn't quit drinking until Dec 2022, I did do a major change in my diet and fitness starting in October 2019. I guess I did it backwards as far as fitness and nutrition and then quitting drinking later.

    Sweating out what smells like alcohol stank my entire flat out - floors, walls, furniture, bedding, clothes. Sheer poisonous stench. After 7 days it is gone. It is staggering how desperate the body is to rid itself of the toxic onslaught.

    I buried my best friend 6 years ago last month. He was 59. He had no family left the last 10 years of his life, so went full tilt on the booze. I was his medical power of attorney as well, so I was a spectator to the progression of signs into symptoms, into full blown end stage cirrhosis. Eventually seizures, coma, etc etc, until one morning at 1am I got the call. He was 400k in medical debt at the time of his death. Unbelievably, he was an organ donor, which i thought was futile, but they harvested, bone, skin, corneas, and all sorts of other things. A young girl received his corneas the next day and regained her vision. I was notified by the donor site that 22 people were served by his donation.

      He failed to register for his retiree healthcare plan as his disability insurance ended. He was in the hospital for 28 days with no insurance and accumulated 230k in bills there. Once i discovered he was uninsured, i requested cobra paperwork for him which would have been retroactive for that time period between disability and retiree insurance. All he had to do was sign it and give it to his mail lady who often spent time chatting with him. He told me he did. A year later when he died I discovered he never did and was paying 300 a month towards that bill. I was able to get the hospital to settle for virtually nothing before probating his estate. In the end I had to liquidate his estate and pay 210k for all the remaining bills accumulated over the last 4 years of his life.

    My husband passed away from cirrhosis April 2023. It’s a horrific disease. He was only 34. We have three little boys. I’m so glad to see someone talking about this. He was stage 4 by the time he was diagnosed. Looking back there were so many signs we just ignored them. It’s amazing how your body can hold itself together. He was “ok” one day and the next they were telling him he had three months to live.

It’s a terrible disease, that not only effects the patient, but is so difficult for the caregivers & all family. A very hard disease to watch, especially in the end. Something anyone who has watched someone die from cirrhosis, something they’ll never forget!! We finally got a wonderful loving hospice who came in & helped us with end of life issues. It broke all of our hearts, the only thing that gave us peace was knowing we were sinners, broken, but we had a Heavenly Father who forgave us & was waiting for us at the end of our lives. 🙌 Thank you for saving my soul! 🙏🏼💞🙌

    I much like you even with my medical background dismissed signs and symptoms, although not as extreme as yours. My point being even with some medical knowledge we all want to dismiss what our bodies are telling us on something else. As you said, “throwing up coffee grounds” but thought it was the soda.
    I commend you on your truthfulness and sharing your story. I’m glad you are still here because many that get to that point don’t survive.

    I was only 23 and fell into deep alcoholism over the course of 9 months. I was overseas and drinking 6-8 500ml cans of 9% alcohol a day, it totals out to about a liter of 80 proof alcohol. I was drinking before work, taking some into work with me to ward off the shakes and panic attacks, and then drinking after work til 2 am.
    It got to the point towards the end of the 9 months where if I went 3-4 hours without a drink I’d start getting panic attacks, extreme sweating, dangerously high blood pressure, low blood sugar etc.
    I talked with my doctor and got a small supply of meds so I could cold turkey the alcohol without risking seizures etc. and luckily I was able to escape. Even only a couple weeks sober I was feeling 1000% better.
    I just wanted to share for anyone in similar shoes. We often hear about people who drink for years and years before experiencing catastrophic health issues, but depending on your drinking and/or pre-existing conditions, health issues can sneak up extremely quickly.

    Thank you for sharing your experience. Heavy drinkers who don't hear this, need to hear it. We all fool ourselves into saying, oh, that happens to some people, but not me. Or, I'll get a handle on this before its too late. All the while it is damaging us, and no one can really tell when they have gone too far. I was a heavy week end drinker, and it fucked up a lot of things in my life. I am now 4 years sober, and know I can't go back to that. Alcohol is an insidious drug. At first it makes you feel warm, happy, energetic, and fun. It will overtake you, and now you will feel the exact opposite....scared, dark, hopeless and broken. Don't go out that way, stop right now, and don't go back.

    interesting, in spite of all the mind games we play with ourselves in addiction, that when it is literally staring you in the face (READ: the mirror), we find another game to play. crazy, but seems pretty universal, listening to your story and reading the comments here, on this channel. you have allowed yourself, through this channel, a place to relate, to question, to share, and to learn from and through your experiences. and then you are courageous enough and bold enough, to think out loud with us. it never feels like you are holding back. you are honest, even when it is painful, when it might not show you in your best light. too few are capable of that, and even fewer to do it publicly. i am thankful. we are all thankful.

From that point, death is usually near. Glad you got out of this man. Hi LD. A happy Valentine’s Day to you 💚. That’s was a very detailed brave story. I know you are helping many in the same boat ! I have seen so many patients with cirrhosis where I work. It’s sad and it getting worse . We have males and females aged 30-75 ish . Really heavy drinkers. They usually come in bc of Hepatic encephalopathy ( due to elevated ammonia levels) confusion, jaundice and ascites. Repeat Repeat. It is very difficult for the family caretaker . So we give them the yucky meds for ammonia levels and do a parenthesis . They get stable. Most come back repeatedly due to cont drinking or the damage to liver is late stage . It is devastating. I’m glad you are around and sober. For you. For your family . I pray you live a long good life. I think you will bc you are doing good self care . Blessings and hugs to you friend 💚💚💚💚💚🌟🌟🌟👌🏻👌🏻

    Excellent video again, LD. I get liver/spleen pains too, but they were definitely worse back when I drank. Man, the daily puking was SO bad, wasn’t it? Ugh I remember the taste of all that stomach acid coming up all day every day. It’s so hard when you need your morning fix and you can’t get it down. Ugh what a terrible time that was.
    Interesting about sleepwalking and eating…but my question is, (like you I’d also black out nightly) how do you know
    It was sleepwalking as opposed to actions during blackout? Because both we have no recollection of, so I’m just curious how you know it was sleepwalking. Really fascinating regardless that you were unconsciously ingesting calories because your body knew it was malnourished. Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope your wonderful wife and you can celebrate your multiple decades of love! 💕

      @liverdisease-qb6rk  7 месяцев назад +3

      Thank you! Yeah... the puking is horrible, especially when you are trying to drink to get your morning fix. It could have been from the alcohol, I would get up after I had been asleep and eat and not remember. I would be blackout drunk every night too, so there is that. Could be? Thank you again and I really appreciate the comment! God bless😊

    omg this reminds me of myself towards the end of my drinking career. i thought i was peeing out fireball! I thought it was everything else until i had my blood work and my liver enzymes were off the charts. The day after i saw my blood workI went to the emergency room. those symptoms were going on for a long time before i ended up in the ER. I didnt notice a really bad pain in my liver until about 2 weeks before i ended up in the hospital. My eyes turned yellow about 2 weeks before the hospital.i remember thinking it was allergies or i was hoping it was.loss of hair for over a year before i got sick and i blamed it on menopause.i basically thought it was anything else not liver failure! Great share! my name is Aimee

    I feel you on putting it off. I was diagnosed with Hep C from needle usage in probably 2005. I have a lot of symptoms (I believe) that I act like aren’t there, or act like they’re isolated incidents. Being constantly fatigued for the last several years is the biggest one. Swelling of my feet for no reason but that hasn’t happened in awhile, but no redness or pain, just swollen right foot. Also having zero appetite for a long time now. I force myself to eat. I’ve been clean for almost 10 years, but I can’t gain weight and I’m small. I got up to 130 a couple years ago, kept the routine, and am back down to 116 pounds. I’m 5’ 8” so yeah I’m scrawny 😂. I think part of me is afraid of how much damage they’re going to tell me I’ve let happen by putting it off. But my blood work always seems to come back “ok” with high liver enzymes and still positive (some people fight it off on their own apparently).

    My husband has cirrhosis of the liver and will possibly need a liver transplant. He is 45 yrs old and is addicted to whisky. He still continues to drink even though medical professionals told him he will die. At this point any sip or an ounce of alcohol is poison to his body. He was told he won’t make it past 50 if he doesn’t stop drinking. His symptoms were severe itching, blurry vision, bloating, yellow skin, severe heart burn, high glucose levels, high blood pressure, significantly low red and white blood cells, fatigue and fainting.

    At my last physical I was told I have fatty liver. I'm not a drinker but I have a lot of medical conditions, emphysema, thyroid disease, kidney disease, & more so I chalked all my new symptoms up to the conditions I have. But this yr has been worse with a lot of the symptoms you talked about. So I just wanted to say thanks for your vid cuz I know now I really need to make some diet changes. I'm 66 & live off sugar. I go for this yrs round of scans this month & realize I really need to take charge of the liver. Thanks for the wakeup call.

      I like a few beers at the weekend but in moderation. However, I have been taking Lansaprazole for 30yrs due to excess acid and a Hiatus Hernia. I believe it's hereditary as Dad has always been on them as well but doesn't have the hernia! I now suffer from Gout and have a lowered kidney and liver function for my age!
      I'm 55yrs old . . Apparently a lot of medications are worse than alcohol!!
      Any advice would be appreciated!

      Love❤sugar, alcohol free for 9 yrs, just got diagnosed with it all…..pancreas, liver and kidneys are shor. I’m so glad that I’m not drinking anymore I would have died years ago. They found it on an ultrasound that they were conducting on my female organs. My gallbladder is also a wreck. I quit drinking because I was so sedentary and ended up getting a blood clot in my lungs that nearly took me out. I don’t know how to cut the juice, sodas, Red Bull, cakes and pastries. And all carbs and sugar! Grrrrrrr😢

    My husband passed away just over a year ago. We had been separated for 3 years at that point, but I had no idea that his drinking was what was killing him. He wasted away. He told ppl that it was cancer but it was extreme alcohol consumption. He starved to death ultimately, and died alone, leaving our son without a dad. That’s no way to live, and no way to go out. Repent & believe the gospel, because we are not promised our next breath.
